It was unveiled at E3 last year but this new unveiling is a bit more official; it features the actual name of the product.
Previously rumored to be known as the "Arc," the new motion sensing technology will be called PlayStation Move. We received the press release not long after it was shown during Sony's press conference at this year's Game Developers Conference, and if you want some actual hands-on opinions, go visit Engadget . They're saying this dual unit will offer a "motion-based, high-definition gaming experience unlike anything on the market." We will also receive the sub-controller at the same time; it will be used in conjunction with the main motion controller for "intuitive navigation of in-game characters and objects." Of course, you will need the PlayStation Eye in order for Move to "move" and while we don't yet have pricing for the latter, they say the total setup will cost you less than $100. Furthermore, one of the reasons the technology was delayed from the spring to the fall was because Sony wanted some compatible titles available for the launch. And during the display of Move at GDC, they showed off Sports Champions , MoveParty , and Motion Fighters .
Here's the specifics of the release:
"The combination of the PS3 system and PlayStation Eye camera detects the precise movement, angle, and absolute position in 3D space of PlayStation Move motion controller, allowing users to intuitively play the game as if they themselves are within the game. PlayStation Move motion controller delivers unmatched accuracy through its advanced motion sensors, including a three-axis gyroscope, a three-axis accelerometer, and a terrestrial magnetic field sensor, as well as a color-changing sphere that is tracked by PlayStation Eye camera. Through PlayStation Move system, both fast and subtle motion can be detected, whether the user is swinging a tennis racket, or painting with a brush. With PlayStation Move motion controller, users can provide direct input through action buttons and an analog trigger, while receiving physical feedback from rumble functionality and visual feedback from the sphere's ability to display a variety of different colors. Furthermore, PlayStation Eye camera can capture the player's voice or image, enabling augmented reality experiences."
A grand total of 36 third-party developers and publishers are ready to support PlayStation Move and in fiscal year 2010, SCE Worldwide Studios will provide us with over 20 games "that are either dedicated to or supported with the PlayStation Move platform." So how's all this strike you?
I wonder… My wife will like the Move too.
It vibrates so…
This is the first time I have seen the "nunchuck" like 2nd device. In all the previous demos I have seen at e3, and what not it was only the wand. I think that all the people that are complaining you might have to buy two in order to play multiple games that hopefully the nunchuck also contains motion controls, so the demo's that you have seen that utilize two wands will actually end up using the wand and nunchuck. Can anyone confirm that?
if only they can now produce a decent cricket game, am looking to you EA! its the second most followed sport in the world, this could be brilliant for a cricket game, not the drivell ashes cricket that has been released on the wii, or the total utter trash that them shovel ware party games, like beach cricket have produced.
wait… "while receiving physical feedback from rumble functionality"
you mean it vibrates too? oh dear…
Will I be able to buy it without the eye? Since I already have one.
Also, it isn't exacly the same as the Wii controller. It isn't like they both have motion sensors and only the main one has a pointer and the secondary a thumbstick…
you can get one without the camera, I'm sure sony realizes that lots of people already have the camera and there is no need at all for 2.
Move is a cool name but I don't know… I'm a fan of traditional gaming more than gimmick gaming. If I wanted to jump around my room swinging my arms, I would've bought a Wii.
That being said, if EyePet finally comes out here in North America and you HAVE to use the Move to play it, I'll be disappointed. I'll also be importing my first title.
The Move has nothing to do with Eyepet. You need the PS-EYE camera but that is it. It has been on sale in the U.K for some time.
Don't be so damn lazy. You sound like a fat boy too me.*Just a guess though.*
The Move can be used with Eye-pet though. But it is not a requirement, otherwise it would be sold with the software.
Playstation move. Pretty cool, straigh forward name.
So whats natal? Xbox flow? Xbox fluid? Xbox spaz?

Xbox spaz. People look like they are having some type of fit when playing it, then when the latency issues cause them to loose any lame game they were playing they will throw a wobbly!
Jump in and spaz with xbox 360.

SOULCALIBUR WITH MOVE FTW!!!
I like that idea a whole lot. Perhaps Namco can be persuaded…
Auto reply, Dynasty Warriors with move!!!!
the end begins?
UFC and Maybe even driving games could be cool?
But I would like to see a gun game where you can attach this to a gun mold like the WII marksman add-on and see how cool i'll be until then!!!
Sixaxis is good enough for me when talking about driving games, I'm pretty sure my girl would improve a lot with sixaxis as she was always nodding and moving the joystick while playing Crash Team Racing on psx!

UFC would be the sh1t with motion!
@ doc Brown.. AWESOME Name and picture Gotta love back to the future..
UFC would be really cool.
white knight chronicles 2 with the move, I can't wait.
Sub-controller = fail.
Each and every Move controller should have everything (globe, buttons, analog stick, etc.) that both these prototypes have, so that we only have to buy one new type of controller.
Don't follow Nintendo's lead on this, Sony. Wiimote + nunchuck + Wii Motion Plus (+ Classic controller) for each player = most of why I haven't bought a Wii.
