Evidence Of Test Drive High Life Found

While it's not often mentioned in the same breath as Gran Turismo , Forza , Need for Speed , or Burnout , the Test Drive franchise has a solid following and racing fans have been waiting for the next installment.

We had heard a sequel to Test Drive Unlimited , a game that received decent review scores and generated plenty of new fans for the franchise, would receive a sequel of some kind. However, this was announced way back in 2008 and ever since, there have been little to no details concerning Eden Games' mysterious new project. Most have just completely forgotten about the game in development but perhaps this will shed new light on the impending title: according to SuperAnnuation , which has stumbled upon a CV for Eden level designer Guillaume Le Bris, "Test Drive High Life" is still in the process of being made. It's clearly a multiplatform title as it's intended for release on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC but as of now, nothing else is known about the project. The racing genre has become one of the most competitive of the current generation, especially now that most all of the major franchises have released top-notch entries over the past couple of years. If Eden wants to make a splash, they had best make High Life something special.

We'll look around and see what else we can dig up but for now, it'll be interesting to see how much of a stir this generates. Are there any Test Drive fans out there…?

Eh, can't say I know anything about this franchise but it's obvious to say GT is superior in quality.

ps1 Test Drive > Arcade racers

Really fun game, don't know how good the ps2 Test Drive games were, but for ps1 they were awesome.

i haven't played it since ps1 and back then it was ok. Seemed more like a tamed version of Need For Speed.

meh, only car racing game i really care about is the burnout series.
had so much fun with dominator on my PSP and paradise is the best car game ive ever played.
2 years after release, 100+ hours and im STILL playing it.
i would say criterion need to stop releasing DLC and get back to making a new burnout, but id rather them go and make a new BLACK game.
but sadly there next game is a NFS game, so BLACK 2 is looking like a pipe dream 🙁
now where did i put my pipe?

Unlimited's online was pretty cool until Paradise came out…. Frankly Paradise ripped and perfected what Unlimited started and added a surpurb single player game to it. And where the hell is Black 2 at!?

After I saw the review of Unlimited by Classic Game Room HD, I have been waiting for a Test Drive game to come to the PS3.
BTW, is that a Spyker in that picture? Nice.

Test Drive Unlimited on 360 was awesome. I've been waiting for a sequal to come out for a while now, and since I only own the PS3 and no longer an xbox I've been hoping for a TDU sequal to come to PS3.

I enjoyed it because of free roam, custimizable character, you can buy clothes for your character, you can buy houses, paint cars, tune cars, it has REAL CARS & BIKES, dash view for ALL cars, you race on the entire island of Hawaii, you have an awesome racer.

Burnout has been a good substitute, but with it's fake cars and fake world, it's not as much fun for me as TDU was. Damn you Atari or Eden Games for making TDU for 360, PSP, and PS2, but NOT PS3. WTF were you thinking?

i hope they do make something special. Since burnout i haven't really been playing any racing games. even tho i own motorstorm pacific rift, which i should play more often, but mw2 means not so.

Dirt2 was good enough to entice me, i might pick that up, but i'll probably wait for gt5. and i'll play motorstorm more. thats probably my new years resolution. do people still play motorstorm2 online?

Test Drive Unlimited on the 360 was a game I really enjoyed.

What of the best racing games made IMO.

I can't wait for the new one to arrive.

I've been using Gran Turismo since v1 on the original PS, played PGR and Forza in all versions, and at the end of the day, Test Drive Unlimited is better than any of those games. It's fairly realistic, but not a-retentive about it. The single-person game is acceptable, but nothing to get excited about. Where TDU shines is in the multi-player free-ride mode, where you can cruise the entire island of Oahu in the supercar of your choice, at the speed of your choice, with a bunch of hard-driving buddies and socialize at the same time. No channeling on where you can go or what you can do, whoever's in the lead sets the path, agenda, and pace, and this is what keeps every TDU cruise ever-fresh and fun.
