The time has come for action fans to make a tough decision: Darksiders or Bayonetta ?
Both promising titles launch today and although Bayonetta has had the early review edge for some time, the first few scores for Darksiders have also been impressive. Furthermore, it seems to be geared more to the God of War followers while Bayonetta might satisfy those who have adored the likes of Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden in the past. One other thing Darksiders has going for it: a kick-ass soundtrack. Composed by award-winning musicians Cris Velasco ( God of War series, Clive Barker's Jericho ) and Mike Reagan ( God of War series, Conan ), this music assortment should be dark, heavy and oh-so-very-fitting. According to the press release, this soundtrack features "60 minutes of original music composed by Velasco and Reagan and was recorded with a full choir at the world renowned Skywalker Sound Studios." Vigil Games audio director Jeremy Robins added that this score "not only encompasses a character as epic as one of the four horsemen, but helped define it as an IP." It's almost impossible to overstate the need for fantastic music in games these days, especially for projects that require a heavy dose of atmospheric flavor and attitude. The soundtrack is always such a big part of the action.
So today, make your purchase decision carefully. Both games are technically classified as "action" but as you've likely already surmised, they're quite different from one another.

Er, seems a little harsh dude when you really don't even know if he's directing it at you. Besides I doubt he's getting either one.
@DIsmael85
No offense but I didn't bother to read your post before making my own. Sorry that you're entire reply is POINTLESS.
Fluffer GREAT Idea, only stipulation I have is I demand we put in the movie Over the Top starring Sylvester Stallone for pregame.
Thank you to everyone that offered an explanation to the man that attacked me, you're all too kind…mwaaaaaaa!
yeah really, if LV wanted to direct it to you, you would've already seen a comment. No need to get defensive there buddy. lol
Ok ok my bad sheesh, you peoples is crazy, I just noticed the guy went banana's on here after I posted that. Sorry LV, but I assumed, you know how the internets is.

No worries, I'm always kidding around. Don't take any of it personal. I'm always good about replying to someone's posts within their post so if you see a post from me outside of yours it's probably not directed toward your post.
I'm still up for what fluffer suggested though. Wanna do a little Over the Top glass fighting?
Haha, alright man. I'm not gonna lie, I'm not good in a glass fight.
the internet can be deceiving =o hahaha
Me neither but I love boy blood.
You just love boys. 😛
Only the ones you produce in your sexy tummy for me.
Damnit. I'm psyched for Darksiders and I want to hear this great soundtrack. ARRAWOUROWEIURFWE!
I suggest you go to your local record store and flush the toliet a couple times, it will have the same effect.
Limited, I can tell you with complete honesty that I'd think twice about buying GoWIII with the My Little Pony theme in the background.
I think you really are underestimating the importance of great music. But maybe that's because so many PC games have crap-ass soundtracks. 😉 j/k
Tee hee.
*Giggle*
Actually I would think Kratos would totally be more badass by strutting around to the My Little Pony themes. Ripping off horns and all that jazz..
Geez, carrying around this PC baggage sometimes gets heavy on this site!
IMO the genre is what determines the importance of the music. Games like RPGs or story driven games like Heavy Rain rely on the music to draw the gamer even further into the game, I get that. Games like GOW3 I really don't see the music playing a big role.
I'm all for gaming music, I own dozens of soundtracks. PC gaming soundtracks too Ben!
BTW I'm all for GOW3 with the My Little Pony theme, a boy can dream.
pfffft
who cares about music?
just turn off the speakers and get back to beheading sun gods!
Got to disagree Vertigo, the music helps get you amped during the battles. Imagine slaying hordes of a-holes with no music whatsoever. Most people don't even realize the role music plays in their favorite games because it feeds so seamlessly into the experience that they don't even know it is making it more enjoyable.
When you're rollin through town in a convertible do you wanna play Low Rider or some crap from Hannah Montana?
Party in the USA, definitley.
I'm still sticking with Bayo. Why should I (or anybody else)give two sh!ts about who's composing Darksiders.Bayonetta looks to be the better game overall.
Yeah it is pretty stylish (Y)
When you're done with its 8hrs of gameplay can I borrow it? I have a feeling I'm going to be short on coasters next weekend.
Maybe!? only if you let me borrow FFXIII so I can use it as a Frisbee.
I should be getting Darksiders in the mail today. I bought the game months ago (Play mag convinced me early on).

i will be getting darksiders its more of what I like ,that zelda feel to it.but probably gonna rent bayonetta.
i cant wait till this comes out.
1 more day, just 1 more day, O COME ON THE WAIT IS KILLING ME!!!!!!!
though i find it extremley hard to believe that bayonetta has got better reviews than this.
and thats kinda worrying, well i dont believe them but if they are true…….
i never agree with reviews, according to reviews bayonetta is a 9.5 where i would say 8 is being generous.
ill wait till ive finished darksiders, but seriously if bayonetta is better than it O BOY! am i going to be disappointed.
its going to take more than dantes inferno and GOW3 to fill that void.
Easy choice for me as I was never that much of a fan over either Devil May Cry Or the Ninja Gaiden games so looks like the Darksiders for me it is then.
May look at Bayonetta when it's down in the reduced bin further down the line, too many good games coming 2010 cant afford them all this year like I did last year.
I couldnt even finish Devil May Cry 4 ,wasnt really into it.
I work in a GAME store in UK, and yesterday I heard someone claim that Darksiders was better than GoW, because the main character had a scythe.
Really? REALLY? HAVE YOU SEEN THE BLADES OF FREAKIN' CHAOS?
haha what the hell.so that person probably thinks Dante is the best.
I have never been excited about either of these games. They just don't seem that entertaining.
Maybe someone can convince me otherwise after they've played them.
But for now I'll stick with UC2, MW2 and ACII….they all have alot of life left in them.
It'll be darksiders for me, can't stand J-pop, but only once it gets cheap.
Dragon age and killzone2 should keep me occupied for a good long while anyway.
Yeah. Music is more important in games than some people make it out to be. A game functions at its best through the collective efforts of many elements. Gameplay, controls, cut-scenes implementation, pacing, character design, dialogue/monologue, enemies with high AI, background, and of course music. A game isn't really great unless it balances out most if not all of these elements and more. Uncharted 2 did a lot more than some people may think. It might have been visually stunning but there is a lot more to that game than people may realize.
