Although they kept saying the game was a multiplatform title, PlayStation 3 owners went wanting when it released last year for the Xbox 360 and PC.
SouthPeak's anticipated shooter, Section 8 , dropped in early September of 2009 and at the time, they still claimed it would eventually come to the PS3. Well, after more than a few months of waiting, it appears it is finally coming: as revealed by TimeGate over at the game's official site , PS3 owners "will get their chance to 'burn-in' and join the fight on Section 8 ." The game will ship with a single-player campaign, instant action mode, and what should be an entertaining multiplayer mode that boasts 11 maps, 3 of which will be exclusive to Sony's platform. Perhaps most interesting of all is the fact that you'll have the option of either purchasing the standard Blu-Ray disc version or the downloadable version that will be on the PlayStation Network. Said Adel Chaveleh, CEO of TimeGate Studios:
"Section 8 will be an unforgettable experience for first-person shooter fans on the PlayStation®3 system since there's nothing quite like it on the PlayStation Network. We're sure fans will agree that Section 8 is a breath of fresh air for gamers tired of stale, ‘me-too' multiplayer first-person shooters that fail to innovate."
And here's the debut trailer:
The press release adds that Section 8 is the first PS3 title "to include support for TimeGate Studios' proprietary TGNServer technology," which lets users host 32-player games from their home PC. The game also features two "genre-changing features" in the form of "burn-in spawning and dynamic combat missions (DCMs)." The burn-in spawning lets you drop anywhere into the map to avoid spawn kills and DCMs throw mission objectives at you in real-time. Should be pretty cool; we'll be sure to check it out when it arrives this spring.

Looks like a B rated Halo look alike to me,they should of kept this on xbox. Don't need anymore crappy FPS thanks but no thanks.
Skip. Still haven't finished Killzone 2, Resistence 2, God of War 3 or Final Fantasy XIII yet.
Keep your ancient mediocre shooters.
I don't trust buying things from the PSN Store because of loss of data. I had the Warhawk booster pack on my last PS3; and the system broke and I had to get a new one. By the time I tried to retrieve my ALREADY PURCHASED content on my new system, it had been merged with other booster packs. Now I have to pay extra, including the previous amount that payed for the Omega Factory, to be able to play the booster pack. What a total rip off!!! I will stick with BD.
You should be able to download it from your download list. I bought all three as a package and they appear as separate items on my download list. I just had to re-download them again yesterday.
Like how you quoted the "genre-changing features" and "burn-in spawning and dynamic combat missions (DCMs)."
Honestly it may be a game changer for 360 games, but we've had "dynamic combat" since Killzone 2 and now with MAG. As for burn-in spawning, that can't be too much different from Killzone 2's spawn options.
I don't think I'll be playing this game. I'll try out a FREE demo, but doubtful it will impress.
I saw the burn in spawn on G4 and pretty much you sky dive to the spot you want to spawn at.
dont waste your time, i picked this up for PC when it released….. o boy was that a mistake!
Yeah, I don't get it…I heard this was slightly mediocre at best when it came out on other systems and disappeared quickly. Maybe as good as HAZE???
Here it is Wednesday and we've got our 5th shooter announcement of the week. Man, would this genre just die already? If I hear "genre changing" or "revolutionary" one more time I'm gonna barf.
I'm not going to complain about another game on the system but it should've released at the same time. Microsoft probably did their timed exclusive thing thinking it would be huge and it flopped. I admit the initial trailer looked great but after seeing the gameplay itself I was underwhelmed. Someone will like it though.
Ben the statement "SouthPeak's anticipated shooter"
That is questionable at best. Lol anticipated shooter, you make me laugh.
Not sure if that comment was from you or if it was from southpeak, either way, hilarious.
this is what makes xbox fanboys thrive, by sony thinking we want this game.. im fine with mw2 and bfbc2… and with so many better games coming out on ps3 soon i wont even think about buying this game
While checking out the video section at the PS Store, I found a "NEW" second video of Section-8 that's actually 100 times better than the one on this page. Go check it out.
BTW, while a-hunting today in GS, I found that 360's Sec-8 for the 360 was 1/2 price this week only, for only $19.99, so I picked it up(I could care less about the extra 3 MP maps I would have gotten on the PS3, cause I don't do multi-player anyway, and $19.99 brand new, is always better than $59.99, so says my Weight-Watcher's Wallet.
FYI, the game, "Prototype" on the PS3, is also on sale for 1/2 price this week too for $19.99.
(I just had to snatch that one up too.)
