An eagle-eyed reader has spotted a job listing over at Gamasutra – looking for a cool position, are we? – and it's for an Animator at the prominent development studio. They of course won't give us the title's name but they do give us a hint; it's apparently "a fun AAA title with great characters," which is kinda vague, but could relate to either a new Ratchet and Clank or Resistance . We've assumed for a while that Insomniac was toiling away on Resistance 3 but if they are, they're certainly keeping it under wraps. At the same time, we just got Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time late last year, so to be working on another Ratchet so soon seems a little…bizarre. But although it's not a handheld iteration – the platform is listed clearly as "PlayStation 3" – it could be a downloadable project, akin to Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty . What do you think of that? Or would you rather it be Resistance 3 ? The Resistance series doesn't get enough respect, in our opinion.
Anyway, we're always interested in whatever Insomniac wants to do. These guys always know what they're doing; the chances of a sub-par product coming from this studio are slim to none.
While I would hope for Resistance 3, the word "fun" makes it seem like it'll be a kids game.

The beauty of Insomniac is that even though a title like R&C is inherently geared with kids in mind, I (at least), a 20-year-old, think the franchise is hilarious and insanely fun.
Im 20 and i've enjoyed the hell out of every Ratchet game. Just because its safe to let kids play doesnt mean its a simple or slow-paced game. R&C is actually quite refreshing in an industry filled with grizzled space marines who swear as often as breathe.
I just know when i have kids (hopefully a LONG time from now, lol) we will be playing Ratchet and Clank together and they will thing i'm so lame for enjoying those old 4:3 2d games with so few polygons!
It sounds like Insomniac is going to go for another R&C game or at least something like it. I recall them talking about taking a break from R&C for a while so it might be a new action/platform/shooter/puzzle/whatever game. Whatever it may be, its guaranteed to be fun.
Resistance 3, FTW!
But this hints at R&C, to me.
"great characters" rules out anything to do with the Resistance franchise. Maybe a R&C but they've done quite a few of those already. I'm smelling a new IP.
If it is indeed a new R&C, not only will I be getting it, I assume that it would be downloadable content, like with Quest for Booty (to be specific, I'm assuming it will be an "epilogue" of sorts to ACiT, which would be awesome!).
But if not, IP sounds about right Aliennage ^.^

True dat. I wouldn't expect any DC from the PSN to be AAA. It just doesn't seem to be the logical choice. But, I suppose either way, Insomniac will know what they're doing. I'm confident in that much.

They will probably do what they did when R2 came out, release R3 but a Ratchet & clank game for the psn. It worked great 2 years ago so why not again?
I agree with earlier posts, "a fun AAA title with great characters," really rules out Resistance 3. But that doesn't mean they aren't already churning along at it.

Oh gawd YES. I remember the summer of 97 I went camping with a friend's family and one day it was near 100 out so we played it all day in his parent's RV. Fun times.

Hmm something fun, isn't everything Insomniac brings out fun? I would love to see another Ratchet and Clank that would be great or even something completely new would be good as well, whatever they come up with I know it will be good.
Hmmm. Insomniac is my least favorite exclusive developer of Sony's. Bought A Crack in Time and haven't played it more then an hour.
I need to get on those like this week. Once Red Dead Redemption comes out, i probably wont be playing anything else for awhile.

Last i heard it was just a rumor and Insomniac denied it. I heard that word of mouth too though so who knows how accurate that is.

they created spyro it was so famous everyone loved him, so they shelved him.

depends on which series, crash, spyro and such were such classics.
and they barley got any installments before they were sold off.
Doubt it'll be R3, hope not anyway, the last instalment was covered in mediocracy. I'm hoping it'll be a new IP, similar to Ratchet and Clank because that it far and away the best series on the PS2/PS3.

A new IP would be totally awesome. If not, I'd shoot for a Ratchet and Clank title. I don't recall Resistance being a "fun game with great characters" but Ratchet and Clank surely is/was.
I don't think Resistance gets much respect in gaming simply because they don't know where the hell they're going with it. The first Resistance was fun, the second one well…it probably took itself a bit too seriously.
Now Resistance 3 will be coming out and what are the fans/gamers suppose to expect? It's up in the air to which game (1 or 2) they'll base the game play on. It was like you were playing two completely different games, so what gives?
Just make a good game and don't "f" it up again.
