John-ShepardAlthough the Deus Ex name has come to consoles before, the next title has only been confirmed for the PC.
However, we keep hearing whispers that Deus Ex 3 might indeed be coming to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The latest bit of evidence comes from LinkedIn , where Eidos Montreal production manager Martin Dubeau lists the game as coming to all three major platforms. He apparently started work on the project just last month and other profiles on the same website also show that same evidence (take Arnaud Storq's profile , for instance). Obviously, this is a franchise that began its life on the PC and most of the die-hard fans are likely owners of gaming-quality PC rigs. But with the power of the current consoles and the common desire to appeal to as wide of an audience as humanly possible, it wouldn't be surprising to find Deus Ex 3 on the PS3 and 360. The question is whether or not we've got the appropriate enthusiastic fan base amongst the console owners; how many of you enjoyed past entries like Invisible War ? I certainly did, and I'd welcome another series installment for either the PS3 or 360.
We'll still have to wait for the official announcement of the intended platforms, but for now, we like the chances that Deus Ex 3 will eventually head to Sony's and Microsoft's systems.

ive only heard the name. never played them, and i certainly didn't think it was actually any good.

Set in a dystopian world during the 2050s, the central plot follows rookie "United Nations Anti-Terrorist Coalition" agent JC Denton, as he sets out to combat terrorist forces, which have become increasingly prevalent in a world slipping ever further into chaos.
As the plot unfolds, Denton becomes entangled in a deep and ancient conspiracy, encountering fictional recreations of organizations such as Majestic 12, the Illuminati, and the Hong Kong Triads throughout his journey.
It also has a slight RPG element to it in which uses a skill point system.
You know I'm not really into RPG's , but this is one game that I thoroughly enjoy.

I've heard good things about Deus Ex, but I've never played them before.
Does anyone know if it's a continuing story line?
The story of the part 2 takes place 20 years after the events of the original. And yes the story lines are connected somewhat, though you're controlling a totally different person in the sequel.

My understanding is that it's a prequel to the first game, so chronologically this title would come first.
Should be a good thing, since there seems to be a lot of people unfamiliar with the franchise. Shame, too, since the first game is brilliant and the second game, while not as amazing, is still great.

hopefully it will be a rich and deep experience, unlike invisible war, i enjoyed it, but it should've just stayed on pc. it was dumbed down to the max for the xbox with the interface and everything.
I loved the first one and it's a definite classic and one of the best RPGs ever. The second one, not so much but still fun in it's own way. Part three will be another PC pickup for me. I'd like to see the console version sell well, but I just don't see it happening seeing as how most console owners have never heard of the series before. The PS2 version of the original didn't sell well at all if I recall. Which I can understand since it had to be cut and have more loading screens added to make up for the PS2's memory limitations.
That it did, but I still enjoyed the PS2 version of the original, and found it to be a great game – I'd deffo pick up a Deus Ex on PS3. Fingers crossed!

developers are killing it, because they are to fu**ing lazy to create the game for PC with PC hardware in mind.

Or it could be the majority of people not being able to afford appropriate hardware for every game coming out, or the rampant piracy of pc games.

of course its the developers fault.
they gimp the game, implement ridiculous DRM measures ala assassins creed 2.
and dont give me that piracy BS because the 360, wii, DS,ps1,ps2 and PSP had just as much of it, if not more.
but it did not stop developers from releasing games on those platforms did it?
there being tight a$$e$ trying to save money, because it would be more expensive to create the game for PC than make the necessary changes to get it working on consoles.
but the fact of the matter is publishers are rolling in money with their million dollar paychecks so i dont think a extra mill or so on developing a games going to send them broke.
as for the hardware argument that is ridiculous!
my crappy asus laptop which cost me 1200 bucks when i bought it over 2 years ago can still play any game i throw at it on high settings.
hell the 4 year old pentium 4 i got in the garage still plays most games.
fact of the matter is spend 300 bucks now on a decent cpu and gpu and you wont need to spend any cash for a good 4 or so years.
50 bucks says you will be shelling out that much if not more in just repairing or buying a new console.
ps3s, 360s, wiis, psps, dont last 4 years.
pcs do.
It's all because a controller fits just a lot better in my hands when gaming, than a mouse and a keyboard, can't help it.

they just want to feed the masses with mediocre games with the same engines, EA prime are a example they buy up all the little independent companies and kill any sort of creativity!

Could somebody throw a brief description of these games up on this thread for those of us who are clueless. I read above that there is a series of rpg's called Deus Ex. However other than that I guess I'm ignorant, cause I've never heard of them.
I do however love a good rpg, so please fill me in, oh wise holders of knowledge of this series.

I have mixed feelings on a third instalment, looks like a wait and see.
I was thinking of buying it for the PS2. I guess it's like a shooter / action adventure game, but you have a lot of dialog trees where you can choose to take one course of action or another, thereby changing how the story plays out.
I'd be interested in it on the PS3. Wouldn't be a "must buy", but I'd probably pick it up sooner or later.
I've never played the original but have played IW on the Xbox and thought it was a pretty decent game. Wouldn't mind seeing it come to the consoles.
I forgot to mention a few important things about the Dues Ex series….
The DE series has the same interactive game flavor that make's "Heavy Rain" taste so good. D.E. will also branch off by you choosing from multiple game-play decisions.
Plus, there's also multiple endings, which are all based on those very decisions you've made.
And all this was done in 2002, at least 3 years before Heavy Rain's developer, Quanticdream, even brought out their other interactive masterpiece, Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy, back in 2005.
BTW, has anyone's ever played the game "Project:Snowblind" (on PS2/original Xbox)?
Well, if you have, that one is actually the REAL DE-#3, or the REAL 2nd sequel to the Deus Ex series, right after the 1st sequel on xbox, called Dues Ex:Invisible Wars. It was to be multi-player, and was originally to be called "Dues Ex: Clan Wars".
Here's some back-story info first, to help lead up to why the new name change for the original DE-3.
The 1st "DE: The Conspiracy" was critically acclaimed & received tons of awards, including 40 "Best Of" & GOTY awards.
The 2nd one "DE: Invisible War", for the xbox didn't garner near the acclaim that the 1st one got(although the Official Xbox Magizine gave it 9.1)
OK now, the reason they changed the the 2nd sequel's name to "Project Snowblind" was that since the 1st sequel on the xbox garnered less than expected commercial success then the 1st game one did, they decided to set the game up in it's own universe, hence, it became known as:"Project Snowblind".
But Nevertheless, it still remains as a spiritual sequel to the Deus Ex series, and also retains many visible and conceptual links to its other original game brothers.
FYI, here's some interesting Wikipedia tidbits about the 1st one, Deus Ex: The Conspiracy
DE: The Conspiracy received 40 GOTY's or "Best in it's class" awards, from magazines & websites, including British Academy of Film and Television Arts, IGN, GameSpy, PC Gamer, Computer Gaming World, among others.
Deus Ex:TC was also awarded "Excellence in Game Design" and "Game Innovation Spotlight" at the 2000 Game Developers Choice Awards and also won in the "Computer Innovation" and "Computer Action/Adventure" categories at the Interactive Achievement Awards.
