Ben-DutkaI think all action fans everywhere have been wondering the same thing: "where the hell is Devil May Cry 5 ?"
Devil May Cry 4 came out well over two years ago and since, we haven't heard hide nor hair from the cocky hero. DMC remains my second-favorite action series next to God of War and although I believe Bayonetta boasts the most impressive combat mechanic of the generation, DMC4 was just more accessible to me. I believe the game sold relatively well and like most entries in the illustrious series, it was quite popular with the fans. Therefore, I'm wondering why we haven't heard a peep about another DMC installment; if it existed at all, one would think we'd have heard about it through whispers and rumors. And yet…nothing. I know they've previously had their hands full with stuff like Resident Evil 5 , and I know they're still working to push Lost Planet 2 out the door, but no DMC? Really? Okay, so Monster Hunter is a crazy lucrative series, which is why another one is hitting the PSP in Japan soon ( Monster Hunter Freedom 3 ), but are you really going to ignore all those die-hard Dante followers?
In looking at the upcoming lineup of games and perusing the news, I only just realized that a major title seems to be missing. DMC5 would really be huge and we can always hold out hope for an E3 announcement but really, we've heard absolutely nothing . Who stops at 4, anyway?
I have a feeling Capcom is waiting for Sony or Microsoft to write a check for exclusive rights.
Thats one thing i never got. Why 4 and not the others? its like reading the last chapter of a book with out the rest of the story.
@ Main, that's exactly why I hope they don't take any of the other console exclusives mid-way and make them multiplat, I wouldn't want to see Kingdom Hearts 3 go multiplat, I know it won't happen, but I will be afraid untill it has been released for like 3 years.
I thought DMC4 was pretty awesome!!! Like Ben, its my favorite Action/Hack+Slash series next to GOW. Nero's fight mechanic was pretty cool and the Devil Bringer was bad ass!!! I would very much like to see another DMC.
You 'thought' DMC4 was awesome? Dude, DMC4 IS awesome! His sword has an ENGINE, and it could power-up (hold L2 when not attacking/ press L2 as you strike), what could be more awesome than that?!
@ wolf: I like never used that power up thingy, didn't find it necessary and couldn't find the time in mid battle to remember to do that…
actually if you found the time to make use of his instant revving during combos, you would find out how deep nero can get with his combos. Its not as hard once you get use to it. Of course its not needed but it adds a lot of damage
Also, to make it easier, i made one of my shoulder buttons the shoot button, this way i can fully charge nero's gun while in a combo, helps with the style a lot and unlike dante's charged shot, nero's does a lot of damage

I still can't get anywhere in DMC4, for some reason after I beat a level and save, when I come back to it I have to re-beat that whole last level to advance at all. It pisses me off.
Sounds like you have the BTSADS3 error.
Dont bother World , 4 is even wore than 2 .
4 pwnz 2, but 3 is better than both.
I know what your saying World….really annoying sometimes but I guess it's DMC's tradition.
I like it, but I would like much more to fix that error. It's not like I can unload the game for any money.

1&3 i'll give u that , but dante and bayonetta is wayyyy better than DMC2&4.
let me tell u why I hated 4, for the whole time I was controlling nero, I was thinking s**t I hate this guy, WTH is Dante????
and when u play dante , u start thinking nero is better in this one gimme nero back with his god hand(nahhh i think it was in an RPG game )

Actually 'the hand' was one of the main reasons why I loved DMC4, one of the most spectacular abilities ever seen in a game.
I know but If u ever played the previous 3 (even the dreaded 2) there was always plenty of weapon and firearms to choose from , thats why i missed dante , but when u play with him in 4 stuck with whatever u got , u start thinking Nero is better gimme Nero, thats why I hated it ,,,, it wasn't me who thumbed u down , I don't do that in fact here is a thumbs up 🙂
I played 2 & 3 but to me 4 was the better, it was just simple using Nero, Dante came in and everything became cumbersome, he had a whole lotta weapons and skill but Nero's simple 'hand' could do the job, and oh lol… I don't really care about thumbs up or down, I gave you thumbs up anyway just in case you care 😉

i never played devil may cry before EVER but i got it on my ps3 and i loved it… it was fun and easy on the eyes great boss battles…. and liked it so much i went out and got the rest of the series to see what i missed out
I thought it was ok, I enjoyed the first playthrough, but that was about it.
Now this is like not Off Topic at all, but God of War is different, I like just now started a new game on Titan mode and dam those bosses are a lot harder.
You really need to keep thinking about what you're doing, just proves that you don't get anywhere with button mashing.
It was very rewarding though, to kick Hades' behind after being killed more than 4 times by him, and with four I mean like 10… yeah, really need to get used to that.
It does give you a great sense of accomplishment though, like the good old days, when we had no trophies and checkpoints were at a shortage of one per level, I think I got a bit of that Demon's souls feeling y'all are talking about(don't know about it's trophies though).

There were 5 God of War games, lol. In Chronological order and the platform it corresponds with:
Chains of Olympus (PSP)
God of War (PS2)
Betrayal (mobile)
God of War II (PS2)
God of War III (PS3)
So yeah, God of War stops at 5 it looks like…for now. The creators said they're not done with it yet, but they aren't going to use it for a long time.

by the way, Bayonetta after the patch was equal to the 360 at least? was thinking of a distant future to buy this game.

The Ninja Gaiden series, far and away, has my favorite combat engine. I really wish NG's block/evade mechanic would be adopted- or at least be an option- with more of the competition. I'd be pleased to see God of War allowing this. Darksiders, surprisingly, used block/evade. There's something about moving my right thumb off of the home action buttons in the midst of fast paced action that doesn't jive well with me. I haven't played Bayonetta. I have a hard time liking the stylization of that game and the shoddy PS3 code, I kept reading about, hasn't helped.
And DMC5, bring it on. Capcom just leave the 360 behind and max-out the PS3 hardware so it could, at least, compete with GoW3 technical prowess.
ninja gaiden is by far my favorite action game.
better than darksiders, dantes inferno, god of war, bayonetta put together!
i was really pissed when i found out they removed a level or 2 out of NGS2 and when they removed the blood i mean WTFH?
as for DMC5 being a ps3 exclusive i would not be surprised if that happened because DMC4 did not sell to well on the 360, the ps3 version sold much better.
but dont hold your breath on it being GOW3 graphical status.
i can only see first party developers and some select 3rd party devs reaching that status like crytek or ID.
if capcom release a game on GOW3 caliber ill eat my hat!
I think Final Fantasy Versus XIII will compete with God of War III's technical stuff. GT5 may be pretty top-notch quality, but it's a racing games and racing games, no matter how flashy, get boring to me.
I'm betting a lot of people will hate me for this but I never got into these games. I tried but the camera drove me nuts and and I just couldn't get used to the controls. Sorry as I know a lot of you love it.
bayonetta is the most overrated game this gen.
yes more over rated than GTAIV, halo 3 and halo ODST put together!

i really was disappointed with DMC4, it was still a good game but its by far the worst of the series, but than saying that is like saying GOW3 is the worst of the series its not exactly a insult.
id be very surprised if they dont announce DMC5 at e3 this year, and what the hell happened to DMC PSP?
that was announced at the PSPs launch for crying out loud!

Bayonetta? OVERrated? That game got a lot of beef from being ported from the 360 to the PS3 because the people porting it did a terrible job and then the game pretty much got lost in the wind. That game is fun, lol. Even though all I did was play the demo, lol.
Also, nothing beats Halo in overrated. It started being overrated as soon as the second one was announced in my book. All FPS games are overrated.
GOW3 worst of the series? Not imo, its probably the best tbh.
Anyway i think DMC5 will be one of the exclusive announcements for PS3 at E3.

DMC 4 was a great game, but it was lacking something…I think weapon majority, lol. I wanted to play as DANTE too, and when I finally got too, the game had me so used to the claw attacks that Dante felt like a let down, which actually made me hate Nero even more, lol. Great game though. Saved all the Holy Waters I collected throughout he game and just annihilated the last boss, lol. I do that in every DMC. DMC4 wasn't as good as 3, but the 2nd Devil May Cry…I didn't even want to play it. It just looked stupid to me.
