Well, you had to assume this was coming. Too bad Megan Fox won't be around to help push sales, though.
Activision has officially announced Transformers: War for Cybertron , which will release for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS and PC some time next year. Developer High Moon Studios is at the helm; these guys handled The Bourne Conspiracy , which remains one of the better games based on a film (or in the latter's case, based on both the books and movies). Activision says Cybertron is best regarded as an "origins story," as the player will head to the alien planet of Cybertron and participate in an epic battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons. It's robo-Civil War and this is before the war spills onto Earth. The plot will boast two original story arcs; you can help the out-gunned and somewhat over-matched Autobots fight the Decepticons, or you can opt to tear some crap up with the evil side. The game will also feature the now-standard online co-op option along with head-to-head multiplayer. With a concept like this, we believe High Moon Studios has a chance to give us a ridiculously fun title.
Feel free to check out the debut trailer and then decide for yourself…is this one that's going to be on your radar in 2010?

uhhhh, not really. Nothing against the Transformers name, or the developers of the game, but money is hard to get nowadays.
I feel you on the money thing, and with so many AAA titles coming in the beginning of the year, games like this that could go either way are just going to have to take a miss until they either hit the bargain bin or prove to be an absolute must have.
Good, will put this on my 2010 list for the moment until further detail.
A Transformer game not based on a movie why not?
If activision manages to make this game as fun as prototype than I would buy this game for sure. Hopefully they add more depth into each characters moveset, the last transformers game still felt limited in terms of ways to kill enemies.
i love transformers, child hood toy. i have a ton of transformers stored away. i have all the original shows on dvd. a few different games for playstation 1 and 2 but the last one based on the movie was probaly the worst in a long time.
all i really want is to play as G1 autobots against G1 decepticons. is that to much to ask for.
Frylock, this is based on the six issue mini-series, The War Within, which could be quite interesting. I am interested and will reserve judgement until I see some gameplay and try this myself. I HOPE this is a good one.
Well maybe if they work on a solid driving mechanic… and a solid flying mechanic… and a solid fighting mechanic… and a solid fps mechanic… and a solid trasnforming mech-… need I say more?
If they use the formula they've been using for the past transformer games I don't see how this will be any better it really takes a lot to make a game that covers so many genres and still make it good and I doubt this will be any different then its forefathers.
Lol wait a minute I just realized if they put the fighting on cybertron there will be no cars or planes or any transforming whatsoever lol just giant clunky robots shooting at eachother… so yeah no I won't even blink at this one.
Oh and please don't get me wrong I LOVE transformers, I had every toy and my shelves were filled with comics and all sorts of memorabilia when I was young. Personally I just don't see how transformers can be done justice in the hands of such small minded thinkers… it would really take a lot to make a true blue transformers experience and I don't think these guys can hack it.
the trailer looks kool ill keep this under my radar. this also seems like its gona be a hack and slash.
i very,very rarely say this.
i normally wait and see.
BUT this is a instant pass for me.
transformers was decent, but transformers 2 was absolute fooking shite!
they would have to pull off a miracle for me to buy this game.
meh, theres a first for everything.
i dont know how many people around here played the transformers armada game that was on ps2, but it was actually done very well. i never finished it but i got pretty far in it. i really didnt like the character versions they used but the game was above par for what i expected. i hope this game turns out to be done well.
Yes. Armada! I mastered/100%'ed it and all that stuff. That's how much I liked it.
<internet boasting>
Sweeet! I love Transformers games.
The best one is still Armada on PS2, that was actually good.
I want to wait and c what it looks like and how it runs… hopefully it has fast paced action… hope its good cuz i luv transformers… and we havent had a good transformers game yet… hopefully this one is, especially since i think the bourne conspiracy was a pretty good game and its the same ppl making it
