MAG is one of those games that needs to grow and expand with time; the potential for this massive online shooter is through the roof.
But perhaps one of the first major fixes that comes down the pike will involve the perceived balancing issues. Many ardent players claim there are definite advantages and disadvantages to playing as one of the three Factions – Valor, Raven, or S.V.E.R. – and this makes the game a little unfair. These complaints have finally reached a pitch discernible by developer Zipper Interactive and they're currently looking into the issue. This much we know by reading comments left by Zipper Senior Community Manager for MAG , Jeremy Dunham, over at the PlayStation Blog .
"We are always working on the balancing for all three factions — this is a job that will never truly be done since there are so many contributing factors thanks to online play, new strategies, creative exploits, etc. Don’t expect us to stop looking for things to adjust for a long, long time."
Further down, Dunham says that when there's "an overwhelming perception" that balancing issues exist, the team must be "committed to looking into what the facts are to determine what needs to be adjusted." There's little doubt that Zipper Interactive is definitely keeping a close eye on their baby and as we said in the review , it'll be very interesting to see where this game stands at the end of the year. It could very well be the finest, deepest online shooter experience out there.

Agreed, I've been saved a few respawns by team mates who warned me about people camping over their bodies, or who warned me about people coming up on the flanks.

Its a funny thing happening here, I'm hearing the same story from two different factions, and I can agree, as a Raven member now and a Valor member in the beta, that SVER has a slight advantage. First thing I noticed was SVER's guns seem to be stronger than both Valor and Ravens, I confirmed that by picking up a couple of thier weapons I was dropping them alot quicker and with less bullets. But to be honest I don't mind that because I have a winning track record which means I'm beating team with better equipment, take that to the bank. Not only that but it gives me a sense of achievement when we completely run through SVERS sabotage and aquisition maps, domination not so much this where I think their layout is superior to others. But I win there to just not as often, but I do notice that when I'm with my clan we run through people with ease, all because we actually go in with plan of attack and not run around like we're playing COD so its all in the way you play and who you play with get with some team players and you'll see what I mean.
SVER's guns are slightly stronger, but they're also slightly less accurate and they have a bit more recoil, whereas Raven and Valor's guns tend to focus a bit more on accuracy and having less recoil.
When I purchase MAG Iam joining Raven. Raven looks like a deadly squad.
Can oyu make you r on clan inside the factions?
yes you can create your own clans.
Valor! Fixes!!
BTW, how many maps does M.A.G. actually have? I don't own the game.
is that not the point of having 3 factions, each to have their advantages and disadvantages?
you cant have all 3 being carbon copies otherwise it would be boring.
sounds like their complaining about water being clear to me.
though there not complaining about what they should be the hit detection LAG!
was at a friends place today and he was playing MAG, we walk through a corridor and a sniper blows his head off but he does not die for a few more seconds.
this one also happened me in the beta, a enemy is in front of him but has his back turned so raise the reticule and pop him in the head with a shorty.
so he turns around pops 2 shots into my mate than were both dead, like 5 seconds after we shot him.
honestly it feels like zipper have done nothing since the beta ended.
im glad i did not get this because well it sucks!
now i know why its been getting 7s across the board.
hey a review i actually agree with, hells finally frozen over thank you dantes inferno!
all zipper had to do is give us another SOCOM and they would of got much more commercial and fan base praise than MAG will ever give them.
Is that the only game you care about. Just because they didn't give you another socom all you can do is bi#@h about MAG. They went out and created a better game than socom ever was and you just can't stand it. Yes it has a few minor issues but they are truly far and between. I've already put in over 60hrs and only experience these issues a few times. Nothing like Socom and the crap game that was. Hit guy 10 times nothing, he hits you once, dead. So just get over it and accept the fact that socom sucks and if they're smart they will never make another one again.
And quit being such a da^n pessimist.

Im with you here Tuna. I have SOCOM and while i wouldn't say 3rd person shooters are my cup of tea, Socom was a pretty good game despite some flaws.
To slam this game(MAG) or call it inferior to SOCOM is absurd. The game runs smooth with soo much going on. hit detection is solid for the most part, only ever have very few instances that are short lived where it seems weird. That usually comes down to one individuals connection.
MAG is an awesome game, to say otherwise is mad.
you complain that "it guy 10 times nothing, he hits you once, dead."
but than thats EXACTLY! what MAG is.
sorry MAG will never be the game socom is.
theres a reason why during the beta every second sentence i heard was i wished zipper worked on socom instead of this crap.
hell if they really wanted to they could of made this the MP part of socom and than just release a SP mode.
No offense nameless one. But if you think SOCOM is better, than you have the worst taste in games and probably do lines of coke in your bathroom, as does everyone else who agrees. SOCOM is a good game…but get over it, its a weaker game and its not just due 3rd person gaming.
I guess the maps may be a bit varying in terms of layout difficult but who cares. Its a war game not eveyr base is easy to attack or defend, thats where each soldier has to go beyond his comfort zone to get it done.
Im S.V.E.R. proudly as i joined SVER because the very definition of the Faction relates to me. Our base may be harder but ultimitely any whiners on other factions need to get over it. You're lucky to have a harder task ahead of you because it challenges you more and consequentially gives you better mental experience and skill.
As for the Weapons, yes our weapons may be powerful, personally i like the SASR, but they have more recoil and a bit less accurate.
Hey animal, I know you are already in a clan and so am I, but if you want to you can send me a friend invite and we can still throw down together. The most we ever got in a squad at the same time is 7. It works but it'd be nice to have everyone on the same page. Let me know, my psn ID is the same as here.
Of course we can still throw down. We're both on the same faction, so while our clans are different, our loyalties are to the same army ;).
My ID is animal84
MAG is a good game. The reason they say that the balance issue is a matter of perception is because maybe it is? Think about it.
MAG is all about teamwork anyone that is any good at the game can tell you that. A majority of the beta testers joined sver when the game came out. And a majority of SVER has mics for now. You see more and more noobs… for lack of a better word playing in SVER suppression matches lately.
Saying the game is unbalanced because the players playing the game are on unbalanced skill levels is just ridiculous. Its like saying the game of football is unbalaced as a game when the colts play a team like the lions. I'm not a colts or lions fan just making a point based on each teams strength in recent years.
Players seaking to obtain all the trophies will switch factions once they reach level 60 and the balance will switch. New players coming in will also affect the balance. Your not dealing with small game matchmaking where a player can find himself on either side. Your taking about 64+ player match making placing you on YOUR chosen faction.
