Trinity Universe Confirmed For North America, Europe

Two distinctly Japanese role-playing franchises will come together on the PlayStation 3, much to the delight of hardcore RPG/strategy aficionados everywhere.

Both Disgaea and Atelier have been two successful franchises for Nippon Ichi Software; we've seen plenty of great Disgaea installments since Hour of Darkness debuted on the PS2, and Atelier Iris and Atelier Rorona are examples from the other series. So, how's about combining the two? That's the aim of the DisgaeaAtelier crossover game known as Trinity Universe , and NIS has announced that it will arrive in both North America and Europe this June. However, although it's geared specifically towards the fans, they should know that instead of the standard 2D artistry they've come to expect from both franchises, Trinity Universe is in 3D. So in other words, you'll finally see the Prinny in three dimensions…whether you like it or not. And they're using an entirely new Netheruniverse for the game's setting, so it's not like this is a remake; it's a new IP that simply combines familiar faces and themes.  And there's nothing wrong with that.

Developed by Idea Factory, Trinity Universe should appeal to all those who have enjoyed the likes of Disgaea and Atelier in the past. And you probably have enjoyed them if you've been missing traditional turn-based combat…

Crossovers always worry me, because they can be really good, but sometimes they are terrible. I'm really interested to find out more about this tho.

Fantastic. Now I just need to first play Disgaea and Atelier.

Isn't there a new Atelier game for PS3 incoming?

Atelier Rorohna is already out in Japan.

Atelier Totori: Atelier of Arland is coming out on June 24 in Japan.

Sounds interesting as long as the 3D you're referring to is the 3D modeling shown in the picture and not that new nonsense that's coming out with the glasses peripheral.

Wait, is Atelier as mind numbingly strategy as Disgaea? (Not to knock it, I saw the merits in Disgaea 3 but can't get past the chess board idea)

I wouldn't really call that the kind of turn based combat I want to return.

Oh, BTW, if you like Anime, and you play around in Home at all, you might like to know that there is a new Personal Space in Home specifically designed for Anime fans. It's set in a penthouse overlooking a sort of Neo Tokyo from 2050.

I'll be getting mine later today.

The anime home space is a futuristic one. Kind of a cross between Blade Runner with the flying cars, skyscrapers and lights; and something like Neo Genesis Evangelion with computer consoles and workstation chairs. It's less a penthouse apartment as it is a penthouse hideout for an anime hero.

Kinda disappointed at the lack of cute anime babe art adorning the walls, and there's no furniture for it yet. On the other hand it looks like you are *in* one of those futuristic anime shows or movies. So, just make yourself a sexy anime babe avatar and you're sorted!

The highlight, perhaps, is a set of glass shelves which makes a really good trophy case for any trinkets you've picked up in home. Mix in a couple of lava lamps or some such, and you have a nice display area for your stuff.

Tales of the World looks really good, so this one should be pretty good too! And Tales of the World is a PSP game. :p
