Visceral Wants The Dead Space 2 Demo To Impress

Demos are the best ways of determining whether or not you'll be interested in the final product.

Now, we know many survival/horror fans are already planning to purchase Dead Space 2 the instant it hits store shelves but for others, perhaps a playable demo will help them make a decision. According to what Visceral Games executive producer Steve Papoutsis told G4TV in a recent interview, the Dead Space 2 demo will be both better and more prompt than the demo released for the original game. Said Papoutsis:

"Last time, I just heard a lot of comments like 'The demo was way too hard,' or 'It kind of came out after the fact.' We're really putting an emphasis on making sure that we have something there so that new people can check it out. There's a lot of people that seem interested and we just want to give them an opportunity to check it out and get into it."

Visceral refuses to underestimate the power of a great demo and they're clearly working hard to produce a gameplay sample that will blow everyone away. Papoutsis added that their goal was to create a demo where you say, "Holy sh**; I'm going out right now, I've got to get this!" The problem with the demo for the first title was that it didn't arrive until a month after the game's release, which sorta defeats the purpose. These days, demos for big projects hit at least a week before the final date and sometimes, they're available even earlier. So we'll be looking forward to the Dead Space 2 demo, even though we know the game will rock.

The first demo was o.k, but it did not leave me wanting the game, I picked it up about a year after it came out, glad I did, it's a great game.

I got Dead Space cause it was $15 bucks at Best Buy. Couldn't pass that up. But, I would NOT have been dissappointed if I had paid $60. Tons of fun.

Why F Kmart? They have $10 off of $20 or more coupons available now through mid May. That's nothing to be mad about.

F Kmart because they never have anything I want in stock. And unlike 99% of other stores they refuse to let me buy the item I want at it's current price and simply wait for it to become available. I'd say this has happened a dozen times over the past year. There is a reason the store is going out of business, AGAIN, they advertise products then don't have them available for sale.

F kmart because every time i buy a game from them its scratched to hell because there to tight a$$ed to get in some display cases so they use the games one so instead of leaving the game in there they put it in the manual.
than you try to take it back because it wont work and they say you did it on purpose and refuse a refund.

I'm actually looking forward to a demo for this game since it seems they're mixing up the gameplay a little too much for my taste with the sequel and I'm concerned it may have the RE5 effect.

Oh and check out the forums, good conversation pertaining to rape going on in the Gaming section.

I still haven't beaten the first one, it's awesome but I got sidetracked. I'll get it if it keeps the creepfactor and isn't too blatant about being Isaac being IronMan now.

Okay, finish up quick Visceral so you can get to work on Dante's Purgatory.

I am looking forward to playing the demo of this game… I am relieved that the PSN payment fiasco is also under the blanket… I feel much better to get back into "normal" news and "normal" mode.

I heard great things about Dead Space; never played it. If they are focusing the time in the importance of the Dead Space 2 demo I'll be more than happy to check it out (the demo to Dead Space 2). If the game's demo impresses me, then this could be added to my collection.

i want it too, visceral, i want it too.
but thats never going to happen if you turn this into a fu**ing macho rambo film like the interviews make it sound you want it to.
so its your decision turn it into a rambo film and watch it flop and probably become disappointment of 2011.
or deliver on what the fans want, keep the series the same and deliver on the thrills, spills and HOLY SH*T! moments the first delivered and watch this climb to the GOTY 2011 spot.
your choice.

I'm sure its gonna be a great game. Just not for me. I just don't like horror survival games. Gets my adrenaline too pumped up and makes me insomniac.

I thought the first's demo was too hard, myself. Never bought it, but I've had a hard time keeping up with all the games I'd like to.

I actually had my finger poised over the pre-order button at Amazon, but then I noticed the game wasn't due out until next year. so yeah, this is a definite day 1 purchase for me. LOVED the first game.

Gotta agree about the demo being too hard. It was actually one of the more intense battles from the game, and I had no idea how to use the controls, other than that I looked at the diagram and made a note of which button you use to shoot.

Dead Space is a classic. Most people give up after they attempt the first level as game play seems really difficult. Once you figure out that to kill the scary monsters you need to shear their limbs off, you can progress through the game at a good clip. It's about 12 hours. Tons of weapons, armor upgrades, puzzle solving, ZERO GRAVITY battles and limited air supply scenarios.. awesome.

To call this game epic is an understatement.

I have to say, I wasn't impressed with the first demo at all. It made me decide to pass on the game.

I eventually bought it when the price dropped… and I ended up loving the game. It was the best survival horror of this gen.

Hopefully the demo for the sequel does a better job of showcasing just how awesome the game really is.

My brother told me that I would like this game so I never tried the demo. It's one of the games that stays in my collection. The atmosphere envelops you. I'm going to go back through it to get the last 7 trophies for plat.

I'm looking forward to DS2 demo, from what I've been hearing I would like a sample of what they 'tweaked' for better or worse.

im sorry but the dead space demo doesnt even begin to do it justice!

i played it but was, meh looks interesting, but i decided to pick it up anyways, glad i did cuz its one of the best horror/survival titles i have ever played, not even the old resident evils can touch it in my humble opinion
