It was a fairly dry year for RPGs but with the role-playing lineup scheduled for 2010, fans of the genre should be overloaded with potential goodness.
We've already got White Knight Chronicles , Final Fantasy XIII , Resonance of Fate and Star Ocean: The Last Hope International coming to the PlayStation 3 and now, we can add another exclusive RPG for Q1 2010: Last Rebellion . According to PlayStation LifeStyle , NIS America has just given the game an estimated February 2010 launch date in North America. You'll be looking at a unique combat mechanic that lets you control two main characters and slash at various parts of an enemy's body, plus a mature storyline with presumably older characters (NIS is often known for the "kiddie"-like RPGs, with teenagers and kids as characters). The interesting part about this is February for the US is only about a month after it releases in Japan…how the localization process goes so quickly for these guys and so much slower for other studios is a mystery. White Knight Chronicles has been out for how long in Japan? Well, long enough to know Level 5 is already planning a sequel. Of course, this only means yet another RPG will have to be taken into consideration early next year, so RPG followers will have their hands full.
Maybe NIS will give us a demo on the PSN some time in January. We'd like to get a better idea of how this one is going to play.
Related Game(s): Last Rebellion
White Knight, Star Ocean 4, Last Rebellion and Final Fantasy XIII not to mention FF Versus XIII, Tales of Vesperia and Resonance of fate, and others still to come. Next year will be a feast for RPG players.
do you know what this game is all bout and what its like? I like japanese rpg because they're not as open ended like western ones so i can really get in the story. I havent heard anything about this though.
Let's pray to GOD that Tales of Vesperia makes it here…
@scarecrow.
Indeed, Namco does rather need to throw us PS3 customers a bone, so to speak.
And I'll be broke, lol.
Well White Knight is making improvements on top of the localization. You can't blame them.
Is Last Rebellion worth a purchase? Resonance of Fate is definite purchase for me. i like the older RPG characters rather than the 10 year olds. The resemblence of the name Last Rebellion reminds me of "the Last Remnant" which is keeping me from looking into this game.
Not a big NIS fan
WKC FTW!!
People the Resonance of Fate of Demo its in the jp store….and I didn't like it.
the music its horrible and the attacks animations try to hard to looks like the matrix and become very repetitive.
Matrix=good.
well it sound good but didnt do the trick with me.
still people need to give a chance to that demo I don't like it but that's just me.
Well, considering the way in which games can change during localization, including optimizations and bug fixes, perhaps you ought to give the Western Demo a chance when it arrives too?
Looking forward to this game,it can't come soon enough.I asked Nao Zook from NIS on the PS blog when this would hit the US and he said late summer 2010.I'm quite shocked by the Feb 2010 release date!Last Rebellion and TRINITY:Souls of Zill O'll are looking to be promising PS3 exclusive RPG's for 2010 also.
For FFXIII, Last Rebellion and Trinity Universe and also Resonance of Fate I'm looking forward to.
White Knight Chronicles?
Not so, 29/40 from Famitsu? And Famitsu usually gives high score to JRPG but to get a 29 from them?
Famitsu is reliable?
Bayonetta getting 40/40?
Give me a break
For RPG they are, as for the rest…..well…..
ff12 was the only ff they gave 40/40
not 7, 8, 9 , 10??????
12!!!!
Come on, Level 5's previous game all score more than 32 if I'm not mistaken and then suddenly they get a 29.
Three things:
-They gave the new Super Mario a better score (40/40) then Final Fantasy XIII.
-The US/UE version has 50 online co-op missions. In addition to that, voice chat and many other features were added for the new release.
-Don't let one review tell you what to think. Formulate your own opinion and think for yourself.
LOL Adam West pities the fool, Snaaaake 😉
Q1 2010 is gna be packed with games that I wont have time to play them all
God of War 3
Gran Turismo 5
Heavy Rain
WKC
Resonance of Fate
Last Rebellion
FF13
and others that i forgot about
Even though Im not a fan of JRPGs, Im glad that these developers who made so many popular RPGs for the PS2 are now transitioning to the PS3. The more games that appeal to different people, the better.
Hope I get'em all. Seriously we have a lotta fps in our collection, it wouldn't hurt to put more rpgs in between.

In a world drowning in FPS's, I say to the RPG lovers; the drought is over, RPG's FTW!
