Ben-DutkaGamers always get on journalists for posting rumored release dates but it appears the rumors can finally be put to rest.
The word "official" can be attached to this report, as it has become abundantly clear that Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain will launch in the US on February 23, a date we've heard for quite some time but hasn't been written in stone. Even when we learned we wouldn't receive the Collector's Edition, SCEA wouldn't provide us with a nailed-down launch date, although most all retailers already showed a mid-February release. This is the game that many PlayStation 3 owners believe will help define 2010 and that's simply due to this adventure's singular style: the focus will be on the ever-branching storyline as you work through the mystery of the Origami Killer, and there will be no such things as "Game Overs." Whether you win or lose, regardless of whether a character lives or dies, the plot soldiers forth. Therefore, this may be the very first game in existence where we can honestly say that no two play-throughs will be the same. The only way you could possibly manage that is if you succeeded and failed in all the exact same places when prompted by QTEs. But the bottom line is that it's a hotly anticipated exclusive and it's a little over a month away.
Not that this helps your wallet for February. Bioshock 2 , White Knight Chronicles and Dante's Inferno are all scheduled to arrive in February, too. Hope you've got some gift card money left.

I'm still going to wait for some reviews from North America. I don't trust that our version won't be edited. Either way, doesn't look like it's going to be very long before we have some reviews and player impressions.

Damn, I'm gonna be spending a lot of money this year. Maybe the kids can just go to a community college! (Just kidding) but, I will be putting a big dent in my wallet this spring.
I voted this game as 2010 GOTY, hope it doesn't fail but I wont be picking it up on launch, I'll wait and get it together with FFXIII after March 9.

I can't seem to "get it up" for this one. Even if it gets great reviews, it just doesn't look like the kind of thing I'd be interested in. It kinda looks like "The Sims" with a bit of a storyline.

I have doubts myself. I hope this wont be just QTE interactive movie where you do nothing but pushing buttons. But still hoping for the best!
I have been paying attention.
What little game play is apparent, seems tedious. And what I've seen from video clips, is stiff mo-cap and robotic voice acting. Not exactly 2 things you want to skimp on in this kind of "game". Maybe its been improved upon for the final release.
I'm not going to pay overly attention to Quantic Dream's chest-beating pep talks for their own game. I'm just not willing to drink the Kool-Aid for this one.
But I like all kinds of games, so hopefully they'll prove me wrong and we can all have a good laugh at my expense.
I kind of agree. To me this looks too much of the old "interactive movies" back in the 90s on the PC. Anyone remember those "scary" games (can't remember any titles right now) that had scanned real video in it? However, if done well, this might be a fun adventure after all. But so far I've not seen anything genuinely *new* with this game.
I don't think it will be anything like those old PC games, and calling the The Sims is just inaccurate.
My friend is buying this. I'm freaked about Bioshock 2 which is comming earlier (yes!). Then we will switch 😀 Hope for the best games this year for ps3!!
this is the only game i'm interested in for february… don't care to play white knight chronicles, bioshock 2, or dante's inferno…
it's a bold and ambitious game that seems nothing like any other current game on the market… i like things that are different…
I want all the 3 you just mentioned, but i certainly cant afford them all at once, Heavy Rain is the obvious choice for me. I'm more amped for it than FFXIII, and i thought a game would never be more than an FF title.
Yes… I have prepared for the worst since last year. I knew all these awesome games would be crowded this quarter. I saved up all the giftcards in those piggy banks. I am ready for the worst!

Grr… so torn on whether to buy this day one here (Canada) or import that kick-ass Collector's Edition from the UK. Can anyone tell me if DLC is region free, as well? For example, if I buy the game from the UK, can I buy DLC from my Canadian store for it?
No. DLC only works with a disc from the same region.
If you can get British PSN cards (or some substitute), you could buy the DLC from the UK store.

what a wacky industry. christmas was weak this year, now february and march are loaded…whats next? more than one major game release in the summer?

I'll wait for reviews before i will buy this game, has a great potential to impress but I need to be sure if it lives up to it. The next month after it will be crazy with FFIII, GOW3 and GT5 if it will not be delayed.

sweet, my most anticipated title for this year.
though im starting to get worried about the rest of the year, i mean feb, march and april are so full of games is there enough to fill the other 8 months?
i hope we dont go into the usual trend of may- mid september being a complete drought than the end of the year is a mad rush.
i will never understand the logic of game releases.
instead of releasing 30+ games in the space of 3 months would it not make more seance to release those 30 games across the year to prevent the "winter drought."
just gets annoying when your rushing through a game trying to finish it as quickly as possible so you can get onto the next one, than winter comes along and your bored stiff because theres nothing to play.
sure you could go back and play games you already finished, but for some reason i always hate doing that because i get bored.
thats why i trade almost all my games in, once im done with them back to the store they go.
Oh this is defently for my collection, can't wait for it to come out thank goodness I got gift cards this christmas.. WOW bioshock 2 heavy rain WKC and GOW III man this is heavy on my pocket LOL OH well. Stilll have my bithday in February 🙂
Sadly WKC is going to have to take precedence, but I will get around to this title.
