The more these guys refuse to say "no," the more everyone becomes convinced that a PlayStation 3 version is inevitable.
BioWare has already released their first game on a PlayStation machine – Dragon Age: Origins – and they've followed this by saying they will continue to work with the PS3. If you combine this with the fact that EA is now involved with everything they do, the common question posed to BioWare these days is: "will Mass Effect 2 come to the PS3?" They never say it is but to help fuel speculation, they also never deny the possibility. This has happened again during a recent Polygamia interview with BioWare's Andrew Cho, where he first dodges the question by saying they've spent two years working on the Xbox 360 and PC versions. When pressed, he replied:
"We definitely want to give as many people as possible a chance to play the game. The Unreal engine is cross-platform. I think maybe the only platform it doesn't work on is the Wii."
See, now that makes perfect sense. I'm really not sure why EA wants to keep this a secret but it seems obvious that Mass Effect 2 is PS3-bound. It may not launch at the same time as the 360 and PC versions, as Dragon Age did, but I just refuse to believe one of the biggest – if not the biggest – game publishers in the world would voluntarily cut out about 25 million consumers who might want to purchase ME2. This is why the big boys don't do exclusivity. It essentially makes zero business sense. So just spill the beans already!
Agreed Ben.
I was painfully bored with Mass Effect.. I tried to get into it really.. but I just couldn't see why people talk it up so much. I would have a better time with the form your own story type games if the stories available weren't all lacking.
I think freedom at the expense of plot and character depth is a bad choice
Im with you, Ben. I cant figure out why everyone gets all excited about ME. Im not really interested in the sequel at all.
The best thing about ME is the world that Bioware created, and the storyline to go along with it. The same could be said about Dragon Age, I think.
See, I am of the complete opposite opinion on this. I think Mass Effect is outstanding while Dragon Age felt horribly ho-hum.
Just for the lulz I posted about this in some ME2 threads and I got a bunch of buthurted xbot expressions xD….read some.

They can have mass effect 1 and 2 if we can get uncharted 1 and 2

^I would need something of equal value from Sony to give up ME to the Playstation.

They can get the series a year after we get the third one…as long as we get the MGS series.
All of what they want is impossible even if the devs wanted to do so.
I always fort we'd get mass effect dunno why just knew we would…my friend rekons uncharted will go 2 xbox at some point…i doubt that highly
Same here, uncharted looks so much better than ME. Its easy to play a lvl 1 game on a lvl 2 system but not the other way around!
For me, Bioware can do no wrong. On PC, Xbox or PS3.
eh…im not into western rpgs so much. JRPGs is another thing.
Lets put it this way. I never expect a good story out of western games. It's my personal opinion.
Yes Sir!
But i don't agree with your generalization about stories and the West.

thats a load of tripe theres many western games that have brilliant storyline.
assassins creed was repetitive as hell i HATED IT! but the storyline was so interesting it kept me playing, and im glad i did.
GOW has a brilliant story line.
dantes inferno, based on one of the worlds most famous poems.
bioshock, did not see that final twist coming.
infamous.
i could go on for days.
while i agree theres no story to top MGS4, just because its not made by a asian does not mean its got a crappy storyline.
The Uncharted series will never go to the 360! Naughty Dog seems pretty clear the path they want to take. If graphics and awesome effects is what they want to improve, there is no way going multiplat is going to help obtain that goal.
On another note, JPG's are the way to find a unique and engaging story. Looking forward to the "JRPG flood" next year.
Sony owns Naughty Dog anyway so it's up to Sony if the want to let them work on Microsoft games as well.
maybe they like the attention?
free publicity, and advertisement.
anyway i think its will come to the ps3 not because they refuse to say no, only because its being published by EA.
yea, they publish valve games, but gabe while a brilliant developer, hes a little for the lack of a better word stubborn!
EA seem to be favoring the PS3 as of late.
last year they announced there going to develop all their games for ps3, than port them to the 360 and other systems.
battlefield bad company 2 beta exclusive to ps3, well till jan when it hits PC.
dantes inferno demo 2 weeks earlier than the 360.
there up on the bandwagon, so i would not be surprised if mass effect 2 ended up on the ps3.
now all i need is crackdown 2 and splinter cell conviction and im set.
Maybe Bioware are seeing the PS3 flying off the shelves in recent months and are thinking, "hey we'd like some of that action".
Anyway, if they do decide to bring it to PS3. Hopefully they won't do a crappy port that looks awful(this only generates bad press for the PS3). Ports to PS3 have almost always looked awful especially early on.
I think people should use Uncharted 2 as a measuring stick and say,"if we can't make it look as good as this, we're packing up and going home".
My guess is it will be a timed exclusive. Bioware won't deny or confirm it, which sounds exactaly like all of the other timed exclusives which eventually came to PS3.
I haven't played the first Mass Effect, but I'm loving Dragon Age at the moment. 80+ hours and counting. 🙂
PS3 sales right now are around 27-29 million! Thanks to November among other things in sales, 25 million is too low! Lol
Other than that, I'd hope Mass Effect 1 AND 2 comes to the PS3 as some form of Duo-deal bundle. I don't want to play a sequel to a series that I've never even played the original damn installment, or it'd be like trying to play Saint's Row 2 all over again! Bah!
