The Art Of Uncharted 2 Kicks Off New Publishing Series

Last year's super special "Fortune Hunter Edition" was a very hot item for collectors and now, Naughty Dog wants to tempt you yet again.

Ballistic Publishing is starting a new "Art of the Game" series of art books, and they figured the very first offering should be dedicated to the impressive artistry of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves . This 272-page book "showcases the amazing unseen art and ideas" that made the game so popular amongst critics and fans alike; it features "concept art, character studies, environment art, character modeling, game art, cinematics, motion-capture, animation, and effects." What isn't in this book?! It will be available in three separate editions: the standard soft-cover edition for $65.00, the Special Edition for $129.00 and the Limited Folio Edition for a cool $300.00. All those who purchase the latter two editions will also receive a free 15-minute walkthrough video of three Uncharted 2 concept pieces by Naughty Dog Art Director Robh Ruppel and Concept Artist Andrew Kim. The first 300 customers who buy the soft-cover edition will also get this free of charge.  So if you're quick, you can nab it.

The true fans will go for one of these, right? And by the way, I happen to have that aforementioned Fortune Hunter Edition…just thought I'd mention it. 😉

at least 2 years maybe a little more because I do remember the red ps3 being up there when I first joined sometime in the summer before my first year of college.

Ben, give away your copy of the Fortune Hunter Edition instead of that blue PS3.

At least as long as I've been here, which is a couple years I think.

I really REALLY love Naughty Dog. They sent something my way for purchased stuff on PSN. I couldn't be any happier. They are developer that cared about their fans.

Guess I'm not a true fan, I can't afford that! Love the game though. I'm sure with its GOTY status and such they will get some sales from the rich hardcore crowd. All that cash goes into Uncharted 3 so I'm all for it.

I love the game, but if I want to see the artwork from it, I'll just play it again. BTW, I just saw a Fortune Hunter Edition sell for over $1600 on ebay. That would by your new 3dtv.

am i the only one that doesn't care about special/limited editions?
even a game as good as uncharted can't convince me to buy one.

Well, I got myself a Limited Edition of Uncharted 2 and it's nearly impossible to get it now. I could sell it for at least 150 bucks…
At least I got that one … with the tin case… looks nice…

😛

Damn Ben, how'd you ever attain that? Was it by going through caves, swimming through swamp water, solving awesome big-scale puzzles and discovering some ancient civilization protected by powerful-ass guardians?

I'd really like one of those art book things though, just don't have the cash for it, pity, oh well.

I would if it wasn't so freaking expensive. I buy a lot of art books I find them inspiring and awesome to look at. I would love to have this too but… $65 doesn't seem worth it, and that's the cheapest version.

Cool! Now on top of playing the most epic of epic games, I can now read it too!
*Searches couch cousins* Darn! A dime, 31 pennies and dirt. I need a new method of finding $300. 🙂
