For about the past month and a half, we've been hearing whispers and various rumors that Killzone 3 might actually release towards the end of this year.
This continues as yet another source – citing other sources "close to Sony" – says the hotly anticipated FPS will release around Christmas time and furthermore, it will support both new technologies for the PlayStation 3: 3D and motion sensing with the new "Arc" controller. Either that, or it will simply support the inherent motion sensing already in the Dual Shock 3 controller; it depends on the accuracy of the translation. We're not entirely sure why we'd be interested in motion sensing controls for something like Killzone 3 , but the idea of such an intense experience in 3D…that's just plain insane . Play.tm says they asked SCEE about all of this and "have yet to receive a reply," which is hardly surprising. We're willing to bet we can predict the exact wording of that reply, if it comes at all: "we do not comment on rumor and speculation." We seriously doubt Sony is willing to talk about anything Killzone 3 -related at this point.
No, they've got other PlayStation 3 exclusives to focus on over the course of the next few weeks. But wouldn't it be nice to have both Gran Turismo 5 and Killzone 3 for 2010 holiday season? If that happens, you can bet the PS3 will once again dominate the November/December months.
oh great more day one buys for my duct tape wallet to deal with. Not to mention all the time required to fulfill the potential of these 3XA titles. It's not easy being a broke, 100% completion slut.
Let's not forget Insomniac's annual PS3 game this year, probably Resistance 3, and the rumored Infamous 2 and Twisted Metal as well.
Sony could have a very good holiday season for PS3 exclusives, better than last year, when you add those games to GT5.
On the new Twisted Metal game, I read articles about Jaffe getting heckled at the AIAS awards when he was on stage. The heckler kept asking about a new Twisted Metal game, and here was Jaffe's response:
9:51] A heavily intoxicated–and well-known–member of the audience bellows out, "TWISTED METAL!" at the top of his lungs at David Jaffe, in reference to his classic car combat game. Jaffe has been long-rumored to be working on a sequel for the PlayStation 3.
[9:52] Now it's time for the Outstanding Achievement in Game Direction trophy. A montage of Assassin's Creed II, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Brutal Legend, Flower, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
[9:54] "TWISTED METAL!!!!" is screamed again. Jaffe stares at the audience member and hollers back, "Soon, b****!" and mutters something about "eight or nine months." Is that an announcement?
AIAAs awards?
I loved Killzone 2, but I am not sure I am ready for sequel yet.
Killzone 2 was outstanding, so I can't wait for Killzone 3. However, I believe Resistance 3 should also be coming out at the end of this year, so they will be in competition with each other!
(that, and COD, Battlefield 3, and maybe Gears 3?)
It's the year of the 3's!
@big6
<<<<It's the year of the 3's!>>>>
Yup, as in PS3 3-peating too, just as the PS1 & Ps2 have done.
The PS3 is surly starting to pick up steam…… WOOO,WOOOooo!
i can't imagine Killzone 3 this year… how many years did they take on K2?
Think of it this way. KZ2 took so long because they had to develop an engine for it. That engine is done, and its one of the best around.
KZ3 should not take long to complete now that the engine is already in place!
Come out of hiding, you ISA scum
Imagine using the motion controller to knife someone's throat, having their blood splatter in your face in 3D…
Keep pluckin' that turkey
I'm curious why more people aren't psyched about the 3D aspect of this news.
One of the most important elements of a good game is immersion and when implemented effectively I think 3D brings a whole new level of immersion to any audio-visual experience.
Avatar is the highest grossing film of all time (before adjusting for inflation)and its not because of the brilliant and original plot;)
So get excited for 3D dammit! Its gonna be awesome for gaming.
Just one of the reasons that I am not that bothered of the 3D at this stage is because it will straight away half's the games frame rate.
I'd like to believe that i haven't been let down by any sony tech this far so i'm gonna believe that the motion controlling on kz3 would be far better than anything we've experienced with the kiddy console wii.
Come on duck hunt ruled, surely sony can pull off motion kz3.
