LittleBigPlanet Hits 2 Million User-Generated Levels

LittleBigPlanet is the pioneer of "Create, Play, Share," a concept soon to be built upon with the release of ModNation Racers .

Over the past few years, LBP has enjoyed the fruits of an imaginative player's labor, and all that labor has resulted in over 2 million user-generated levels ! Didn't we just do an article about LBP hitting 1 million…? It seems like yesterday. Visit that link to check out the best original levels available, plus the new commercial to promote the ongoing creativity found in the LittleBigPlanet community. The game's official site also features tons of new content, and Sony attributes this rise to PSP owners as well; lest we forget, LBP PSP came out last year. If you haven't jumped into LBP in the past year or so, you might want to give it another try and flex your creative muscle. You should really check out some of those user-generated levels…they're just plain awesome and even Media Molecule has expressed their pleasure at seeing such a huge amount of talent and ingenuity. Really, it's the reason they made this game in the first place.

The developers have often said they won't be producing a sequel, but that's just fine with us. LBP is a constantly growing game with almost limitless possibilities, so what do we need LittleBigPlanet 2 for?

It's really a shame, if I were a great deal younger when this came out I know I could create some really great levels. It's a fantastic game but as an adult I just don't have the time to put into creating neat stuff anymore.

Wonder what's after Modnation in the Create, Play, Share family.

this was the only 08 game i actually really liked.
R2 was the disappointment of the year, took everything good about resistance threw it out the window and everything bad somehow got worse.
ive always been a avid insomniac fan saying they dont know how to make a bad game, but boy was i wrong!
cant wait till mod nation racers comes out though, im in the beta and absolutely loving it to death i cant wait to give the sp modes a whirl.
about fu**ing time we got some car combat games on the ps3, up until now the only car combat game on the ps3 is full auto battle lines 2 and thats not exactly a fantastic title.

Oh, come on. Say it's not your favorite of the series, but does that make it a bad game? It was the first to introduce 64 player maps this generation, and also has the largest boss battles. It is a fun game. Sure, the weapon wheel was dropped to pick up the pace of the action, but did carrying only two weapons stop you from enjoying KZ2? At least, you got to decide which weapons you carried (KZ2 allowed you two choose your two-handed weapon, but only occasionally allowed you to choose your handgun). I'm not dogging on KZ2, as it is one of my favorites, but IMO, R2 weighed in a bit more in the fun-factor department.

no its not a bad game, but than saying that is like saying id rather be legally blind than have my eyes gouged out.
ones less painful than the other, but neither are exactly things we would want.
nothing more annoying than when a series goes backwards.

i would, but i got a slim ps3 so i cant play ps2 games.
cant buy one either because im struggling to buy all the ps3 games i want, let alone upgrade my PC for 3D gaming, let alone pc games, let alone psp games.
o, and i need to get a new car mines falling to pieces!
wheres the money tree when you need it?

Glad to be a part of those 2 million 🙂
Levels in this game take some real dedication/art skills.

Hopefully I can man-up and start making some levels again

I managed to find some time last summer to be build one traditional style platform level, the kind I always dreamed to play back when I use to play Alex Kidd and the like on the Master System.
If some of you old school / next gen fans feel the inclination, please check out my "Waterfall Hill: Raiders of the lost bubbles".
I have to say that no matter how smashing Uncharted 2 or how hectic Ratchet and Clank are, LBP is still my favourite this generation. And it is so because of the tools given to players and the use they have made of them.
