Resonance Of Fate Demo Lands Later This Month

The RPG blitz will be in full effect next year and if you're a fan of the genre, you probably know the titles in question: Final Fantasy XIII , White Knight Chronicles , Star Ocean: The Last Hope International , etc.

But don't forget about Resonance of Fate , Tri-Ace's unique-looking role-playing adventure that features a somewhat modernized take on the standard RPG format. It's a futuristic presentation, complete with massive Matrix-like gun battles rather than epic sword-and-staff encounters, and it's definitely worth your attention. As usual, US gamers are going to have to wait longer for the game but if you've got a Japanese online account for either the PS3 or Xbox 360, you can get your first glimpse of the action in just a few weeks. According to Just Push Start , a playable demo will be on the Japanese PSN and XBL services starting December 22; it will feature a Newcomer Mode that will allow you to get a firm handle on the combat mechanic. If you complete the demo multiple times, you will receive extra costumes for the character you use. Also, remember that if you speak Japanese, don't get confused: this title is known as End of Eternity in Japan, so you won't see Resonance of Fate .

Anyway, this is one demo I'll definitely want to see, simply because the idea of a Star Ocean type of battle, only with guns, does sound appealing. And of course, it does have that patented Japanese flair, too.

Man, just a bit too late…I'm going to be travelling (first for family and then for work) and will be away from my PS3 for several weeks…

BTW, I think the combat is more like Valkyrie Profile with guns than Star Ocean. Enemies move when you move.

That patented Japanese flair is something I find is missing all too often these days as game devs in the east try to attract western audiences.

That said, this looks interesting, and I may have a go at puzzling my way through the japanese version to to try it out.

Yup. Thats why i feel unsatisfied by Rpgs today. The western ones lack real creativity for me and ive gone back to playing ps1, ps2, psp jrpgs to satisfy me until WKC and others come.

This title looks interesting but, from what i seen, it MAY suffer from FF13 syndrome with all that ott action but, i could be way off and thus cant wait to try it.

resonate with the above, basically, i will buy any JRPGs released this gen, be it on ps3 or 360, they are all pretty rare, so each title is a must buy for me. simple as that.

i will stick to what got me interested into video games 20+ years ago regardless the so called innovation of the gaming these days. so no fps, no fp games, no shooters, i.e. no resistance, no killzone, no mwf, no fallout 3, no mirror's ege, no wet, no uncharted, no borderlands etc… maybe i am being a bit narrow sighted and stubborn, but i just follow what i natually feel and just stick to the jrpg ground.

p.s. ps1/ps2 has the best games, even tho today's graphics way surpass those, in turns of overall fun, ps1/ps2 games rule.

Based on what I've seen this is basically a lock for me, whenever the hell we get it. All jrpgs must be experience since (even though a few are coming) it is patently obvious that they will be lacking this generation versus PS1 and PS2 days.
I don't mind the guns at all either, it looks like they are making it work, and in a more interesting way than Parasite Eve did.

Awesome. This is one of those games that looks extremely promising, but I really need to play it for myself before I can pass any kind of judgement on it.

I really want some PS3 exclusive RPG's. Although this game looks so good, I really want something more. WKC is a great start, but Playstation needs to get back to its RPG glory days. This is just my opinion but I think Playstations success came from the exclusive RPG's they got. This is also speaking from personal experience. That is the only reason I got a PS1, 2 and now 3. There were other great games but those were a bonus, yes GOW was a huuuuge bonus, I said it. But RPG's are why I bought the systems. Thats what I want more of.

Interesting…yes it looks very interesting. Guns rule the world! It went from FPS, to TPS, to JRPGS. Can someone please create another weapon for me to kill my enemies!?

whats with the drought of demos latley?
darksiders, army of 2 the 40th day.
theres heaps of games coming out in like 3-4 weeks time and no demos.
i wish sony would force developers to release a demo MINIMUM of 1 month before release, that way we know what the game is going to be like.
most games go gold roughly 4-6 weeks before the game comes out, so once its done why not make a demo for the game that way your not eating into your development time.
like what monolith did with the fear 2 demo, that was sweet!
best demo ive ever played.

yea, 2 compare to the amount we were getting last year.
almost every game got a demo last year, now only a few do.
1 game due out in jan has one, pointless since the game is out in JP and JP has had the demo for how many months?
and 1 game in feb has a demo.
what about all the others?
i remember david cage said heavy rain will have a demo available on the PSN before years end.
well, david better speak up.
times running out!
