But instead of the three-horse race we predicted – God of War III , Gran Turismo 5 , and Final Fantasy XIII – one title managed to leave all competitors in the dust, and it was SCEA's mammoth action title scheduled to launch this March. FFXIII didn't even manage half the votes of GoWIII and amazingly enough, GT5 actually ended up way behind, even behind the option for "some other title." …really?! "Some other title" besides the ones we listed has a better shot at Game of the Year 2010 than freakin' Gran Turismo 5 ?! Well, I guess we'll just have to let that travesty of a result slide and focus on the winner, God of War III . There's no doubt it'll be amazing and it was probably the right choice; after all, the first two titles remain two of the highest rated games in history. Plus, we just named the original God of War as one of the Top 10 PlayStation Games Of The Decade . So yeah, it certainly makes sense, especially 'cuz Kratos is such a bad-ass . And that matters.
This week's poll involves the advent of 3D gaming, which is apparently a lot closer than we all think. 3D-enabled TVs already exist and a lot more will be coming courtesy of Sony this summer, and you can expect an influx of new 3D game software, too. So the question is, will you be an early adopter of this new form of technology? Do you plan to wait and see what it's like? Or do you just despise the idea entirely? Let us know.

Gran Turismo 5 is by far MY most anticipated game of the year, but I didn't vote for it as a GOTY contender because I figured GOW III would have a wider appeal.
As far as 3-D TV, Ha! I thought I was making a pretty large investment when I paid $500 for my 32" 720p TV. Thousands for a 3-D TV? Might as well ask me if I plan on buying a Lamborghini anytime soon.
I feel like it comes out too early in the year to be a sure thing… (although it should be worthy) Unless nothing noteworthy comes out by years end, which we know isn't going to happen.
I'd be concerned about a blockbuster releasing in October or November stealing all the attention from a game everyone beat by the Summer. I'm sure there will be a game announced that has already been worked on and kept secret to give it a run. Besides, until I play Last Guardian, no matter how much I love GoW… I can't give a vote.
I picked some other title partly because of trying to be an optimist and partly because I remember Bioshock winning it before. That game came out of nowhere for me. I had never heard of it until about a month before it came out. I think everyone knows what to expect from GoW and it sounds like FFXIII is disappointing people whose expectations are too high. As for GT5, I have a car and don't really need a driving sim to teach me how to drive….as pretty as the graphics may be.
Waiting to see the prices of the 3DTVs. I plan on buying a new HDTV this year, but I won't bother with 3D unless it doesn't cost me too much more, which I don't see happening.

I think GT5 should have gotten more props.
I'd like to see Heavy Rain or GOW make it to the end of the year, but I think GT5 is just going to trump it.
They actually tweaked that game to run in 2160P. crazy.
Based on how few games are actually in 1080p, I'm expecting even less in 3d. Sony's just trying to keep a head of the pack.
Could it be that people are being spiteful towards GT5 due to prolonged wait and multiple speculated launch dates?
Not surprised. The E3 demo was mind blowing. I never expected it to be that good. It was fun, exciting, and the graphics were brutally awesome. This deffinanlty has a shot at GOTY. that said, I'll still be buying it after Final Fantasy XIII.
Must play Final Fantasy.
I voted for GoW III also. The first 2 games were perfect IMO. And if the demo for 3 is any indication, 3 will keep up the series high standards.
I'm a huge FF fan and I'm really looking forward to 13, but given Square's recent track record, I'm taking a wait and see approach.
GT5 is huge, but the reality is that racing games always have the slimmest chance of winning GOTY. But, if and when a racing game should take that title, it will be none other than Gran Turismo, of course.
People say U2 created a new standard in graphics, but in my eyes, it was always GT who did that first. U2 runs at 720p @ 30fps with character models at about 80k polygons I think. GT5 on the other hand, runs at 1080p @ 60fps with approximately 400k polygons models of cars running around the track simultaneously. It's things like this people overlook in racing games (GT specifically actually), and also like with how many over-look Killzone 2 and it's graphical achievements in a fps game.
Popularity is a bigger factor than quality in a lot of cases with these awards.

But forme i would rather be on the heels of discovering the city made of gold than go around a track in a new car. IMO
I see God Of War as a big contender, but has everybody forgotten Starcraft II??? i can see Starcraft II competing against God Of War III

Well the first one won Game of the Year so part 2 can definitely do it as well. I never really liked Starcraft that much as I always prefered the fantasy setting of Warcraft. But I think that poll was primarily a PS3 poll, so it's more likely GoW will take the Game of the Year title for that system before Starcraft will 🙂
Even though it doesn't have a release date I voted The Last Guardian.
I wanted all the games from the choices to be goty winners (except for one or two)but I went with "some other title" hoping it will be Jaffe's new game.

According to google, Halo Reach is this years biggest game. But GOW3 will destroy all.
I think we all know that Wii music 2 is gonna win game of the year. They added the ability to play the dijaridoo.

I dunno why i amnt hyped at all for GT5, havnt played GT much since GT3 A-spec. I think its a love hate thing…
They are so fun yet so hard sometimes and rediculously time consuming! And this one promises to be so different! Yet the same…
