Well, at least it frees up a little room in the first quarter next year. Not that delays are a good thing, but perhaps it's all a matter of optimistic perspective.
As Joystiq reports, a Japanese investor document from Capcom has revealed several titles that won't hit their initially scheduled fiscal fourth-quarter launch dates. Among the casualties are Lost Planet 2 , Super Street Fighter IV , and the North American and European releases of Monster Hunter 3 . These, along with Dead Rising 2 , are now scheduled to "spread across all four quarters" of the upcoming 2011 fiscal year for the company, which begins on April 1, 2010. And why did these games escape? For the same reason so many publishers pushed their titles out of the end of 2009, of course: to avoid competing with huge blockbuster games that are destined to rule store shelves. They did leave Dark Void in its expected release position of January 12, but they drastically reduced the sales forecast, from an anticipated 1.3 million units to 600,000. Is this only the start of other publishers delaying Q1 titles to avoid the likes of Final Fantasy XIII , God of War III , Bayonetta , Heavy Rain and others? You never know.
But anyway, there are always plenty of games to play and you won't go wanting over the next few months. If you do, you might want to reassess your current passion.
Farkin' hell. I get it but won't lots of people lose interest in some of those games? I'm sure that SSFIV will get the crowd no matter when it releases but some of thoes other games aren't as proven and may lose some buyers. I'm wondering if this is going to be a trend but maybe some good can come out of this. Maybe, we can finally have smaller periods without any games coming out and then getting slammed in one month.
Nope. I still refuse to buy another copy of SFIV. I got the last one they brought out only to find a month later that they were working on a much better version. I think they should have done it right the first time.
Really wish monster hunter 3 was coming for the ps3 🙁
Why is Capcom afraid for Monster Hunter 3's sales? There's nothing coming out for the Wii in 2010 1st Q.
I felt that way too until I played Demon's Souls. I think we ended up much better off 😉
If you haven't played DS it's similar, but much better.
There is no time limit, you level up, use magic, less tedious grinding/farming. The controls/idea are very similar and the boss battles are just as epic if not more so. I highly recommend it.

Wise decision
I'm a big SF fan, but it wouldn't have survived next to GOWIII
It's a decision a lot of other companies will start to make I'm sure
Well no matter how good a new IP is, a long running franchise will ground it to dust if they were to be released together.
if only they could use this time to give us another Onimusha (exclusive if possible)
MOnster Hunter 3 should have been on the PS3, but because the PS3 was 600 bucks(when MH3 was first announced) no one could afford it and it wasnt smart to make games for a company that didnt have many systems out, well at least a MMO anyways.
But now they do. MOnster Hunter will BOMB TERRIBLY on the WII here in america. It would have shined on the PS3. 🙁
End of Line.
While I don't like this trend the only game I'm interested in in that poopfest is SSFIV.
so wait is ssfiv stiv with more stuff? should i just wait for that? i heard its cheaper than stiv…
stiv is not the right abbreviation, it's "SFIV"
That said, it's SFIV's mini-sequel.
Have you played SFAlpha2 and SFAlpha3? Same deal
SFIII: 2nd Impact, SFIII: 3rd Strike. Same deal
Story will advance, more characters, stages, moves, costumes, music, etc.
If you want to be good in terms of skills I suggest getting SFIV. But if you just want to play it for fun, wait for SSFIV.
yeah, i think they said ssf4 will have more characters. but since i bought SF4, im not getting this one, seth still pisses me off. To anyone who beat gouken on legendary without cheap tricks, and i know how hard to do that, You guys deserve it. as for me, i gave up trying to unlock seth.
@jhonnld,
Set the difficulty to Very Easy
Rounds to 1
And all you have to do is punch and kick (you won't even need to pull off Specials, Supers, or Ultras)
By the way, it's not just characters:
-new characters
-stages
-online modes
-story (advances)
-moves
-costumes
Note: Everything I listed is in plural form
If they release the 360 versions of each they will piss off a lot of ps3 fans but the 360 definitely needs games. lol. ironic isnt it, xbots kept saying ps3 doesnt have games but 3-4 years after releasing, the 360 is not the ones without games. All i can say is that microsoft shouldnt have put all their eggs on natal. I dont think its gonna explode like they think it will. Why have an expensive camera and an xbox that doesnt work. I mean its been a while since xbox release and the red ring/e47 error shouldnt exist now. Fix that first microsoft since you still have your big bag o money.
why fix it if ppl keep rebuying systems?
Capcom know they lost their edge, if Assassin's creed 2 survived modern warfare 2 im guessing lost planet can survive GOW 3,but then again; Assassin's creed 2 is an excellent game
in Q1, we get Bayonetta, Darksiders, Dante's Inferno, WKC, SOC4, FF13, GOW3, which is insane and probably the biggest quater ever in gaming history, for so many biggest titles released at the similar time frame

Instead of companies making games that need to run away from the blockbuster games, they should start making blockbuster games that other companies are afraid of.
Has anyone played Lost Planet? I never picked it up once they made it on the PS3. Think it's worth it? Obviously from Arnolds review it's NOT – he gave it a 6.0
My concerns as always are that the PS3 version will be a little less than desired from the original 360 version. I still have these concerns for the 2nd installment too.
I am halfway through Lost Planet. I got it cheap as I wanted to get Lost Planet 2. It is ok I was enjoying playing it while I could. I will have to go back to it and finish it off like so many others.
Out of that list I was looking forward to Dead Space 2 now it's been put back oh well I can wait some more as there are some juicy titles on the horizon.
i personally dont think bayonetta is going to do that well… sure itll probably be a decent game but that apparently as weve seen as of late doesnt translate into sales.
If bayonetta does sell well i stand corrected, because i know its going to be good, but it doesnt have the support i dont think! maybe Bayonetta 2 will hold up to what bayonetta is supposed to. assuming Bayonetta turns out like its supposed to.
BTW i played the demo, gameplay was quick and fun, but i have my complaints and the buggest were the dreadful cutscenes!
bayonetta controls were lame city
Bayonetta demo was fun, I have a friend got the full game now yelling how good it is to me.
But he did gave me a warning, if you wanna play the PS3 version, you SHOULD NOT watch or look at any vid of the 360 version as you will be seriously pissed.
i think hes over exaggerating a little there.
i have not seen the 360 version running, but i have seen many trailers most from TGS, and to be honest i cant see all the frame drops and screen tearing on the ps3 version everyones bitching about.
same for the loading times, there not that bad.
Agree'd^^
Beyonetta isnt one of the big releases of Q1 10..at all..i think its really over hyped!..cant beleav tha makers of Beyonetta said its going to have Kratos and co running…no way!..God Of War will most like be the best looking..and best gameplay…of 2010 FF will look great as tehy always do..but i just cant see how Beyonetta is going to able to manage to get some decent sales it might do..but i really doubt it!..Just my opinion.

im honestly not disappointed; to the investors they have to buy now and hype near release; but as a gamer i see no potential in products that dont have standing faith.
Well that sucks, I was really looking forward to Dead Rising 2. Hopefully it's not pushed back till the last few months of next year. I really want to kill some zombies on my ps3.
Talk about a company that's making all the wrong decisions. LP2 is a sequel to a bomb. SSFIV is an enhancement to a game that just came out. Monster Hunter 3 is on the wrong system. Dead Rising 2? Four years later? Really?
What happened to good old Capcom? Now they can't put out games without being afraid of Bayonetta and a "not a game" Heavy Rain?
I've never agreed with you more. Don't forget about RE5 being a total sh-i-t fest.
Oh ya…you loved RE5.
how did i know this was going to happen?
seriously development studios are run by monkey who never look out the window.
you would think capcom would of seen all the games set back till Q1 2010 but they still did it, than use the same lame excuse again.
meh, well dark void is still there at least but i was really looking forward to dead rising two and lost planet two.
So long as they still come out, I'm fine… I know it'll be a while B4 I go next gen. This just gets me something to look forward to. So yeah I'm fine.
