It’s The Dog Days Of Summer For Kane & Lynch 2

The original was fun despite a few significant flaws and the sequel appears grittier, darker and hopefully, it will be more polished and refined.

IO Interactive, as part of Square-Enix Europe, has announced that Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days will release for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in North America on August 24 and three days later in Europe and other PAL territories. From what we've seen thus far, this is one game that could make you wince and grimace every few minutes; it's just that crazy and sadistic. Said Niels Jorgensen, IO general manager:

"We believe the unique visuals and relentless gameplay has created an intensity never delivered in a videogame before. In a genre where so many games look and feel the same, Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days will make people double-take. We think it's going to make quite an impression."

They say the title will introduce "a new visual experience inspired by documentary filmmakers and the user-generated era." The camera will be a huge part of the gameplay as everything appears to rush forward in a chaotic, unscripted manner. We'll also receive the benefit of all new multiplayer modes (Undercover Cop, Cops & Robbers, etc.), plus the return of the popular Fragile Alliance mode. If you would like to view the latest trailer, which features some seriously disturbing gameplay footage, be sure to visit the game's official site . See what we mean? This one's gonna be nuts …let's hope the mechanics are sound.

I was not expecting that… Wow. Watching that video makes me so hyped for this game! It wasn't even on my radar before. I didn't play the first one so I hope it wont affect the story, or enjoyment of this one.

huh, interesting, hope they do that shaky came well though, I'd hate for an interesting idea to turn crap through people getting headaches from the camera constantly being knocked around.

Cant watch the vid from my ps3, but it sounds a bit like Manhunt given John's description and I imagine they took a page out of Manhunt's book if they really wanted to do gritty and shock value right. That seems to be how they want to market it anyway.

Nice to see a launch date for this game. The first one was a sleeper.

im still on the fence with this.
it looks really cool from what we have seen, but thats part of the problem we have barley seen anything!
it also looks really stupid and cheesy, thats a double edged sword, it could be cheesy and funny or just completley stupid and outrageous.

path A sleeper hit of the year.
path B predictable disaster of the year.
take your pick!

I'm gonna have to say that it's easy to make claims, it's another to deliver.

I was very disappointed with the control mechanics of the last kane and lynch I played, to the point that I did not buy it and have had no desire to play it.

If this turns out to be a turn around from my previous experience, then I'm sure it will receive a good review from psx and I can then look into trying the game.

Its got some pretty dark themes, but it doesn't get disturbing for me until they start bending people's fingers backwards in a torture session (or just plain cutting them off like Denzel Washington in Man on Fire).

The 1st game was a bit balky but I had fun with it.

I do need to go back & finish it, seeing that I got stuck at the point where you're trying to kill the driver of that humongous dump truck.
