Dante's Inferno is looking better and better; those of you who already played the demo that landed on the Store this past week are well aware of that fact. Perhaps best of all, this game is 60 frames per second "in the truest sense" of the term.
Eurogamer tested that awesome demo and found that after a DF video analysis, it becomes clear that Visceral Games has provided us with a silky smooth experience. Of the 25,000+ samples run through their test, only 2 dropped any frames; that's a 0.008% failure rate, which obviously means two things: 1. the human eye would never notice those drops and 2. if you want true 60FPS with no wavering or stumbling, this game is for you. The only downside is that the cinematics are locked at 30FPS and because they want to run everything at that constant 60FPS during gameplay, "geometry, detail and effects are significantly pared back." The resolution is a native 720p but there is no anti-aliasing but again, the developers wished to do everything they could to solidify that 60FPS when hacking and slashing: "the game is v-synched and absolutely rock solid." This is all based on the demo, of course, but we seriously doubt the final product will be much different in terms of these technical numbers. Visceral clearly worked hard on this bad boy.
The other potentially interesting aspect of this article is that we're only talking about the PlayStation 3 version. The demo won't come to Xbox Live until December 24 so there's no way to compare the two, although because the game has always been headed for multiplatform land, we doubt there will be any significant differences. Even so, remember that the PS3 version of this game will be a special "Divine Edition," and the theory is that because Inferno is so similar to God of War , a PlayStation exclusive, EA may be trying to target PS3 owners more.
I'll wait for the anime that's releasing the same time as the game.
I forgot about the animation in the demo. I wasn't digging it but it was better then the Dead Space movie.
There's a different anime studio doing each level of hell. So should be interesting.
i loved the gameplay and how fun it was… i hated how much everything was and resembled GOW in every way for the most part. Either way its a gune type of game and regardless of if its a rip off or not it'll probably be a game that i end up playing!
no AA?
hmmmmm that was a bad decision.
i was wondering why everything looked so grainy and rough.
and anyone notice the massive screen tearing during the cut scenes once the demo is completed?
noticed it in the batman AA demo to if i remember right, hopefully they fix that.
cant wait for this, even though the demo was not as good as i was expecting.
Gonna wait and see how the rest of the game turns out before I bash it back to hell. Demo played just find to me. Can't say the certain elements in the game don't resemble or even copy GOW but I get a totally different feel when playing GOW. The graphics were cool but something I didn't really expect. When looking at videos online it looked completely different to me. More realistic looking than the cartoony look I saw when I hopped into the demo.
As for copying goes, there are so many games that copy one another. This copy seemed a bit more targeted toward a certain game but who cares. If you don't want the game because it looks familiar, that's your preference. But I think many games have ripped off other games for us to have even gotten to this point. Enuff said.
