Saints Row 2 was an entertaining open-world sandbox game featuring plenty of questionable material, so you can expect an even bigger and more controversial environment in the third entry.
According to what THQ core games vice president Danny Bilson told CVG , Saints Row 3 is absolutely "mind-blowing" and we should start seeing promotion and marketing some time later this year. He also refers to new technology on the horizon – which the franchise could certainly use, in our opinion – and in speaking about Volition's next Red Faction title, Bilson said something about "insane upgrades." Now, between these two games mentioned here, it's clear that THQ is into these expansive, freedom-oriented worlds and although the publisher certainly has other titles in the hopper, Bilson admits that such a style "is a big, big part of their design aesthetic." Well, it usually tends to work really well; last year's Red Faction: Guerrilla was excellent and although we had our issues with Saints Row 2 , it's tough to deny the game's inherent appeal. …it's an appeal that sorta ramps up with the inclusion of Tera Patrick.
Anyway, expect Saints Row 3 early next year and as for the next Red Faction , we'll be looking around for details and info.
Related Game(s): Saints Row 3
If there's no FPS for the next Red Faction, there'll be no me playing it. Last year's Guerilla was Saint's Row on Mars and nothing else. To me, that was not a Red Faction game. I'm hoping THQ/Volition considers Guerilla as a side-series and give us the true Red Faction III next year.
I agree. Guerilla didn't feel like an RF game to me. Sketchy shooting, third person and less than comfortable controls.
felt more like a guy wishing he was thor on a random planet
Have yet to finish Saints Row 2, and to pick up Red Faction: Guerrilla, which I will at some point. The original Red Faction was a great game to play them years ago, even though the end/end boss was a huge let down for me.
if you ask me, the last Red Faction wasnt Red Faction 3, it was just a spin off.. and though it was interesting, I wouldnt want a sequel.
But come on now THQ, get a grip and give us what we want.. RF3 FPS.
I can imagine the thought process behind it "too many FPSs" …no, too many run of the mill FPSs, make something epic!
they pretty much invented the whole GeoMod thing on the consoles, they should take it to the next level.
the bunny lives!
THQ is still relevant?
um, sorta?
not for long if they keep droppin craptastic games
what of course there still relevant.
they gave us the best action title of the year!
take out one or 2 of the puzzles, or just spread them out better and darksiders would of been a near perfect game!
Never played a Saints Row, but if I ever come across 2 in the bargain bin I might pick it up since they left all the craziness out of GTAIV.
I'm sure it won't be hard. The game is terrible.
its not terrible its nice to see a game thats not so up itself and does not take itself so seriously.
saints row 2 was 1000 times better than GTAIV for one simple reason.
FUN!
last time i checked that was the whole point of playing games, to have fun.
now there is not one thing in GTAIV that was fun.
you cant even drive around like a escaped mental patient without going flying out the windscreen and dying.
wheres the fun in that?
Those are 2 great franchises. THQ would do well to take care of them with improvements and upgrades. In a few ways, I kinda like Saints Row a bit better than GTA.
saints row better that GTA? ha ha ha ha ha that's a funny joke. it is a joke right? RIGHTTTT?
I said "in a few ways". Don't worry, we can still be friends. GTA is still king!
no, saints row 2 was better because for once a game was fun.
there is not one thing in GTA IV i can call fun.
trying to do a mission and you keep getting calls from your friends wanting to go out, than loosing respect and such if you dont.
bloody ridiculous!
i dont play games so i can be hassled by people who want to go drink themselves dead.
I like the over the top stories in Saints Row. SR was the first to use a GPS on its mini map too, which that made it so much easier to get around.
I had no desire to play those tedious mini-games like darts and pool in GTA4.
Both have pros and cons.
I played the demo for red faction and hated it. Never played either saints row, so more of the same won't excite me unless its really different.
cant wait for saints row 3. i love saints row its always fun and there's so much things you can do in it. i think this game is probably the only game that competes with gta. gta is fun but gta4 just sucked on some parts. for example customization was horrible you couldn't really do anything with it. saints row has always focus in my opinion the customization you can do with your character and vehicles. if thq were to bring the visuals up to date like gta this game would win over gta every time.
"mind-blowing" you say? Why? Because this time you're adding trophies?
That's right. I'm still mad at THQ for not patching in trophies to SR2.
RFG was a decent game, the destruction was so addictive!
though i hope they go back to the old red faction style gameplay, i really missed that game.
RFG was a spin off, we dont need a sequel to a spin off, we need a proper sequel to the series.
as for saints row, well i really cant see what they could do to be considered "mind blowing" but meh ill wait and see.
maybe your character gets a job at freckle b*tches!
