Yakuza 3 launched in the US earlier this month and Yakuza 4 is already burning up the sales charts in Japan.
According to Classy Gamer citing Sega's most recent sales figures, the latest Yakuza entry has already shipped over 500,000 copies in Japan. This means it has already outsold Yakuza 3 , which apparently sold just under 500,000 (499,436) before the end of 2009. Considering all this, the series as a whole has sold over 4 million copies worldwide, which is a fantastic accomplishment; it averages out to around 1 million per title. Yakuza 3 has been pulling down great review scores here in the US and although it had to compete against Final Fantasy XIII and God of War III launched a week later, it's still a quality PS3 exclusive for March. And remember, if you want Sega to deliver Yakuza 4 at some point, you should support the franchise by purchasing Yakuza 3 …even if you have to wait until finishing FFXIII and GoWIII. For those looking for a relatively unique, open-world brawler that seems like a cross between a limited GTA and an advanced Sreets of Rage , look no further.
American gamers may never have the same enthusiasm for this series but then again, a title centering on the Japanese mafia (and always in Japanese without an English voiceover option) will logically be more popular in the Land of the Rising Sun.
I haven't seen much from this game but Yakuza 3 looks pretty good. Not really something I can afford between all the top-notch exclusives of 2010
exactly.
So when will this arrive outside of japan? 2015?
just wish we could have some world wide releases for once.
expect it when yakuza 5 comes out in japan 😀
HAHA yea probably when Yakuza 5 comes out for Japan…we'll get out Yakuza 4 – all cut up of segments.
Have you guys seen the Mega64 video making a parody out of the US Yakuza 3 – it's so hilarious:

I mean of course it's exaggerated – but hey it's sort of true in a sense. I mean hell SEGA…just give us the game…with English subtitles! Don't worry too much about cultural differences – unless there's something like a heavy all about Japanese history/pop culture quiz to actually pass the game. If it's a side kind of game…who cares? Where's the harm?
just beat 3 a couple days ago and I must say this is one of the most entertaining games I have played in a while, I mean the story is really predictable and there are some stupid parts, and it is really easy to get lost in but aside from that it is really fun. I hope 4 gets a US release as well
After completing Yakuza 3 I want the 4th so BAD! please sega you must or many more will fall to blandness!!
3 is absolutely brilliant!
I absolutely adored the character development scenes at the beginning on the Island….i MISS that stuff! I had fun seeing a sensitive side to Kazuma.
Its by far the best in the series and 4 is now one of my most wanted.
Completed the main game and I have 45% completion with over 60 hours game time!
great value for your bucks but damn…I miss the hostess bars.
I really don't understand the hype behind this game.
And I dont understand all the fps madness this gen.
Yakuza is just very niche .
We agree on that.
Support SEGA for releasing games in NA that are not in the American language? I think not.
English=good
Good grief, no!
Awful american dubbing in Tokyo or Japanese acting that has effort in Tokyo (located in Japan)?
Yakuza 1 had awful dubbing and helped make it the worst in the series.
It's ok Lotusflow3r, I'm willing to put up with the dubbing if it means UNDERSTANDING the game.
SEGA's stance has been "we're not giving it to you because you don't support it."
It has nothing to do with keeping the game authentic. It's lazy ass SEGA who is expecting American money but aren't willing to dub the thing in the American language.
They're not filling the Blu Ray with those subtitles, they can have both if they're so concerned about authenticity.
LOL Yakuza only uses voices in the cinemas and some phone calls, you are 70% of the game reading .
Less Yakuza, more Shenmue.
More both.
actually less Yakuza would means less Shenmue.
so yeah more both.
I do not mind reading the subs honestly, I just played the Demo for Yakuza 4 and I was disappointed I couldn't understand anything. The Demo was awesome, and as soon as I get the money I am buying Yakuza 3. Underrated franchise perhaps?
I had fun with the demo, unfortunately I spent my money on Hokuto Musou already, so I guess I have to wait a bit longer to play Yakuza 4.
I really wish I had money for this right now.
I really wish it wouldn't take them so damn long to release the titles thats my only draw back to the series.I don't think playing God of War 3 in late 2011 or early 2012 would be as much fun..Especially when it's technically enferior by then.
yakuza 3 is actually a really good game.
remove the babysitting, the wondering around town looking for poor miki because she looked so upset and it buy yakuza 4 in a instant!
i mean honestly, again im back at the i thought the whole point of games was to have fun thing.
again i ask what part of walking around shops looking for a little girl sounds like fun?
if i wanted to spend 3 hours walking around shops looking for someone id take my cuz andrew to the markets and that would not cost me 100 bucks!
o, and how could i forget get rid of the text based dialogue this is 2010 not freaking 1956!
everything about that game screams built on a budget.
o, and the weapons your surprisingly very restricted with what weapons you can use.
wheres the famous japanese katana sword?
in my 20+ hours playing the game the only weapons i have been able to buy are the extendable staff, nunchucks, and tonfu.
where are all the other weapons?
you walk into that guys van and see all these cool weapons up on the wall but you cant buy any of them.
WTF?
nothing worse than buying something that feels cheap and rushed!

Im so addicted too Resonance of fate I need to get yakuza 3 thats on my top list.
Yakuza 3 is really like 5 games in 1. Add Hot Shots Golf,UFC 2009, (Insert a fishing game) cuz I dont know any, a Hoyle casino-ish game, Heavy Rain, and Tekken. That all pretty much equals Yakuza 3…not saying its better than any one of those games but its definitely got a lot to do than just beat people up altho the beat em up portions I do get alot of satisfaction 🙂 I hope people do buy it and I'm against dubbing I'd rather read the subtitles with japanese voices any time!
