F.E.A.R. 3 Confirmed, John Carpenter Lends A Hand

It wasn't long ago when a European gaming publication spilled the beans on the third F.E.A.R. installment and now, it's official.

As reported by GameSpot , Warner Bros. Interactive has announced today that F.E.A.R. 3 will launch for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC this fall. In a break from tradition, primary development will be spearheaded by Day 1 studios, the team that worked on the PS3 and 360 ports of the original F.E.A.R. . Monolith, which was the developer for the first two titles, won't be involved, which may or may not prove skeptical to fans of the franchise. The good news is that this third entry is a true sequel; it picks up where the last adventure left off, so maybe you should snag F.E.A.R. 2 to prepare yourself… Furthermore, they're including a new "divergent co-op" mode that will let gamers take on the role of one of two characters: either Point Man, the genetically engineered super-soldier from the first title, or his brother, Paxton Fettel, who uses his fantastical telekinesis powers to his advantage.  These are recognizable names, right?

Lastly, Warner has tapped horror film veteran John Carpenter to act as a consultant of sorts. This should help bring out the freaky nature of the game, as Carpenter is well known to scary movie aficionados; from "Halloween" to "They Live," he has been responsible for numerous frightening big-screen hits. Considering all this, our expectations are high for F.E.A.R. 3 .

And this one will truly be a HORROR game??

Or a Gears Of War 2 clone wanna-be??

If it has the name John Carpenter attached, I can guarantee it'll have some chills. =)

Haven't seen much from John Carpenter in awhile. Escape from New York was awesome-sauce.

Wow. The Master is on as a consultant? I think I just became interested in F.E.A.R. — the series has never really appealed to me before. It's been a while since I've seen anything from John Carpenter but he's behind some of my favourites of all time (Halloween, Vampires, Ghosts of Mars, Escape from New York, The Thing… the list goes on and on), so I'm definitely checking this out!

LOL Ghosts of Mars was hilarious. Made me laugh, but I loved it too.

Fear 2 was such a letdown compaired to how epic FEAR was when it first came out. I hope they bring back some of those record breaking graphics that made the first one so good way back when.

Here's hoping he does a better job with this game than Clive Barker did with Jericho.

John Carpenter was the brainchild for two of my favorite horror movies of all time (Halloween and The Thing) so I will be keeping an eye on this one for sure.

The thing was a remake, but it is still probably my favorite horror movie of all time

I guess you could say it was a remake of a 1951 movie "A Thing From Another World".

Carpenter definitely did a better job and made a somewhat different version of the original. If he can breathe some new life into this franchise, I will be very happy.

I never played the first fear, but tried the demo for fear 2 and hated it. With a new dev and carpenter it could be an improvement, but we'll have to wait and see.

Exactly what everyone else is saying, F.E.A.R. was amazing, great scares and fun gameplay at the time. F.E.A.R. 2 was just so dated it seemed when it came out, I mean i enjoyed it storywise, kinda but it just wasn't up to snuff..

As long as he's not in "Ghosts of Mars" mode, Carpenter would be an excellent consultant for F.E.A.R. 3.

Don't give us those damn impossible online trophies this time either.

The only online trophy that any game should have is a trophy for just getting online. Other than that, keep the trophies strictly SP oriented. Thank you!!!

@ Limited

Saint has explained that he has a persistent glitch which makes the reply buttons disappear, so he can't actually reply to the correct person.

As confusing as it can sometimes be, I'd rather have him respond to the wrong comment than not respond at all.

Two words: The Thing.

Sounds like a good move on their part getting John Carpenter involved.

NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WB WHAT THE FU*K ARE YOU THINKING???????????????
honestly monolith made this series, they are such good developers this game can not live without them.
F.E.A.R without monolith is like uncharted without naughty dog, or gran turismo without PD.
come on for fu**s sake what the hell is going on here?
i am so disappointed, i was on my hands and knees begging this to be like the first fear.
sigh.

"divergent co-op" mode that will let gamers take on the role of one of two characters: either Point Man, the genetically engineered super-soldier from the first title, or his brother, Paxton Fettel, who uses his fantastical telekinesis powers to his advantage"

oh god another one of these?
great another survival horror game turned into a mindless shooter just like the last fear game.
first resident evil 5, than dead space 2, than prince of persia the forgotten sands and now this.
whats next?

looks like RE5 has a new contender for most disappointing title of the generation!

@LV,
I have started collecting money to get 'Negative No Name' a prescription for Effexor. If you would like to donate, let me know. Either that or we could use the money to send this guy to a brothel. He needs something…….BAD.
