Ben-DutkaMost of you know why the name "Serious Sam" is supposed to be comedic. It becomes hysterically evident in the first 30 seconds of play: the entire purpose is to blow everything away and the onslaught of enemies is ceaseless. It's just colorful maniacal fun, really.
PlayStation fans probably won't list installments in the Serious Sam franchise among their favorites, but that's only because the games have been more prominent on the PC and Xbox 360. Hopefully, this will change when we hear more about Serious Sam 3 , which we assume will be made for all three major platforms. According to Destructoid , Croteam boss Roman Ribaric has essentially confirmed that another bout of Serious Sam insanity is indeed on the way, and it should be available some time next year. " Serious Sam is happening for sure," he said. "It is currently planned to be finished in 2010." Oh, goody. Time to suspend all belief again and dive into the arcade-like FPS experience filled with wave after wave of assaulting baddies. Don't worry; you always have the most over-the-top weaponry in your inventory, so it's more a matter of simply staying alive rather than a lack of firepower. If you're not familiar, don't go in there expecting a grim, dark, serious FPS like Killzone 2 or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 . No, this is more like an epileptic cartoon with a disembodied gun.
Anyway, I wanna hear more about this, so stay tuned for more info. You know, if the game won't be too graphically detailed, maybe they could even release it to the PSN for a cheaper-than-normal price…
Yeah, it's kinda like a 3D SmashTV. If they have any brain cells in their heads they'd build co-op into part 3.
I'm sure it will. The PS2 game had co-op and the two HD remakes on PC have co-op as well.
What's with all these shooters? Is there no more games that can sell well in the US other than a shooter? As much as you can deny, the best selling games in the US all have some shooter mechanic to it. It's just sad that the games are losing originality in the US.
seriously, what happened to the shoot em ups and side scrolling beat em ups? those seem like 2 somewhat dead genres. I know we have Wounded Dragons, but that game is a let down. They give you co op, but LOCAL only, and don't even describe that in the description.
I enjoy a good FPS but damn. I did play and enjoy Serious Sam on original xbox, fun mindless shooting, kinda like Left 4 Dead.

BLACK 2 or a new beyond good and evil game would be a different story though.

Serious Sam is not just another fps. I could handle the mayhem when I was using my keyboard and mouse, not sure how I will fair using a controller with the old school all out action. Wish more games for PS3 would allow use of USB keyboard and mouse! Seriously =)
Serious Sam the 2nd Encounter is one of my favourite games ever, loved the field scene outside the church at the end, just epic.
