Deus Ex: Human Revolution Unveiled Via Promo Trailer

The game has been lurking behind the curtain for quite some time but thankfully, the official unveiling isn't far off.

A new entry in the award-winning Deus Ex franchise will be headed our way and yes, it will indeed be available on the PlayStation 3. As seen at the end of the new promotional trailer , the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC are all listed as targeted platforms for Deus Ex: Human Revolution . The trailer won't show you anything in the way of gameplay but it does provide us with a preliminary sense of the game's atmosphere and storyline. Hardcore followers of the series may be a bit thrown; it doesn't really seem to follow in the footsteps of past installments like Invisible War . But with Eidos and Square-Enix at the helm, we should've figured they'd overhaul the concept and issue a true "next-gen" Deus Ex that is capable of bringing in a horde of new fans. They're expecting Human Revolution to arrive at E3 this year in June, which means it'll certainly draw plenty of attention during the show. This is one game that fans have been waiting on for a very long time, and their patience should ultimately be rewarded.

As for a release date, nobody really knows, but maybe we could guess at a late 2010 or early 2011 launch. It'd be great to have this one for the holiday season; that's for damn sure.

I missed out on the first game, but I absolutely loved the second. I'm hoping this one will surpass (or at least live up to) it.

I watched some gameplay videos of the first two games, and watching this teaser trailer I'm so excited about this!

If anyone is wondering, its a prequel to the first two games.

I'm not aware of this franchise. Can anyone give me a brief overview of it?

Trailer looked interesting bty. It had a bit of that MGS4 epic music vibe to it, if you know what I mean.

*edit

Is this Eidos and Square Enix's first collaboration project since the two merged?

@daus26,

Here's a bunch of info on the DE series…

Deus Ex is a cyberpunk-themed action role-playing game which combines game-play elements of first-person shooters with those of role playing games.

Set in a dystopian world during the 2050s, the central plot follows rookie United Nations Anti-Terrorist Coalition agent JC Denton, as he sets out to combat terrorist forces, which have become increasingly prevalent in a world slipping ever further into chaos. As the plot unfolds, Denton becomes entangled in a deep and ancient conspiracy, encountering fictional recreations of organizations such as Majestic 12, the Illuminati, and the Hong Kong Triads throughout his journey.

The first Deus Ex came out on the PC & ported to the Macintosh, then the 2nd "Deus Ex: The Conspiracy" came over to the PS2, & the 3rd "Deus Ex: Invisible Wars" went to Windows & the original Xbox

FYI, there's another game that was actually supposed to be the next sequel to DE:IW, and it's called "Project Snowblind" (on the older xbox). They wanted to make the next DE a multi-player game, but then decided to make Projec:Snowblind as it's own stand-alone game. So it's still considered as the "spiritual" sucessor to the DE series by many purist's.

BTW, when DE originally came out, it garnered over 64 GOTY & "Best OF" major awards

I loved the first two games, ok well I loved the first game and the second game was good but I am not wholly decided on this third instalment. I am just hoping they don't sacrifice gameplay and story and what they series used to be for pretty graphics and "wow" factor.

A SE/Eidos pairing shouldn't be SO bad. 80% of the time Eidos makes great games with great graphics and we all know how SE rolls. IMHO if SE/E takes their time they may make a game that rivals the rivals of MGS.

Have to agree with you there. My only question right now is, what platform will they be starting with?

That will pretty much decide whether my interests goes up or down. We shall see.

If SE is doing anything more than publishing this thing's in trouble.

SE is doing the cutscenes as well.

Deus Ex was one of the best games the west has ever made.

Invisible war was just an ok fps.

We want it to venture away from Invisible war, and it looks like that's the case…. but i have full doubt over it still. Not one from the original team is at the helm and that's never worked out for deep games (see Silent Hill).

Them Deus Ex fans who have waited over a decade will be studying E3 like a hawk….it has no way of succeeding i don't think….a decade wait, sloppy sequel, new developers, twitch game generation……Enix.

But, i could be wrong…it could end up as a new western great….

…*sigh*

If its helps, The writers for this game are "working closely" with the original writer from the two previous games.

I really hope SE grows a brain & takes the series back to it's roots.

But since this is SE we're talking about, & the fact is that they want to change everything we've known into something else, I'm kind of think it's now "over" for saving it it's original purity.(I sure hope I'm wrong though)
