After other legendary bands like The Beatles, Metallica, and Van Halen got their own music-based video games, we've been looking around to see who might be next on the list. It could be Def Leppard…but would a Guitar Hero or Rock Band featuring the group be considered "unusual?"
According to a recent Reuters report , the band that struck arena gold in the '80s (and who are still performing, by the way) is in the process of creating a new cartoon series with Primary Wave. The company will be responsible for promoting the series along with cell phone apps and what CEO Larry Mestel has called an "unusual video game." We have no idea what sort of game they could be talking about, but bear in mind that some seriously out-of-touch individuals might still call a video game with plastic guitars "unusual." It seems extremely unlikely, though, as the music industry is definitely in-tune ('cough') with the explosion of a certain genre within video games. Therefore, it's tough to believe we're looking at a Def Leppard-centric Guitar Hero or Rock Band . Besides, what does Primary Wave have to do with either Harmonix/MTV or Activision? Perhaps they're talking about a silly Mobile game or something and if that's the case, we apologize for getting your hopes up.
Then again, even if this game does come to the PS3 or PSP, I'm not even sure our hopes can be "up." This just doesn't sound like a good idea, no matter how you look at it. You can only do a game like Michael Jackson's Moonwalker once and get away with it.
Well I know Green Day is getting their own Rock Band installment, but I haven't heard of a Def Leppard one (though a little DLC from them would be alright IMO). I'm in agreement that it probably won't be GH or RB, and it probably will be a mobile game of some sort.
idk
The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm! The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm! The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm! The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm!
i know, and he's one hell of a drummer despite it
I guess, no one remember's that lyric.
What has 9 arms and sucks..
Def Leppard (octopus LOL?)
i don't get it.
Because you aren't thinkin' with your dipstick, Jimmy!
I do. Bloodhound Gang…
Could it be a regular action game with a band theme, like that 50 cent game? Someone could probably call it "unusual" in the sense that it's unusual to find a rock band in a game like that, and it would fit the release of a new cartoon (but is there a market for a cartoon like that???)…

Its an FPS.
Def Leppard rocks man
I hope Kotex & Anti-vision's not getting their grimy paws involved with this one.
They'd probably make this game a pride of deaf leopards in a new, but old re-hashed "Pitfall:Lost Expeditions,Part 63 jungle setting.
And….. the only way you can play the game is if you also buy 2 of their new $189.99 plastic hearing aid add-on accessories.
But I'm guessing that if you couldn't afford the whole bundle, you could always slap a couple of Tony Hawk "Ride" Skateboards against your ears with duct tape.
(Just don't stay away far from any outer windows that face the neighbor's, or there could be a few dozen men in white uniforms bearing multiple gifts of perfectly matched straight jackets for you to try on)
Activision would include a plastic arm.
"bearing multiple gifts of perfectly matched straight jackets for you to try on". Funniest thing i have heard all day!
well well well i like these games they are fun but all this that they got goin on could be dlc but why do that when you can make 60 off the game alone and almost 200 with the hole kiten cadodle lol but i know it will sell
Hey just now thought about it and I can post on my iPhone I love it I know just nice to keep in touch all the time with what's goin on with u guys
Does anyone remember the 'Journey' game that came out in the 80's. I hope they don't try to go that route.
Here is the premise:
The mates from Def Leppard have gotten kidnapped and seperated, it is your job to rescue and reunite them in time for their next concert.
I would definitely settle for some DLC for Rockband. I LOVE DEF LEPPARD
THere are all sorts of other possibilities other than Rock Band or Guitar Hero. Could be a game like that Aerosmith light gun game (Revolution X) or the Motley Crue pinball game from years back. Or it could even something along the lines of Brutal Legend, only time will tell.
Being a fan, I hope they do NOT jump on the Activision money train and further destroy the name of GH. I also hope that they don't make another incompatible RB game like the Beatles did.
DLC is the best option.
Actually, I was thinking along the same lines as Buckeyestar was about other group themed games that were done in the past, so after spenting the last hour to check into my collections, I found the same 2games that he's stated above.(BTW, damn, fine job there beating me to that post there, LOL)
But, I also found this older year 2000 game for the Dreamcast that's loosely based on the group, Kiss & Todd McFarlane's best selling comic book series too…
"Kiss Psyco Circus"
You could play as the 4 powerful Kiss Elders & explore 4 hellish realms trying to release furious damage on 23 twisted creatures with 12 unique weapons
Brutal legends 2. BAM! i doubt it but maybe something similar.
Sounds like it's going to be a game based on their cartoon series.
Geeze, hard rockers doing cartoons….What's next, Ice Cube selling out and doing kiddie movies?
Are there yet?
Yes. "Are we there yet?"
Didn't they announce this a month ago.
"the music industry is definitely in-tune ('cough')"
For goodness' sake Ben, just let your puns be subtle for once.
Dimmu Borgir would've been a better fit
Brutal Legend 2 out with Jack Black in with Def Lep. lol 🙂
o god another GH milker.
great thats all i need.
please guys, dont buy this crap.
PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
people keep buying it, its never going to end. were going to end up having more guitar hero games than FPS, TPS, racers, survival horror and action games put together!
its embarrassing, every single time i go to the shops i see someone walking out with a GH bundle, not just the game.
i feel like slapping them in the face, than marching them back to the store.
One of my favourite bands. A Def Leppard Guitar Hero game might be too much to ask for. But I can dream!
