Sometimes, certain adjectives get tossed around a little too freely and yet, we still hope that Epic's Bullestorm will indeed be "groundbreaking."
According to one of the game's writers and as cited by CVG , People Can Fly are working on something very special…even though the game features a story about a space pirate who, all inebriated and junk, crashes his ship into his arch-enemy's vessel. Then he finds himself on an alien planet with…like, aliens. Is he still drunk…? Well, anyway, writer Rick Remender wrote this plot and if you're wondering, he also worked with Visceral Games on the excellent Dead Space . In speaking to Game Informer, Remender said:
"[Epic] flew me out to Warsaw for a week and we all locked down the story together as you would in any writer's room. We tore it up, everyone had great ideas, by the end we'd written our dream sci-fi movie. It just so happens that it's also a groundbreaking video game.
It's been a great production; they are equally as invested in story and gameplay in a way I don't see that often. Working this way has set apart the better games of the past few years, just never in a FPS. It achieves total immersion. So, no communication issues, so far the process has been a dream."
It's a very promising set of comments and we're optimistic about this project. The fact that it's another FPS doesn't deter us; we happen to enjoy the genre, provided we're not beaten over the head with it every few days. Bulletstorm could very well be highly entertaining and furthermore, it may not take itself too seriously, which is a plus, right?

It worries me that a "dream Sci-fi movie" only takes a week to write. Maybe I should take a week off work with a few of my friends and write a best selling novel..
I think this is how b-rated movies get made…

Ed Wood wrote sci-fi on the fly and look how cool Plan 9 From Outer Space turned out…classic…just don't try watch any of his other movies, Brenda V Brenda still makes no sense!
You get your new PS3 yet m8? A little over a month I'm back…need to get your practice on man!!!lol
sounds like their writing Ice Pirates 2- Bulletstorm
well that was my first thought too. 1 week to write a story? Short story about 3-5 pages maybe. Guess this fps will be just like the rest, 5 hour SP and then the same ol same ol MP.
A drunken pirate…
This has the potential to be this generation's Duke Nukem if they strike the right balance between humor and good gameplay.
Hope they nail it!

Drunken space pirate with aliens Story, huh?
See Uncharted and Uncharted 2 for story.
Not even paying attention to this game. Not yet anyways.
From what I saw in the latest GameInformer, this games looks like poop and smells like it, could be a pass.
I've always had a positive impression of Epic though kinda like how one views a $12 whore.
And this recieves a "thumbs up." Thanks for the smile. 🙂
I kinda like the idea of 12 $12 whores though.
Even back when Epic made good games like Jazz Jackrabbit they never really had much talent in the way of story. I dont expect much from them, especially if its the same group that wrote Gears' awful dialog.
I was kinda hoping that gameplay would be great even if the story was crap… Now that I've read this, I guess the gameplay will be as crap as the story.
Yep. Even that other title "Enslaved" or Savage whatever its called holds more promise IMO.
I only like the part about the drunken pirate.
Sounds like it could be good, who knows. Wonder if all this talk about story means there will be an honest-to-goodness single player campaign, or just a token "training mode for the multiplayer" thing?
There's an 8 page article about this game in the new Game Informer magazine, its a good read. It actually sounds MUCH better than this post is letting on hehe.
Those early screen shots look horible though….it's like Ratchet and Clank meet Borderlands cartoony look.
Well, it's going to have to use humor to get that story by anyone. As Jawk would say, "No more Martian shooters."
I'm with ya Ben, I like the genre too, but this does qualify as being beat over the head every few days thanks to Raven's new bid. At any rate, I'll try to hold judgment till PSXE takes a look at it in a later stage.
Because when I think "groundbreaking" the first thing that pops in my mind is "Bulletstorm." Sounds like a bad 80's action flick starring Dolph Lundgren…
One thing I think we can all agree on is that the characters in the game will be steroid taking, overgrown, musclebound idiots. Epic just can't get away from that one.
WHERES MY WIFE! Bwhgwgh)
Looks about as groundbreaking as Halo: Reach. But hey, looks can be deceiving.
looking forward to it, since i did enjoy Gears 1 and 2. Not sure about it being ground breaking, but we will see. The early screen shots in Game Informer looked decent and will probably only get better. Its a good read. But i highly doubt the game will get any love here from posters
Third person is the better choice
I want GeoW plz plz plz plz , 2nd 360 died , god dammit
Another one bites the dust, sorry old bean
forgive me if im a little skeptical because well i cant think of 1 shooter with a decent, not good, but decent story line.
i love epics games because there over the top fun, unreal tournament 3 is my most played ps3 game, and gears 2 is my most played 360 game so i really cant wait for this!
though i wish gears 3 would hurry the fu*k up!
i cant wait till april 8th for a decent shooter to pop up.
just hope the online gameplay will give us something to do after the story.
