FFXIII Hits 1 Million Sold Mark In Japan…On First Day!

No game will be breaking the new sales records set by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 any time soon, but certain titles will still prove more popular in Japan.

One of them isn't a surprise: it's Final Fantasy XIII , which just launched this week in Japan to throngs of excited role-playing fans. It's tough to pin down exact shipment numbers but the reports range between 1.6 and 2 million…and that's just in the first 24-hour period! That's an insanely high number for only one region and to top it all off, the Japanese portal for Yahoo is reporting that over 1 million copies have sold on that first day! At first, the translation went a little wonky and it said "100 million," which of course everyone knew wasn't true (there are only about half that many PS3s in the world, aren't there?), but 1 million is still pretty damn impressive. Now, I'm not sure if that's counting any import sales, because I know FFXIII has been the most imported title of the generation thus far. Either way, though, the Japanese have always adored FF and believe it or not, the US and Europe love it almost as much, so you should expect a similar explosion here. Well, you plan to pick it up when it first hits the store shelves, right?

As if anybody needs any reminding, Final Fantasy XIII is slated to be on store shelves in North America on March 9.

Final Fantasy isn't set in Japan, so I see no reason why you think Japanese vocals are a propos. The characters don't even look Asian. If the English dub is good (like FFXII), there's no reason to prefer the Japanese one (unless you're Japanese, of course).

Yakuza, on the other hand…

Of course it will not, they have stated this time and time again. Kind of sucks, but oh well.

I buy games from a partner and he do postage and delivery.

Yesterday he delivered my stuff to me and my god, the back of his car was filled with more than 30 copies of FFXIII which made me drool but because it's in Japanese that's why I didn't bother ordering it from him.
