Some of you have been wondering if the North American and European versions of Final Fantasy XIII would boast extra content due to the delay. You know, if Square-Enix has three extra months between the Japanese and US/European launches, might they toss in a few extra goodies?
Well, the thing is, three months really isn't enough time. According to a NeoGAF poster who has supposedly received the latest edition of the Dutch PlayStation Magazine, the version released in March for the US and Europe should be the same as the one released in Japan last December. Square-Enix was actually shooting for a worldwide simultaneous launch but obviously, that didn't happen, and any new content will take the form of DLC later on. However, there is some confusion in the words by Square-Enix's Yoshinori Kitase, as you can see by the comment:
"At first we had plans to release the game simultaneously worldwide, so we had the intention to deliver identical version between the regions. When we noticed that we wouldn't make it, we decided to release the game as fast as possible in the west after its release in Japan. We initially had doubts to add extra content to the western version but then it would have taken the international version more months of delay. We did prepare a DLC but it will arrive a little later in the west."
The translation may be a little broken because we have difficulty with that sentence- "We initially had doubts to add extra content to the western version but then it would have taken the international version more months of delay." It's the "but" that's messing us up, as you can see by reading it. But at least we know that downloadable content will be on the way, although we have no idea what form it might take. Guess we'll just have to wait.

i bet you it will be the stuff they cut out.
You dont say you cut out stuff and then 2 weeks later you announce DLC incoming;even before the game is out (Heavy Rain does not fall here because the story is complete).
This news just dropped it from a definite purchase to a probable rental.
To be honest, final fantasy isn't what it was,i think its time to move on to other IPs

Sounds to me like the story in FF13 is complete
We hear different things then
This is gonna be a Day 1 purchase for me. I hope it does well on PS3 and the xbox version doesn't. Then maybe SE will realize what a stupid mistake it was.
I know im probably going to get in trouble for this but im tired of good games being ruined in the name of dvd.
If you own or bought a 360 then may Dante drag you down to the bottom and Lucifer gnaw on your flesh for all eternity.
What games have been ruined?
look around you! seriously
I looked around, I just saw 4 white walls, a couple posters, and a tv. Can you give me a better answer please, the first one didn't work.
Yawn…moving on
Ok everyone, bend over! Square's gonna try and pound you in the wallet.
more like pound you in the @$$
They've been in my mouth since the early 90's, I haven't complained yet.
hello.
why many people here think DVD is the one that making FF XIII lost many contents?
isn't FF XIII lost contents because the game designer want it?
if the game designer want to include it. they sure can use 4 DVD9. Lost Odyssey already using 4 DVD9.
they (SQEX) must have a reason for deleting content. maybe to get the game to be released faster or something. its already in development for years, and more delay will be no good. they need to release FF XIII and get money.
I read somewhere a while back that M$ didn't like the idea of having more than 3 CDs for FF XIII.
I read somewhere that Hitler and the Easter Bunny had gay sex in the late 80s.
See how easy that is?
How do you know the xbox 360 version isn't going to have 4 dvd9's?
Gotta love all the bitching. Boohoo, FFXIII was trimmed down, boooohooo!
I'm getting it Day1 and I wouldn't be surprised if a majority of you do the same.

I think people should try and get their hands on some of the older final fantasy titles. I just got a copy of FF9 and I am loving every moment of it. It's witty, comic and the english translation is superb. The levelling system is fun and interesting, and the music will give FF8/FF7 fans a bit of a nostalgic sensation.
You make it sound like this wasn't possible till recently. I'm pretty sure a vast majority of RPG fans have played the FF series. I myself have been doing the Day1 thing since the early 90s.
^^ because we already played them?
i have played :
FF 7 and 8 on PC. a bad port…. i ended buying the game again, the ps1 version, then play it on PC using emulator.
FF 9, 10 , 12 on ps2.
FF tactics on PS1.
but have not played FF 1-6… the game too hard to find. no one selling it anymore (in my city).
You can find the roms for FF1-6 online and there are dozens of emulators that work great. I strongly suggest you do this, VI is one the greatest RPGs ever made.
This DLC will determine if and when I get the game. I want to get it but something's holding me back. I think I'm waiting for Super Final Fantasy 13 to release. Take the original game, throw all the deleted content in and whalah, SFF13. It has a nice ring to it.
maybe it will be on Final Fantasy XIII International 😀
sigh.
AGAIN!
ok thats it im not buying another asian developed game ever again!
thats fine if they want to treat me like a second classed customer than ill treat them like a second classed developer.
guess im not buying lost planet 2, FFXIII, SSFIV or dead rising 2.
which is probably not such a bad thing since the last good asian game i played was DMC3.
western developed games also got DLC after the game released right?
and no one forcing to buy the DLC 😀

yes but they did not release the freaking game 4 months earlier in JP did they?
the DLC can go jump for all i care, i never was going to buy FFXIII once i heard it going MP.
but im sick to death of having to wait months after a games released in JP.
like bayonetta or DMC4 i was steamed especially at DMC4 since it was my most anticipated title of all time.
and to add a extra kick in the nads it released in JP on my Bday.
But they release the game Months earlier in US. then EU got late release, JP also got more late release.
its the same.
but yeah, recently more and more developer able to do world wide release. Konami, Microsoft games, ubisoft, etc can do it,
