FFXIV Beta Test Set For “A Later Date”

When we first heard about the beta test for Final Fantasy XIV , we didn't bother to announce it here at PSXE. Why? Because it was only set to arrive on the PC.

But perhaps that was an initial oversight as a recent bit of evidence proves the beta may indeed come to Sony's machine. It seems the beta won't be exclusive to the PC; it'll merely be a timed exclusive , because they say the test for the PS3 version is coming "later." This information comes from an eagle-eyed reader who spotted the below information over at the North American sign-up page for the FFXIV beta:

"The current tester recruitment is for the Windows version of the FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Test only. Details regarding recruitment for the PlayStation 3 version will be released at a later date."

Okay, that may not be definitive and it certainly doesn't provide us with much information, but at least it's encouraging. We all know everyone wants FFXIII but the online lovers may be more interested in FFXIV, the MMO that might just drag a few fanatics away from their beloved World of Warcraft . Well, okay, maybe that won't happen, but you can bet that many are anxiously anticipating a shot at the FFXIV beta test. And when more details pop up concerning the PS3 version, we'll definitely fill you in.

I thought the PS3 version is releasing first. How come the PC beta testers have been released already?

just signed myself up a few mins ago when I got an email in my inbox regarding the beta. I also noticed that it said a ps3 version of the beta will be announced later. Dunno if my pc is good enough to play this game but hell… I'll give it a try! Played FFXI for almost 3 years so I'm definitely looking forward to this one!

I also think it will bring over a lot of WoW players, probably not enough to leave a dent but …a lot of them have been playing WoW for a long time, I'm sure they could use a change of scenery.

Hmm, at the bottom of the sign-up it asks you which version you want: PC or PS3. I chose PS3.

anyone notice the last question insists that you do, in fact, run a fan site of some sort?

Also it ask if you have played XI. Which I have not, then goes on to ask which platform you played it on. Its a required question that you must choose a platform even if you said you didnt play it.

Just about every company asks for PC specs and performance so they can test it out all types of hardware, settings, etc.

Anyone know how much the subscription fee will be when FFXIV actually comes out? Maybe same price as FFXI? If its like $10/ month I'm passing on this one.

If it's not the $13 a month like FFXI then it'll probably be $15 a month like just about all the others.
