The ESRB is often a good source for spotting unannounced titles; after all, the publisher has to submit the game for a rating very early.
And this time, Joystiq has spotted a new ESRB rating for a PS3 version of the PC combat racing game, Death Track: Resurrection . Essentially, this was 1C's take on Twisted Metal , only instead of an action title where the cars simply try to blow each other up, you're racing with an assortment of deadly weapons. It was a sequel to Deathtrack by developer Dynamix and released way back in 1989 and I honestly don't remember if it did well on the sales charts. Most don't remember the title; let's put it that way. But as we all lie in wait for a Twisted Metal PS3 announcement (what's taking so long, anyway?), something like Resurrection could quench our thirst for vehicular combat. We have no further details about the game at the moment but perhaps Gaijin Entertainment will release the baseline info very soon. Personally, I've always liked the idea of racing with weapons; it always reminds me of Wipeout , which is also futuristic but features flying ships rather than cars. …but you still get to shoot at things while racing.
We'll let you know if Death Track: Resurrection for the PS3 receives a confirmation or announcement.
I'll definetely have to consider this. Ii might wait a few to see if Twisted Metal for the PS3 will ever be released though. Man I missed this genre.
I remember the first one. I think I still have it somewhere around here. Never played the second one. Could never find it either for that matter. I enjoyed the original at the time so I'll probably pick this one up as well.
is this going to be a full-fledged game, or a PSN game?
This might quench my thirst for combat racing, but Blur comes out soon.
That picture makes it look a lot like Full Auto. That's a bad thing.
I'm betting that's not a pic from the real game. Since they were only applying for a rating.
Yes it is a pic from the PC version.
looks like full auto to me
