EA Keeps Tiger, Announces Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11

A little infidelity and questionable behavior isn't going to get in the way of another Tiger Woods PGA Tour installment.

EA has announced Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 , set to release on multiple consoles in June. If you need more incentive to try it, EA is offering you the chance to give it a try for free and invite others via Facebook to join the open beta. Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online "is the most accessible, authentic and feature-rich golf video game experience available through a web browser, with no game installation, no disc, and no additional peripherals required." Said executive producer Mike Taramykin:

"During beta testing we’ve already seen tremendous participation and enthusiasm from golf fans around the world for Tiger Woods PGA TOUR Online. We’re looking forward to offering all players the opportunity to preview the game for free* in the coming weeks. Also, during open beta gamers can invite others to play via Facebook and we continue to encourage the community to help to drive the game’s evolution and development."

So far, over a half million rounds of golf have been played and if you want to join in on the fun, you'll enjoy all sorts of new features: Facebook Connect, Golfer Progression (begin as a rookie and climb the professional ranks), The Cut Line (you must meet the target score), Fans, Favorites & Sponsorships (get your own fans!), Realistic Wind, and the Pro Shop. In short, one of the most popular sports simulators isn't going anywhere and in fact, it's getting better.

Side note: The Comments section will NOT erupt in a bashfest against Tiger Woods. Keep it game-related.

That would be one hot feature.

Did that side note come later?

No, it did not. I know what articles will cause this very active community to explode, if left to its own devices. 😉

Not that that's necessarily a BAD thing. I believe other sites would kill to have this level of reader participation.

Apologies then Ben, sometimes even I miss something.

And I believe other sites would kill to have our level of conversation. Clearly this isn't the best article to point out the maturity around here, BUT at least there is give and take round these parts.

Phew, I always find it hypocritical to link sportsmen or women with wholesome family role models. Why should a good athlete by forced to be a good citizen? Sports does not equal good ethics.

We should be looking for good role models within our own communities (Dads, coaches, teachers, Policeman) instead of focussing on the "celebrity".

Tiger. I'm sure if I had your money and your spare time wandering bored around hotel lobbys I would do the same. Not judging you at all. It's the people that hold you up as a role model that should look closer to home for guidence.

About the game? I'm Scottish and was born close to Carnoustie one of the best courses in the world but golf is still "a good walk wasted".

Regardless Tiger is still an amzing golfer, and probably one of the best ever! EA is smart to stick with him for the pure reason that Phil Mickelson just isn't as popular! Still a great golfer though.

What Tiger did was absolutely wrong though and I would understand and do understand all his endorsment drops. As a person he's probably just like any of us (minus the gaming ;)…) BUT, yea this big BUT, just got caught up in infedelities, which is no excuse be sure! But as a sports fan its still hard to pass judgment on his golf game, which is to say the least… Phenomenol!

I'm glad EA stuck with it, i enjoy the Tiger Woods games and 2006 for the PS2 was my favorite. Will probably play 2011 at some point also!

Ah, good ol' Tiger Woods Golf – where the Wii version gets twice as many courses as the PS3 or crapbox version, but EA is nice enough to let us buy all those missing courses via DLC for a mere $10 each. No thanks, I'm not really into bending over and saying "Thank you sir, may I have another?"

It's doubly sickening because the guy who's picture is on the cover is a freakin' zillionairre to start with.

Why should we care about the life of Tiger? Specially in this country, people like gossip too much. I really dont care why he does. I just like to see him playing golf. Americans like to impose their moral in others. If he wanna has 10 women, that is his problem, not yours.

This crap happens when you have a lot of people watching tv and all they do is care about celebrities instead of getting a job. I hate when Americans want to act as real Christians, while at the same time supporting the war in Iraq that has killed thousands of civilians, women and kids.

Stop the hypocrisy. Please

Oh I see so the only way to have morals is to be a Christian?

The only reason I ever knew who Tiger Woods was in the first place is because he's one of the best damn golfers the world has ever seen, EVER! Possibly THE best. As far as I'm concerned that hasn't changed.

I'm not justifying what he did, I am a family man and that's just not right, but I couldn't give two sh*t's about his personal life, don't care. I don't care about any celebrity's personal life. The Tiger Woods golf games are, for the most part, good solid games, and THAT's what this industry is about right? Good decision by EA.

And drop the Tiger hate. Has his actions had a direct impact on your life? Seriously, If you're so consumed and dependent on celebrity gossip that your life has been negatively affected by Tiger Woods… I feel sorry for you.

The situation over in Haiti hasn't negatively impacted my life. Am I consumed and dependent on it simply because I talk about it and form my own opinion? I think you're confusing "interested" and "appalled" with "consumed" and "dependent".

What have I written within this article that's off topic. Please explain, or are you just going to accuse blindly as you've already shown?

limited, yikes dude. what does this have to do with Haiti? That's World News man, celebrity philandering is hardly news, it's gossip. A natural disaster that claims countless lives is a tragedy and I'm a tad offended you'd think I could even put it on the same scale. I think you totally missed my point man.

LimitedVertigo

No I got your point and I chose a very extreme example in hopes you would get my point. You're way off base if you think simple conversation regarding an athlete amongst others online is wrong.

Discussing matters that may not effect someone personally is normal and we do it everyday; whether it's Tiger banging a dozen cocktail waitresses or an earthquake across the globe.

Nah, I get what you're saying limited. And there's nothing wrong with simple conversation. Everyone has an opinion, and they're entitled to it. Mine: It's just not worth getting this worked up over some athletes indiscretions. I cringe every time I see/hear celebrity 'news'.

I won't defend Tiger, no way, but I won't condemn him either. I gots better things to worry about… like killing Robert de Sable so I can finally meet Ezio.

But… I like golfing games… they're a great excuse to get friends together for drinks and good times. And there's no risk of crashing your golf cart into a ditch cuz you started your game at the 19th hole.

Agreed. I am all for "reasons" to get to get together..

But, I am going to quote song that I grew up on.

"Dirty little secrets, dirty little lies
We got our dirty little fingers in everybody's pie
Love to cut you down to size, we love dirty laundry"

What's the difference between a Cadillac Escalade and a golf ball?

Tiger Woods can drive a golf ball more than 200 yards. 😉

This whole scandal hasnt changed my opinion about TW one bit. Ive always looked up to and admired Tiger the golfer. I couldnt care less about Tiger the family life.

They are going to have to cut some of the announcer comments though. Such as "Oh and Tiger nearly misses the hole." and "That shot landed in rough." and "He's gonna have a hard times getting out of that one." and "That ball is on the beach"
