Take Naughty Dog boss Evan Wells, for instance. Only months after producing what is arguably the best title of the generation in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves , Wells sat down and played SCEA Santa Monica's God of War III (yeah, be jealous). You would think it'd take a whole hell of a lot to impress someone who oversaw one of the most impressive interactive achievements thus far, but if there's one game that could do it, it's GoWIII. Check out what Wells said over at his Twitter page :
"Finished GOW3 last night! Stunning! No reason not to buy this game if you have a PS3, and if you don't, you should buy one to play it!"
Competition is always healthy, provided those involved are always open to new ideas and are willing to compliment their rivals. And while SCEA isn't really a "rival" for Naughty Dog, they are two different development studios and you can bet they'll cue off each other. Uncharted 2 and God of War III might technically fall into the same category (we'd put one in the "Action" category and one in the "Action/adventure" category), they're two very different experiences. Wells obviously had fun with it; he isn't ignoring what's going on around him. And hey, remember when GoWIII director Stig Asmussen said they were using Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2 as visual benchmarks for his game?

Game Developer's Conspiracy: Honor Among Exclusive Developers.
Classic give and take scenario. One exclusive developer talks up another, then that developer repays the support by talking up the other developer's titles. See where I'm going with this. Everybody exclusive…who stands for something benefits. Now this is one conspiracy I can tolerate…no, not tolerate…support even.
Developers like theses guys are the right type. I've seen how these guys talk about theirs games and and how passionate they are even though the work is grueling.
This is why devs like Naughty and Santa will be long lived. Putting that much devotion and heart into making a game will only breed an excellent game.
As amazing as God of War III, I'm really anticipating the GT5 trailer that is "supposedly" supposed to be included in the bonus section in the game, along with Heavy Rain and other trailers.
Some source say it's indeed a trailer we've never seen before, and it makes sense because there haven't been a GT5 trailer that's 2:42 in length.
Uncharted 2 alone should be worth the purchase for PS3, but there are really many many damn good reasons why you should own a PS3 if you haven't ready.
As for me personally. I've always love Sony brand, and I always will. I bought everything Sony, the tv, mp3 player, dvds, PSOne, PS2, PS3, PSP, etc.
I bought my PS3 because of how much I've loved the Playstation brand throughout it's lifetime, not just because of one specific game. Never have I bought a console just to play a specific title.
I bought a Wii to play Twilight Princess and Metroid Prime 3. and i dont regret it.
And Punch-Out and Mario Kart. As well as the catalog of games you can get from all the different older systems. I don't regret buying one either. Nintendo has never really let me down throughout their history as well. Well there was that Virtual Boy fiasco.

In all honesty; if you look at the top 10-20 Wii games – the highest scoring that is – it really is not a bad system. There are some good I.P's on it, and whilst the visual fidelity will never match that of the PS3, if the game is good, if it's playable and enjoyable and if the games production values are high, you feel money is not wasted and you can actually feel that you have a decent collection of sorts…
If I had a Wii now, I probably would have had quite a nice collection going already… Nintendo has a good pedigree of I.P. and who knows, Nintendo may have the last laugh one day when they release a very power next generation console before we have time to really know what is going on… Nintendo could still be the dark horse to emerge in the coming 5 years or so…
…and in my previous posts, lest us not forget Apple… do you think they are not noticing what Nintendo, M$ and Sony are doing… they could also have a "joker" in the pack!

my wii is fantastic! ive logged about an hour on it but my kids have a couple million. lol. but it also got a controller into my wifes hand! now that was a christmas present well worth anything i paid for it!
Interestingly, I actually bought the original Xbox, just for Splinter Cell.
I'm such a fan of MGS, that anything that resembled it was worth playing. haha

I can't wait for GOWIII…. Getting Heavy Rain this weekend so I will have that to keep me busy till GOW drops…. Good times indeed.
On a side note I was in one of our gaming stores over the weekend and the idiot behind the desk tried to convince me the FFXIII is an Xbox exclusive and that I should buy a console for that game…. The more I told him it's NOT exclusive the more he tried to tell me not to hate the Xbox and just accept defeat… So I punched his lights out and I'm now banned from the center….
Nah not really but it happened in my mind. I just told him that seeing he has no clue when it comes to the products they sell I will no longer support them at all and I will make sure everyone I know don't support them either.
Sounds almost like what happened to me here in a local Gamestop. I was in browsing through the used games, seeing if there was anything worth getting. There wasn't. So I decided to ask if they were going to get any of the Final Fantasy XIII Collector's Editions in at some point. I know it's a PAL territory exclusive. At least it was last I checked. But no harm in asking is there? When I was told no, the clerk asked if I wanted to pre-order the Xbox version. Of course I say no.
"But it's the first Final Fantasy that's going to be a Xbox exclusive." The clerk says, smiling and looking pretty pleased with himself. Now since I was trying to remain polite, I reply a simple: "No, it's not."
"Yes it is. They were going to put it on the PS3 but they changed their mind and now the 360 is getting it instead." His eyes light up and I swear I could hear the musical tones of Hallelujah playing out from somewhere.
After I compose myself from a sudden case of laughter, I begin to tell him that it was designed on the PS3 before being ported over to the Xbox. And how it's going to be 3 discs compared to the one Blu-Ray. And how the Sony version will have lossless audio and uncompressed 1080p cutscenes and run at 720p while the 360 version will have 576p cutscenes using Bink video and run at 576p. Again, at last I heard. And various other facts that have already been released and readily available to find. To which the clerk proceedes to laugh at me?? And tells me I don't know what I'm talking about?? And that he works at a game store so he knows more than I do??
So what do I do? I challenged him. I asked him to prove me wrong on all that I have said. I even gave him incentive. I told him if he could prove that he was right and I was wrong, that I'd buy a 360 right there on the spot and whatever games he would recommend for it, and preorder FFXIII for it. If he couldn't prove me wrong, then he would buy me two games of my choice. Pretty fair right?
Needless to say I've been enjoying Heavy Rain and Bioshock 2.

I've excepted the fact that Microsoft has brainwashed some people but are the so delirious as to think that everyone is a fool? I've met people just like that and when i do i think i'm another dimension.
Its like MS is trying to convince themselves Sony doesn't exist. Anyone that has been into Final Fantasy friken knows that it started on Nintendo and then became immensely more popular as a PLAYSTATION exclusive… fin

Just to ad one thing…. In SA where I live we are lucky the PS3 community and gaming stores are pro PS3 and outnumber the Xbox 4-1. No jokes.

Well, considering this is a US-based site, I wouldn't blame a person for assuming you meant USD by 'bucks'. Just to avoid future confusion, you could add 'AUD', seeing how we do have a large international readership from many different countries using many different currencies.

just like other platforms i certainly want to play alan wake and crackdown 2, but i dont want to play them so much as to spend 400 AUD on the console than 200 for the games.
or even the PSP, i wanted to buy one so i could play syphon filter logans shadow and broken mirror but not enough to spend 300 + 50 for each game.

But Wells and I know that Uncharted 2 will still stand above GOWIII after all is said and done at Metacritic.
Now on topic I'd just like to say that I hope and believe that, people who work in the gaming industry, they like to play video games.
So his comment seems legit to me. If i got a job making video games, I'd still play them. I'd then love to tell my wife that i had to bring work home with me. 😉

What's so wrong when a PS-exclusive developer expresses his valid and honest opinion about a PS-exclusive game he has actually played and finished? I am willing to bet that Evan Wells would pretty much say the same thing about any other game that has blown him away, be it an exclusive game or not. Does the fact that classy developers exist seem alien to you? I guess you have never seen any PS-exclusive developers at work then. Which begs the question… "What are you doing here?"

wether it be good developers relationship or marketing strategy it works, i prefer this instead of bashing.
i always lol at some of your great experiences on xbot sales-person, too bad in Mauritius we don't have such shop, it's always like that:
seller: 'what do YOU want, (sometimes we do have some polite to say, 'hello yes!')
customer: FFX13
seller: it's Rs 200 (USD 6.25)!
customer: no i want for PS3
seller: OK, it's Rs 2500 (USD 78.125) then
customer: oooh!
still thank god we have some other DEALERS that sell normal price LOL or we can still buy online (like i do)
well it also means that it's really difficult to find non-copied/pirated PC or Xbox360 games on the island, even if MS is trying hard.
PS3 games still has a good sale & i have a ratio of 3:1 of friends with PS vs Xbox
God of War series is one of the reason i bought a PS2 & later on the PS3, but i've been hit with so many great titles later on like Heavenly sword, Uncharted DF & now with UC2 being so great, i knew was right chosing it.
So yes, God of War 3 is a system seller & can't wait for it!

just played the demo last night, it was very good. Although there wasn't anything a whole lot "new" or dreastically different to the gameplay. It's still a blast though, consistently good.
Very cool, maybe next Santa Monica will do an adventure game now and Naughty Dog can do straight action.
And GG doing an Open World.
Now if only fanboys could behave this way…
