It's about that time of year to take a look at the updated fiscal results…so how did Sega Sammy do?
Well, as GameSpot reports, the company started the fiscal year by posting a ¥10.29 billion ($115 million) loss on revenues, which was down 19% in a year-over-year comparison. But ever since that time, Sega Sammy has been playing a bit of catch-up; the first nine months of its fiscal 2010 period saw net sales of ¥285 billion ($3.19 billion), which is down only 7.7% compared to 2009. Furthermore, between April and December, Sega Sammy got themselves back into the black, posting a ¥16.9 billion ($189 million) profit. Sega attributes the turnaround to the good pachislot and pachinko business in Japan and although gaming sales remained strong in Japan, Sega did see a game software decline in the US and Europe due to "adverse market conditions." Overall, the net software sales decline was ¥83.1 billion ($930 million), but Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Witner Games was the publisher's top seller, selling 5.67 million units on the Wii and DS in the US and Europe. Furthermore, the sales of Platinum Games' well-received Bayonetta also helped: it has surpassed the 1 million mark worldwide, including both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions.
This may be enough incentive for Platinum to go for a sequel, although they did hint at the possibility of a spin-off…and nobody seems to like that idea.
Related Game(s): Bayonetta
already?
wow that was quick.
still not worth 50 bucks though.
If it wasn't it wouldn't have gone platinum
so every game that goes plat is worth its money?
so than ODST is worth the 60 bucks?
yea, dident think so.
ODST is a $60 expansion pack from a 3rd sequel that was released in late 2007. For it to sell millions shouldn't be a shock to anyone. But Bayonetta is an original IP that still managed to sell a million within its first month. It's not common for new IPs to pull that off. …and don't use the 'sex sells' argument either, otherwise games like BMX XXX and DOAX would've sold millions too. I REALLY don't understand the anti-Bayonetta attitude from this site. The port might have been handled poorly, but it's still a good game. 😛

The install made the PS3 version WAY more playable…I would say that it was worth the $60 bucks. I'm still enjoying it and that's all that matters imo.
I hope Platinum doesn't screw us PS3 gamers all over again with Bayonetta 2.
No bun.
Seeing as I have both 360 and PS3, I got the 360 version of Bayonetta. Seemed the logical choice.
Bayonetta is a great action game too. I have deleted Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 off my games wish list because of this game. The lack of camera problems is what sets this one out from NG.
As for Sega, I hope to see them make a great return on the newly announced Sonic 4 (aka. Project Needlemouse). A 2D Sonic with 3D looks and a hell of a lotta space for expansive levels. I am so excited about this one.
edit: The fact that Sega have announced it as episodes has left me skeptical, I wouldn't want to pay 15-20 bucks per episode if they only contain a quarter of what we played in each original Sonic title from the Mega Drive (Genesis) days. But it could mean a never-ending barrage of creative 2D levels that inspire speed or exploration, along with boss battle diffuclties.
… I'm just making myself even more excited with all these ideas!!!

Well, we don't know how the episode are played out or how many there would be. Let's wait and see what happens. It might even go down a Halflife 2 route…
I borrowed the 360 version of this game from a friend. I'm on chapter 12 on hard difficulty.
Anyone notice how sega made more money off ps3 than xbox 360. Shouldn't that have made Sega Sammy force Platinum to make sure that the ps3 port of Bayonetta was at least on par with the 360 version.

Spinoff or not… I don't care, so long as it is a good game.

Freaking funny video on Bayonetta.
This has done well. Obviously there are loads of people out there who like this game.
Still not bought it myself yet, will have to wait till the price comes down. Other important stuff is coming out before this gets bought.
If the PS3 version is outselling the 360 version despite being inferior, then who knows how many PS3 owners has pass on Bayonetta for being inferior.
That and the number of players who restrict themselves to only exclusives
I know i passed.
Interesting, i wouldnt mind picking it up for about half price….we'll see…
