We assumed the game would launch alongside the movie, but we all know what happens when you make assumptions…
Eh, we could've done it, anyway. Today, according to 1Up , Ubisoft has confirmed that Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands will release on May 18, one week before the blockbuster film, "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time," hits theaters. We've known for a while that Ubisoft would try to place the new game sequel as closely as possible to the movie, so May 18 hardly comes as a surprise. And although the promising action flick starring Jake Gyllenhaal could be cool, we're far more excited for The Forgotten Sands , a sequel to last generation's first PoP adventure, The Sands of Time . So, yeah, we've got the movie based on the first game coming out a week after the sequel to that first game comes to us in interactive form…understand now? The Forgotten Sands loses the cel-shaded look of the previous series installment and shifts back to fighting multiple foes at once, but we still get a partner. It isn't Elika, but Razia, who should be of great help in battle. For our part, there are few games that rank higher on the priority list in 2010.
If you haven't yet played Prince of Persia , which released back in 2008, we strongly recommend it. It's well worth your time and would be good preparation for the next title.

Totally. Though, I'm slightly disappointed, as i really enjoyed this gen's POP (and the prologue), and was hoping for a continuation of the story. And even though it was only cell-shaded, I thought the art-style and gameplay was refreshing and mesmerizing.
agreed.
I loved the humor in it too.
i hope they don't rush the game…
Really enjoyed the last instalment. I need to replay as it robbed me of some trophies though 🙁
The last POP was decent, but it wasn't without its problems. One of which was Nolan North voicing the Prince. I enjoy North's work as much as the next Uncharted fan, but the Prince just sounded annoying and unlikable in that game.
OR the ending. I spend hours fixing the world only to SPOILER Fing CITY!$!@$@%@#%@#
Revert it back to the beginning of the game, what the hell!
Is it gonna have the same graphics as the last one?
Ubisoft is starting to worry me. All this talk about releasing their series every 12 to 18 months, is making me question the potential loss of quality from them. Splinter Cell has more in common with the Bourne movies then stealth games now and Assassins creed 2 removed much of the stealth that I liked about the first,in favor of more action. Not to mention the DLC packs and the third one being announced so soon. Then you have this series which seemed to be getting a fresh start but now is going to rehash last gens prince and story for a movie tie in? I don't like where this is going..

My feelings, exactly.
I^d like a devil may cry which continues from the second installment, but that ain^t happening now isit? Anywho, i don^t need Razia, i stand alone!
Same….i don't like Nero.
I haven't played the first one. Maybe I'll buy it sometime this week.
I just couldnt get into them at all. I tried and didn't like them.
Good game or not, there aren't fewer in 2010 that rank higher, there are… greater? No, more better? You get the idea…
Well if I've learned anything about PoP games, it's that they drop in price at an alarming rate. Add the fact that games released hoping to cash in on movie hype also dive in price when the movie flops, this game will be 18.96 on Amazon before summer's out.
All the best Ubi.
that was early…
I wonder if we're going to get a game that's based on a movie that's based on a game?
lol
World and I collaborated on that joke a few weeks ago. Pay up!
Don't worry Snaaaake I got it.
*hands them each a nickel*
Thanks Alienage, I copied this joke from them.
prince of persia would not be good preparation for this because 2008s PoP was a spin off completley different to what this will be like.
this will be more like the warrior within, by the looks of things which has made me really excited.
i liked the spin off PoP but no where near as much as the original.
ubisoft are my favorite publishers this gen, they keep constantly bringing out fantastic games with assassins creed, rainbow six vegas, ghost recon advanced war fighter 2 splinter cell conviction and now this.
not to mention i am alive.
im really looking forward to that its very intreging, shame its not going to be out till 2012 at the earliest!
