Ben-DutkaWe have to assume that the original creator for a franchise would also be a sequel's biggest critic. But David Jaffe has had nothing but good things to say about God of War III , and now that he's had a chance to play it, that high praise continues.
He posted an update over at his Criminal Crackdown blog , where he talks about the combined intrigue of playing an amazing title and knowing he was the brains behind the initial concept. He says, "for the first time, I can actually see how the game/God of War formula feels to a normal player!" He labels this as a great "learning opportunity" and heaps some very high praise on the SCEA Santa Monica team responsible for producing this definite masterpiece. Wrote Jaffe:
"…I really don't think there has EVER been a game that has executed at this level! Presentation and production wise, this is a crazy ass bar raising simply staggering game! And the execution of the story telling process? Fu**ing fantastic (amazing opening credits)! Amazing job all around!"
You'll see our review very soon and although we don't wish to spoil anything, we will say we're likely to agree with Jaffe's analysis. Then again, for fans of the franchise and for those who have been following all the GoWIII updates for the past year or so, this likely won't come as any big shock. In some ways, we're sad that we won't be seeing the GoW name for quite some time – SCEA says they plan to "put it to bed for a while" – but in other ways, what a way to finish a trilogy! Gotta go out with a bang, you know?

Just pre-ordered my copy yesterday. Simply put I can't wait for this game. March 16 can't come quick enough.

I gotta tell you, if GOWIII is as good as the first two, with the level of intensity ps3 technology allows, GOWIII might turn out to be the game of the year.
ONLY GT5 stands a chance imo

There are a lot of good games this year, but I think it will come down to this, mass effect 2, the last guardian, and who knows, maybe peace walker.

I definitely agree that Mass Effect 2 is in the running for GOTY simply because I've finished the game 3 times now, each experience was a little different from the last and I would love to start a new game, but gotta make time for both FFXIII and GOWIII. Hopefully, I get that same feeling from God Of War III.
Yeah I read some of his ranting today, that dude has some serious mental problems but I guess that's what it takes to begin something as amazing as the GOW trilogy.
Can't wait to read your reviews and especially the great hoopla the game will cause on this site come the ides of March.
I will certainly be getting GOWIII, but as someone who lives and breaths RPGs I will probably still be working on WKC and FFXIII when it releases, and oh crap Resonance of Fate comes out on the same day! Can't they space out all these great games a little? I feel broke and spoiled, but mostly broke 🙂

Every update I read about this game is just getting me pumped. Thank god I have exams this weeks, because GOWIII would be the only thing on my mind and plus that leaves next week open to play what I already feel is GOTY. Things could change, but I don't see anything competing with this. Someone said Mass Effect 2, and even though I have not played it, lets just say, I want an Xbox so I can, but anyway, can March 16 just come already.
I'm not surprised by this statement, I haven't heard a single poor or disparaging comment on this game, I highly doubted that Jaffe would be the one to give it one.
Heck, I'd be surprised to hear anyone give an honest negative comment.
I was expecting these reactions by everyone to GoW3, it is after all a ps3 exclusive. How many of our exclusive games are going to raise the bar for gaming as we know it? I say every exclusive since KZ2 has raised a bar in it's own way.
Every single time I finish the GOW3 demo, at the end when you're flying through the vent getting ready to take on the titan, I get this unbelievable sensation. The impossibility of it all makes the game so much more amazing! March 16th needs to get here faster. I'm going to collect and conquer that game day 1!

game informer gave it a ten and the second opinion was a ten, doesnt happen often.
like how they got the original actor of perseus to resume his role for the voice, they did the same thing for some other characters hehe

Considering how Jaffe spoke about the 'development' team at Santa Monica Studios before while working on the previous games, I'm sure Stig and his team is pleased to finally get the acknowledgement they deserve from the dude.
I always wonder why he would want to leave God of War franchise to pursue "other opportunities". I mean can't he stay with GOW and pruse other interests at the same time? Anyway, I'm glad he loves the game he started it.
