If you ask any avid fighting fan about their favorite franchises, don't be surprised if the name "Guilty Gear" pops up. The hardcore aficionados consistently flock to this series to get their super-fast combat fix and thankfully, it seems another entry is headed to the PlayStation 3.
According to Now Gamer , series creator Daisuke Ishiwatari has revealed that developer Arc System Works are currently planning to bring a new Guilty Gear iteration to the PS3 and Xbox 360. "What we can say about Guilty Gear is that it is not dead yet," said Arc System's Tomo Ohno. Ishiwatari added, "I have the full intention to create Guilty Gear for PS3 and 360." Oddly enough, we do recall when Arc System Works lost the rights to this franchise to Sega but evidently, they've managed to come to some sort of agreement. Beyond that, we don't have much in the way of official details, although we're certain the fans will quickly chime in with suggestions. What would you like to see in the next Guilty Gear ? It's a little surprising to see such a resurgence of old-school fighting games in a generation committed to pushing the technical envelope; the likes of Street Fighter IV and BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger really impressed the hell out of critics in 2009. It only proves that classic concepts never really die.
We'll let you know when they feel like producing an announcement that will make all the fighting fans smile with anticipation. Until then, keep looking forward to Super Street Fighter IV .
Arc Systemworks seems to be pretty busy 🙂
If this is true, they are working on both the new "Update" for BB and this GG as well.
A whole bunch of 2D awesomeness.
Guilty Gear? They're gonna work on GG and BlazBlue side by side? Sweet.
BTW Ben, didn't GG already go next-gen, in a spin-off called GG Overture 2 for the 360?
That was some kind of fighting-adventure blasphemy… so no, it doesn't count.
If it does I am totally in. But I have to see the old 2D art die. I was a 2D fighter aficionado back in the day but I'm sorry to admit I can't handle it anymore, I need the graphics now because a fighter becomes boring shortly after purchase and my eyeballs gotta have something to feast on.
it's rather narrow-minded to think that 2d fighters should die because u can't handle them. if your eyeballs need to feast on graphics, looked at blazblue. it looks much better than a good number of 3d games in general
I meant for me, I gotta see it go for ME to be interested.
Now having an opinion seems to earn you thumbs down, what is this World coming to?
I had to
Definitely down for a new GG game, it's nice to see companies 'somewhat' able to transfer the 2D masterpieces with newer detail, and not completely lose what made it great in the process.
In that vein, anyone seen the clips of Fist of the North Star Mosou? If they can clean it up a bit, that's going to be slick!
Guilty Gear XXX?
Ha, naked sprites…
basically a Hentai fighter
Is ASW the only ones doing 2D fighters?
We need more 2D fighters, BlazBlue was so fun and addictive.
BlazBlue IS fun and adictive 😀
That game is so awesome that you can't stop playing it, regardless if you're good or not.
Hell, just looking at the animation and listening to the voice acting is awesome.
tekken, check.
street fighter, check.
blaze blue, check.
soul caliber, check.
now guilty gear?
now all i need is a new mortal kombat game and im set.
scary, i had a dream last night of when me and my cuz first beat the last boss shao kahn in mortal kombat shaolin monks.
both of us literally went mental, and almost got emitted to the funny farm.
maybe that was a sign?
id kill for another game like shaloin monks, finally a good fun open world fighting game WITH CO-OP!
what more could you ask for?
There was also news of Blazblue being released in Europe at the 5th of the March, I'm all ready pissed off its too late. IMO publishers need sorted I'm sick waiting!! gotta start importing
