Soothing Flower Soundtrack Hits PSN This Week

In our opinion, it was the best downloadable game of 2009 and a big part of that singular, relaxing experience was the soothing soundtrack.

The music fit every aspect of the production in Flower and actually making music a part of the gameplay – a note of some sort would sound with every flower that opened – was a stroke of borderline genius. If you were equally impressed with the sound in the game, you might want to pick up the soundtrack, which will be available to purchase on Thursday from the PlayStation Network. As announced at the PlayStation Blog , the collection will boast eight tracks that total an hour's worth of music for the price of $2.99. Furthermore, through the previous link, you can read the thoughts of award-winning composer Vincent Diamante, who was responsible for the soundtrack in question. We particularly like this bit here:

"Ostensibly, I was the one in control, penning each note in my music synthesizer as environment after environment demanded score. Not just any score, though; an ambitious score where the number of instruments present in the music ultimately dictated a different perspective on the game. From that simple directive, I codified a way of writing the music that would result in the interactive score I dreamt of."

Developer thatgamecompany is one talented group and we can't wait to learn all about their new project. We haven't heard anything about it just yet so we're hoping it might debut at E3 (or perhaps earlier). In the meantime, take a break with Flower and mellow out to the soundtrack in your car.

Indeed, sounds like it might even displace a few white noise machines for those who have trouble sleeping.

Well, I was able to with the PAIN theme, so I think you'll be able to. I dont see why not, as it's only an audio file.

Are you joking me? The soundtrack to Flower?? In my car??? Spending 2.99 on a beer would be just as hazardous to my driving as listening to this.

Some companies do, you have to look hard for it. I am currently trying to talk myself into buying the Xenosaga soundtrack. The legitimate original from Japan is expensive though.

You can find the entire OST collection online to download. It's roughly 927mb. Just search for it on isohunt or some other torrent search engine.

And that's the reason they might as well not release their music at all =p

I fell in love with Xenogears back when it came out. I wish I could remember exactly, but some group named Creid… or something like that (Don't worry… I'm not talking about rock group Creed) had some brilliant music from the Xenogears soundtrack. With actual, unsynthesized intruments, it's gloriously moving! In all the many many moves I've done across Canada… I've managed to misplace it… >.< I accept all thumbs down for my admittance of this heinous crime.
