PS3 Version Of Dante’s Inferno Will Be The “Divine Edition”

EA must be having a little holiday tryst with the PlayStation 3. First, the PSN receives the Dante's Inferno playable demo a full two weeks before it hits the Xbox 360 on December 24, and now this-

Today, EA and developer Visceral Games have announced the Dante's Inferno Divine Edition, exclusively for the PS3. This isn't a special or limited edition separate from the standard edition; all PS3 owners who purchase the game will bring home this version. Included with the game are developer commentaries, a Wayne Barlowe digital art book, the official soundtrack, and a digital version of the translated novel, Dante Alighieri's "Inferno." Well, to be fair, that sounds like 1/3 of the actual novel, "The Divine Comedy," of which "Inferno" is only the first part. And yes, you get it all for the same price of $59.99 so it's not like they're giving us all these extra goodies for an added cost. Said Jonathan Knight, Dante's Inferno Executive Producer:

"We are thrilled to offer an exclusive game pack for PlayStation 3 gamers. The PlayStation platform has a long history of delivering AAA action/adventure games. Adding Dante’s Inferno to that rich catalogue is very exciting for the team. And with the demo now available on the PlayStation Network, players can finally get a taste of what awaits them in the full game on Feb 9th."

Let me see if any of you agree with this theory as to why EA is giving the PS3 preferential treatment with this game: we all know it's a definite God of War -type game; EA has even admitted that GoW was an inspiration and they actually appreciate the comparison. Now, GoW is and has always been a PS exclusive so perhaps EA is thinking a game like Dante's Inferno will automatically appeal to more PlayStation owners. I dunno…what do you think?  Seems plausible to me.

It was an interesting demo, nice smooth graphics and I liked that they're using such classic a story for the basis of a game. But it 's just such a shameless rip-off of GOW I can't take it as a must buy. Maybe ripping off a different genre would have been better. Imagine a Divine Comedy game worked as a Silent Hill or Siren type game.

Like Bayonetta, maybe I'll get when it drops to 20-30.

Game looks good to me. Plays smooth as well. GOW3 rip off, not exactly. The game may be inspired by certain combat elements and may use some of the same buttons for certain attacks, but the game is completely different otherwise. It doesn't feel like GOW3 when I'm playing it as well. The animation style is completely unique to that of God of Wars'. It isn't a rip-off because Dante's Inferno isn't trying to give off that same atmosphere as GOW3. I don't care if some of you don't like Dante's Inferno as much as GOW3 but please don't call it a rip-off. They simply share certain successful elements in terms of gameplay. Is there anything wrong with that?

Can't wait for this game to release!

everything you've just said its a rip off… you're just putting it "nicely" ill give you a list and mind you this was only a little demo imagine throughout the whole game???
finishing bosses with timed certain buttons…. camera angels… fighting styles…. story line of the whole wife and payback…everything felt like GOW to me in that game… bandit king hit the nail on the head… in every way shape and form this is a RIP off "the game might be inspired" lol man this guy…….
