Ben-DutkaDarksiders couldn't survive the rating system of the United Arab Emirates, and neither can Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain .
As reported by Kotaku , Sony has confirmed that the PS3's newest exclusive has been banned in the United Arab Emirates, obviously due to the adult content included in the game. Sony provided Kotaku with the following statement that sheds some light on the situation:
"The UAE's National Media Council (NMC) has banned Heavy Rain on PlayStation 3. Heavy Rain has an 18+ PEGI rating and has been conceived from the earliest stages as a genuinely adult experience. This means that it deals with strong content including blood and nudity, but treats this content in a mature and sensitive manner. The game is not intentionally controversial or sensationalist, and all the themes and content are consistent with what consumers would expect to see in a mainstream Hollywood thriller."
They say what Quantic Dream's David Cage has said in the past, that there is no gratuitous, pointless content in Heavy Rain ; it's all part of the storyline and most all the nudity can only be seen via player choice. However, if you happen to live in the region in question, these bans don't appear to be strictly enforced in the UAE, so you just might have to search around a bit for a copy of Heavy Rain . For our part, we're still waiting to see if there's any backlash here in the US due to the potentially offensive content but we're hoping the naysayers have grown up a bit 'round these parts.

i'm actually considering to trade tekken 6 (the story is just getting pointless for me) and lego star wars to get that 40 dollars off for final fantasy XIII or god of war III. too bad i missed out on preordering the ultimate edition 🙁
