Update: I didn't make it clear although I thought I did; this is not an official announcement and can only be considered a rumor right now.
Original Story:
PlayStation 3 owners have seriously missed out when it comes to downloadable content for Grand Theft Auto IV but it seems Rockstar is about to remedy that lacking. Better late than never, right? You know, if it's even true.
As most of you know, the likes of The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony have only been made available for the Xbox 360 while the PS3 has been left out in the cold. In the past, we had heard rumors that Rockstar intended to deliver this DLC to owners of Sony's machine; after all, we're only talking about a timed exclusivity deal with Microsoft. Well, Rockstar has supposedly announced that both aforementioned downloadable episodes will finally arrive on the PS3 in 2010. Best of all, as a sort of "thank you for waiting" prize, PS3 players will also receive an exclusive piece of DLC, although we have no details on that just yet. Rockstar boss Dan Houser revealed as much during his simple statement to the press: "We are proud to announce that both episodic experiences – and a new one – will be available for the PS3. We cannot wait for people to play it." Yeah, well, you had better hope that people are still looking for DLC nearly two years after the game released (the game launched in April 2008). Again, though, the statement from Houser and the "announcement" aren't official; we've heard nothing from any actual PR source and the site in question doesn't provide a source, either.
Perhaps there's just too much of a time gap but at the same time, maybe that's a good thing. If you haven't revisited GTAIV in a while, you might be itching to do so and this new DLC will act as the perfect excuse.

Not to mention GTAIV had real mental case online trophies.

nice avatar. it's qwarktastic! 🙂
It was either Qwark or Mr Zurkon, but Qwark won.
the original headline did not say runour in it so thats why ppl got confused

between the lines wasn't even an issue.. reading comprehension at a base level seems to have been the problem here
well to tell you the truth if people read the article they could pretty much tell it was a rumor but i did notice it was a rumor when i read the title
These episodes are going to be old in 2010 anyway so they could just leave them where they are;I want new GTA content.
FU** YOU. Ain't buying your 2 year old shit.

What have you done with WorldEndsWithMe??!! We want him back!
That's why I like you World! My sentiments exactly. Even if this rumor turns out to be true, who needs it? It's over priced, over rated and old news.
I'm with you, World. I'm not buying it if it's true.
I'm still around Jawk, I just have identity issues 🙂
I always thought the DLC was on a timed exclusive deal to Microsoft, don't think Rockstar ever said never to DLC on the PS3. It is probably just a matter of time, though it would be a nice stop gap between now and the release of Agent.
I hope it's true and rock star makes up for this cus I waited way to long and got real hurt by MS making this deal , I mean they did not hurt Sony one bit they hurt the fans.
wow there are a lot of people arguing and giving a lot of negatives.
1. i don't see this on kotaku, n4g or any other sites
2. well they just did confirmed the first epsoide of dlc would hit the pc
3. http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire here is the real rock star news letter
and the article gives it away with the third episode of dlc for ps3 exclusive, when rockstar said they are done with gta 4 and dlc.
but then Bethesda did say the dlc will never come to the ps3, a once 360 exclusive now on the ps3. so anything is possible
I'm not surprised at the reaction. I loved GTAIV as much as anyone, but I'm not interested in this DLC. I've moved on.
Especially at $15-20 each.
Yeah that's true, but don't tell me that if they released a bonus content disc with all three episodes for something like 30 bones, you wouldn't pick it up at the very least try it out…?
I loved GTA IV so much.
Level 10 in Multiplayer was an a-s-s-h-o-l-e.
I wouldn't be buying the Episodes even though it'll be awesome for me. I hope the rumours are true (the new helicopter looks like it'll add 5 hours of in depth gameplay).
Damn, GTA IV is so fun if somebody really spent the time to 'Disallow' Auto-aim, find all stunt jumps and strategies for co-op.
Moving on… >_>>>>>

I couldn't help but notice you didn't say anything about the 200 pigeons. 200 pigeons FTW baby!
Damn dude, I replaced the 200 pigeons with the Stunt jumps! I was originally going to state that.
Damn pigeons flu around Liberty City…
Even though I have yet to back to GTA4 after beating it I must say I was a bit jealous of The Ballad of Gay Tony. It was kinda funny when my few xbox friends didn't even really know what it was til I told them.
"So you skipped over Lost and the Damned too?"
"What's Lost and the Damned?"
Digital Distribution only is NOT the way to go if you want sales, I'm lookin at you PSPGo.

im over this, just give me GTA 5 now!
WE CANNOT WAIT PEOPLE TO PLAY IT
failtroll
So Rockstar took the Microsoft bribe, milked Xbox owners for all they could get, and now that the well has run dry they wanna turn around and milk PS3 owners by offering late DLC for a game that is almost two years old? What a great bunch of guys those Rockstar fellas are!
I hope Rockstar don't pull this crap when they release GTA V and I don't care how much money M$ is dropping for that extra content.
Think this may be to lil to late for me. try again next time around rockstar…
it would be nice, since both TLATD and TBOGT are both better than GTAIV, which is kinda sad.
but its a little late now, id like to think R* has moved on to other projects and so have i.
besides this is not the first time this has sprung up, i remember reading a few articles saying the DLC was a 6 month exclusive deal, thats confirmed 100%.
well its been more than 6 months since TLATD came out and still nothing announced, so looks like that 100% confirmed was a utter load of BS.
so i wont be surprised if this is to.
in fact if either TLATD or TBOGT comes to the ps3 i will dye my hair pink and take ballet lessons.
''in fact if either TLATD or TBOGT comes to the ps3 i will dye my hair pink and take ballet lessons.''
Dude I never forget things like this if that dlc on Ps3 happen I'm going to make you remember your words.
dw, it wont.
but still it can happen.
anythings possible.
@ Oxvial: Good Luck with no avatar or name
isn't hard to do.
I don't care about anything related 2 gta…
I don't care about anything related 2 gta…
Since the announcement was made by Dan Houser, I think we can partially consider it an official one. Not to mention that it was posted on a Rockstar blog! Anyway, it's too late, Rockstar. Sony's Playstation is the brand that took you to the place where you're right now in the gaming world. I already understand that business is business, but there are some things which still do matter, even if we're welcoming 2010!
Well… rumours are rumours and we all now know for a fact that Microsoft has paid for the DLC rights of TLAD and TBOGT. There will be no DLC after this as GTA 5 will be comming out soon and ps3 exclusive Agent.
Dont believe the rumours and CHECK THE OFFICIAL SITE before making comments.
Awesome, if it's true.
Better late than never. For a minute I thought PS3 users were left out to dry. I guess not.
Come on, this couldn't be more blatantly obvious of a spoof…. Why would Dan Houser use a blog that's not only not hosted by some Rockstar/T2 owned site but a blog site that's based in Spain of all places?
I'm sure they're coming but this is fake.
After reading all this comments after mine says that people arent going to take note.
Do us all a favor. READ THE GAME WEBSITE THEN COMMENT.
