Just after Christmas, we learned of Square-Enix's supposed secret game announcement, and the reason it gained such immense attention is because it was supposed to be something "everyone had requested." Unfortunately, this was due to a poor insider tip given to RPG Land , who now apologizes by saying their typically reliable inside source must've failed to actually read the interview in question. The Gamega interview with Square-Enix executive Tetsuya Nomura does include the fact that a secret game – set to be announced this year – is indeed in the works, but as for "journalists and gamers" always requesting it…um, that's not in there. Well, at least they're owning up to the oversight and besides, we still have this "secret title." Sadly, it now seems less likely to be Kingdom Hearts 3 or the oft-rumored Final Fantasy VII remake but we won't give up hope just yet. So long as we know nothing about this project, that hope still hangs on by a thread… Just don't let it be some terrible spin-off, please.
I know you're disappointed but it seems more and more like the FFVII remake is like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. We're gonna have to catch a leprechaun if we ever want to nab it.

I'm still waiting on an Alien Blu-Ray. The 30th anniversary came and went without a release. I don't think anniversary play a big part when it comes to remakes. Timing just has to be right. I think SE has too much going on right now to take on such a huge undertaking.

I believe you're right. What would a FF VII remake entail? I don't think fans or SE would be satisfied with a "God Of War 1&2 Collection"-type remake, where they just upgrade the resolution of the original game. So it would probably have to be completely redone from scratch to look like FF XIII.
If that much effort has to be put into it, SE is probably more interested in working on FF15 and 16 instead.

Well to be fair several members from the FFVII team have hinted at something special happening in the near future for the past several years.

Actually I recall that article and nothing was blown out of proportion at all, it was very level headed and indeed guarded about the possibilities.

i remember when IGN was doing previews of killzone 2 they were frothing out the mouth, even in the videos.

Ever thought for a second that hype is in the eyes of the beholder? If YOU want to give in to the editorialized actions (that's opinion injected into news) of sites like IGN when they do things like that, that's your business.
You can't pass the buck entirely on this. A consumer has free will. If you know it's nothing but hype and remain objective about it, how can a website or any article make you dream impossible dreams?
Absolutely true Ben. Which is why polls about "overrated games" is just a silly good time. Unfortunately many fall for it and start to believe that journalists have done them wrong somehow in not telling them how they're going to personally feel about a game. When the two don't jive, journalists are blamed for hype.
As far as I can tell, we're ALWAYS blamed for SOMETHING. 😉

Well lets forget about this, lets go tell Rockstar we want a polished up blu-ray release of GTAIII, Vice City & San Andreas, am sure they'll listen, these JP devs have a hard time listening, its 2010 still no trophies for MGS4, that tells you enough about them.
Seriously I miss Tommy Vercetti, Lance Vance Dance the poor bastard, Ricardo Diaz and in SA, I miss the BS The Truth keeps talking lol. That'll be no problem for Rockstar except we haven't asked.

At this point the more I hear of it the less I care. I'll be satisfied with my original VII, CC, Advent Children, and Dirge. It is too much to ask for a remake, and there will definitely be a KH released in the future.We already have what we need and know what to expect. I won't have high hopes as it tends to lead to disappointment. All that needs be done is wait.
I still think there's a decent chance it could be KH3. It seems to me that they'd only do the FFVII remake as an "ace-in-the-hole" type thing.
Well its a damn good thing my Squaresoft heart from years ago got transformed into a better more reliable heart that only believes in White Knight Chronicles, Demon's Souls, Divinity 2, End of Eternity, and OTHER games made by people who cares about my feelings!
P.S. It's a weird world where Sega is once again making great games.

FF7 remake? Well never happen! NEVER!
Sure it would sell really well, but it isn't new, it could upset die hard fans if they change anything, and they already said they were not going to do it. Besides, there are tons of better (YES BETTER!) games out there that deserve a remake as well, which will also probably never see one.
OK been watching the CES and the only thing I can find on Square is KH birth by sleep which is for the PSP? But you never know they may turn around and announce it we can only hope and dream
It was shown behind closed doors. And only the ones with special live access could see it live on the net.
