The day has finally come for PlayStation 3 owners; the day when they can lay their hands on Quantic Dream's "interactive drama" and take the memorable storytelling ride.
Today, SCEA has announced that Heavy Rain has released in North America. Created by the team responsible for the likes of Indigo Prophecy , players take control of four major characters and follow a branching plot to discover the Origami Killer. "How far will you go to save someone you love?" It's the underlying theme of the game and one that is both extremely effective and poignant; this immensely atmospheric and gripping psychological thriller features excellent music and voice acting, mind-blowing visuals, beautiful artistry, and an emotional roller-coaster you won't soon forget. So many decisions, and so many possibilities… Said SCEA Vice President of Product Marketing, Scott A. Steinberg:
"Tapping into the power and technology of PS3, Quantic Dream has pushed gaming boundaries to the limits, placing emotion at the forefront of the Heavy Rain experience. This dark and mysterious story delivers a setting and mood that truly attests to the true film noir feel of the game. We're eager for fans to enter this world and experience their own unique story, one that can only be had on PS3."
As you step into the shoes of Ethan Mars (architect and father), Scott Shelby (private detective), Madison Paige (journalist) and Norman Jayden (FBI profiler), you will continue to dictate how the story unfolds. Ethan Mars' son has been kidnapped by the Origami Killer and it's up to these four individuals to find and save that boy…or, if things go wrong, it simply won't happen. David Cage spent over a year creating the 2,000 page script of dialogue and worked with a cast of over 70 actors to bring his vision to life. The press release says Heavy Rain is "possible only through the power of the PS3 system," and a team of 220 had to work for over 170 days simply to provide the game with the requisite motion capture. It's a gargantuan effort and as you've already seen in our review, it's one that paid off.
We're hoping the game gets some advertising; there will be a TV ad in Europe, at the very least, and you can view it over at the European PlayStation Blog . But also bear in mind that now that the game is on store shelves, the Internet could be loaded with spoilers. So just be cautious about the Heavy Rain news and reviews you read; we won't spoil anything at PSXE, that's for sure.

This looks and played so awesome. I can't wait to play this one
Has anyone been able to get the DLC for Heavy Rain. I got my code and it keeps telling me that the code is invalid. I was getting upset and then I remembered an article Ben wrote a little while back that said the DLC wouldn't be available until early March. Is that correct Ben?
It is, you have to wait until then to use your code.
Thanks 'World'…. I knew I wasn't going crazy, well, not anymore than I already am.
Well, off to play some more Heavy Rain!!!!
got mine.
i think it was the sound track that was delayed, not the prequel DLC.
I'm playing the hell outta this game!!! This is like nothing I've ever played!!! $64 well spent!!!
Just got the Collector's Edition! a $104AUS spent verry well! I must say i cant wait to play it….
Just got home and my copy from Amazon was here waiting. Just got finished making my Origami and just realized I didn't get my promo code for the DLC! I just sent Amazon a email about it, anyone else here who pre-ordered from Amazon get theirs?

I called gamestop to see if they had any codes left for those who didnt preorder (me), and the guy told me they didnt even have enough to fulfill all preorders.
Wonder why sony is going so strict on DLC codes?
I made my bird. That's a good way to kill time during the install phase. Played for a couple hours. My girl had to leave for school and she made me promise for her to get home until i play it again. She's loving the story.
ha! I did the same thing, that origami is a great way to get through the install
Heavy Rain is one of the most innovative and interesting "games" out there. The story telling, the action, the drama, the graphics, everything that is the core of this game will have you hooked from beginning to end. You will not want to put the controller down for even a second! Bravo to Quantic Dream's team and SCEE for taking the risk involved in promoting and making such an excellent "interactive drama".
Due to a sudden lack of bucks today, I couldn't even go sniff around for a copy.
But at least I got to enjoy all the posts of those who have started the game, and are heralding it.
BTW, It's been pouring-down rain here all day, and is supposed to keep raining for the next 2 days too.
Soooooo, I figured "what the heck", since I can't play the game, I'll just go out & hunt for the Origami killer myself.
But the FBI keeps crimping my style cause every time I call them to borrow their forensic glove & glasses, they keep frigging hanging up on me. WTF is with that anyway?
Oh well…..Seems that for the next three days, I'm just destined to stay put here at home and make little origami "Hello Kitty's". *sigh*

LOL, I had a great image of you wondering around looking for a fictional character and scaring the hell out of people.
Heavy Rain never came today…I called Amazon and was given a $20 credit to my account (perk of being a Prime member) and was told it should be arriving tomorrow.
I'm devastated…
No wonder it wasn't showing up on your Trophy list.
The game is amazing. That's a pretty sweet apology from amazon.
@LV,
LOL to me "wondering" around!
Sorry to hear no tons of wet stuff for you today…….
but cheer up, here's a "Hello Kitty"!

I had a similar situation with Uncharted 2 and Amazon
Atleast, you got a $20 credit. Nice.
I signed up for the Prime trial and got day one delivery. Just played about 5 hrs straight. Awesome is the only thing I cam say, still no word on my DLC code 🙁
:'( ive still got to wait a day.
just a question is it actually possible to finish the game with all 4 characters alive?
thats what ill be aiming for, but well if i actually get there is another story.
ive seen quite a few videos of QTEs so fast i think theres no way im going to be able to do that.
In answer to the question…er…yes and no. Depends on what four characters you're talking about.
lol the 4 characters you play as.
@whiskeytango74 I received mine but I also was the first customer that preordered it but if you see on the website it states that if you preorder it, you are guarenteed a copy of the DLC if they didn't get enough then email sony or gamestop head office cause I bet they did get enough but the employees probably gave them away to non preorder customers or themselves which I see and have heard gamestop does alot, apparently employees come first.
I just canceled my GOW III preorder cause they informed me I was to far on the list to get the free stuff that the regualar comes with but they said I'm guarentteed the collectors ? so I preordered at futureshop cause they give you a 10 dollar off of the game plus the free stuff it comes with if you preorder. Fine with me on that.
I've got my copy but the wife is wanting a quiet night in with dinner, and talking about the kids, work and holidays etc, and all that normal stuff that women want…
Aarghh, don't you realise what day it is woman?
I was hoping for a jeez darling, I'm tired tonight, I'll just head off to bed early. Don't stay up too late with that stupid game thingy now…
I'll be through in 20 minutes darling…
As if!!!
