“No Plans” To Bring Tales Of Vesperia PS3 To North America

Role-playing fans will be disappointed but by now, they probably saw it coming.

Tales of Vesperia was originally released exclusively for the Xbox 360 way back in August of 2008. Over a year later, the PlayStation 3 version finally launched in Japan and ever since that time, American PS3 owners have been wondering when Namco Bandai would give us a shot at the solid RPG. Well, don't hold your breath. According to GamePro , the publisher has "no plans" to bring the PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia to the US. They'll be releasing an anime movie on Blu-Ray, DVD and UMD – "The First Strike" – that is based on the game, which will be available in Japan on May 28, and it might see the light of day in this country. But as for the game itself:

"As for First Strike, it is possible that an anime publisher in the US may pick up the license as there have been Tales anime releases in the US, but NBGA have no details regarding this issue at the moment."

Many assumed we'd eventually see the game here in the US because Namco Bandai gave us Eternal Sonata after originally making it available only on the Xbox 360 in 2007. The PS3 version that came later did come to North America and featured a host of extra content; Tales of Vesperia on the PS3 boasts bonus content, too, but unless you want to import it, you're gonna miss out. As for the anime movie, Namco Bandai reminds you that while the games are region-free, the movie is not; you'd need a Japanese PS3 or PSP. Bummer.
