Dead To Rights: Retribution Goes Gold, Launch Date Set

It's time to get all dark and brutal with another gritty adventure that should prove to be both engrossing and engaging.

Today, Namco Bandai has announced that Dead to Rights: Retribution has gone gold for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game places you in control of two playable characters; vice cop Jack Slate and his canine companion, Shadow. They are out to unravel the mystery of a deep conspiracy that threatens to cripple the large metropolis of Grant City, and the cop and man's best friend will rip into those who oppose their investigation. You can expect a "seamless combat system that allows players to fluidly transition between third-person shooting, hand-to-hand combat and AI partner control."

Use Jack's wide variety of weaponry and physical abilities as well as Shadow's heightened senses and stealth capabilities to dole out your own brand of justice. As for pre-order incentives, if you drop your deposit at EB Games Canada or GameStop (in-store or online), you'll get the "Jack Pack," which nets you health-boosting GAC (Grant City Anti-Crime) armor and a "guns-blazing 'action mode' that has explosive rounds." Going with Amazon gets you the "Shadow Pack," which features stealth camouflage for Shadow and a "noir mode" that turns the graphics into a dramatic black, white and blood red color scheme.

Dead to Rights: Retribution will launch in North America on April 27. For more media, check out the following videos to get a look at the gameplay, features, and behind-the-scenes details:

Where have I been? I know nothing about this game. Well… I do know that "third-person shooting, hand-to-hand combat and AI partner control" is a mouth full, but that's about it.

Cheap AI, lack of polish in the graphics department, and a watered down story await you as it did in the previous Dead to Rights.

That explains it.

Can't wait to play this game. I love the original Dead to Rights and this one look just as good.

i'll start following this a little more closely but, i am not sold on it yet… i had fun with the arcade shooting mechanics from one of the earlier entries in the series… and the story wasn't all that bad… it had it's moments…

but, it's been years since their last one… so, maybe all of this time has given the development team a chance to really give the mechanics a nice polish…

ehh, it's worth at least a look sometime down the road for me… i just don't think it's a day one purchase kind of game… it's too close to the "episodes from liberty city" and "red dead redemption" release window for me…

Dead to Rights has always been interesting but also tends to fall short, the reviews should be interesting but right now it misses my radar. Keep us up to date though Ben, sequels always have a shot.

Day one purchase for me, though I doubt i'll get to it any time soon, with FFXIII, GOWIII, Resonance of Fate, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and Just Cause 2 waiting to be played.

ive been looking forward to this for quite a while.
when are we going to get a quality cop based game?
kayne and lynch, timeshift, james bond QoS, rouge warrior, stranglehold, and this are well not exactly what i would call AAA titles.
are we forced to wait till max payne 3 comes out.
please say it aint so, my gran kids will have gran kids by the time thats out!

i miss the old spy games back on ps1 like mission impossiable and james bond tomorrow never dies or even goldeneye.
who do i have to kill to get a decent spy ops game?
syphon filter use to be the king of that world and now thats MIA so james bond took over and now thats MIA.
we need a replacement people!

the industry is saturated in military shooters, why not spread it out and change some of those into spy games?
im sick of military shooters, its getting really old really fast.
thats why i enjoyed heavy rain so much, because it is the first game i have played on my ps3 where i can honestly say i have never played this before.
i need something different, this industry needs a change you cant go running off the same sh*t till the cows come home!

I sure hope they fixed that frigging inverted horizontal camera mode from the 1st one.

It was a real biatch trying to remember to keep your all your sights reversed, and with no "normal mode" button option to even correct it either.
