During Take-Two's financial report , journalists learned that the highly anticipated Western-themed Red Dead Redemption wouldn't hit its original April 27 launch date. But the new date is only a few weeks down the road; it's now set for May 18 in North America and May 21 in other regions. Take-Two chairman Strass Zelnick confirmed later that RDR has been delayed in order to "extend the game's pre-release marketing period." That's a fancy way of saying they want more time to build up the hype through advertising. The only other problem is that one of the company's upcoming titles may also get pushed out of the fourth fiscal quarter; L.A. Noire , Mafia II , Max Payne 3 and Sid Meier's Civilization V are all set to release in the final fiscal quarter for 2010, but Take-Two "could potentially move" one of them into 2011. We're hoping L.A. Noire holds onto its estimated September launch date because it's the most interesting to us right now, but we also want the new Max Payne ASAP, too. At least we won't have to wait for RDR for too much longer; that one is gonna rock.
And it's good that we have a reason for the delay, and that reason makes sense. The competition in this generation has hit an all-time high, so advertising is more important than ever.

I haven't seen anything that's impressive about RDR yet so I'll keep my eyes on it.
Won't it now compete with MGS: Peace Walker?
Of course, the games will be on seperate platforms, but for the people with a PSP & PS3/360 & can only afford MGS: PW or RDR, those games would be competition to one another.
RDR has more emphasis on shooters than GTA. This does not have direct competition with MGS's stealth game.
Damn, this is the main one I'm looking forward to after GoW3 so delaying it solely to build up hype is an annoyance.
A delay for more work to be put in a game is a blessing in disguise, this is just a tease.
Oh well at least my ps3 is over that y2k bug.
"RDR" I can wait for, it looks fantastic though admittedly… I have a feeling though that "L.A. Noir" will probably be delayed into 2011 if they want to do all that fancy stuff on it…

i swear to god if 2K dont release L.A. Noire, Mafia II, Max Payne 3 by the end of the year they can kiss my money goodbye for good!

developers, just because PD, remedy, QD, activision blizzard, valve, Id,3D relms take 5 years to produce one freaking game does not mean yous have to follow suit.

Not a fan of westerns but i gotta say i've played a couple of really fun old west style games. This one has my interest but it'll have to have a price drop before it'll fit into my budget with everything else.
NOOOOOOOOO!!!! this news sucks… ohh well, i guess it just gives me more time to play the episodes of liberty city before i get me hands on RDR…
please ecuse my language and i have had a sh*t day and this has just made it a LOT worse, now i have to say, F*CK R* all they ever f*cking do is delay games for no reason AT ALL and i am completly sick of the gaming world with all of its stupid delays…. i might just completly STOP buying and playing on games!
Please Please Please don't delay Mafia II, Max Payne 3, or L.A. Noire. I'm planing on pre ordering all of them plus Red Dead Redemption. I have a $200 amazon gift card. Lucky me 🙂

Did you know that people who only play on the PC are buying a console just to play this game? The game really looks that good! Keep an eye out for it if you like westerns!
I think Take 2 means its FY 2011, which is a delay until X-mas 2010. I also believe Mafia 2 was the delayed title, coming in Oct. – Dec. 2010.
Won't this have to compete with Lost Planet 2 and MGS: Peace Walker now?
