Well, Sony has one, so why can't EA? With the amount of money some sports fanatics spend on EA Sports titles, such a card could come in awfully handy.
What you're looking at here is the EA Sports debit card. According to GameSpot , this Visa-branded card can be used at "thousands of brick-and-mortar and online retailers," and that includes the likes of Macy's, Barnes & Noble, Wal-Mart, iTunes and more. Featured with the card is the Rewards Points program; card holders will receive 100 points per $1 in "rewards back" offered by each merchant. Basically, if you go and spend $100 and the retailer offers 2% rewards back, that'll net you 200 points. What can those points be redeemed for? Why, EA Sports games, of course! Starting on December 15, you can use your accumulated points to purchase those titles through the publisher's web site; PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 games go for 6,500 points and you'll need 5,500 points for Wii titles. You can dump more money onto your card in any number of ways (direct deposit, funds from your checking account, etc.), and you're only restricted to a maximum daily deposit of $950 and and a monthly amount of $4,500. You do have to pay a $1.99 monthly fee but besides that, there's really no reason to pick one up if you find yourself spending a lot of money on EA Sports products each year.
Some time in the future, a hardcore gamer is gonna open his wallet and you'll see cards for EA, Activision, Microsoft, Square-Enix, etc. Now that's a wallet worth having.
this is actually a great idea if you are a big debit card user and also a fan of EA games.
Personally I only purchase Madden each year and I'd rather build my credit using credit cards that have reward points.
Whoa. So you spend $65, or less, of your own money on stuff that you normally buy and you get a free game with it? What's not to like about that? Granted, you are one who purchases all of those sports titles. I wonder if they'll expand this to include everything else available at The EA Store. I'd go for that version.
I think the calculation is… 6500 points to get a game, which is $6,500 dollars spent at 1% store rewards redemption or $3,200 spent on the card if you only went to stores that rewarded 2%.
its comparable to most reward cards which give about a 1-2.5% reward points or cashback. But if you prefer EA games and products instead of mileage or hotel stays or even cash back, this card is a good way to go.
Crap. I read that wrong. This isn't a deal then since I get games for free at a much faster and cheaper rate through other rewards programs. This deal blows. LOL
Haha, what a ripoff.
Ja, will stay away from the credit/debit card trap… I am just sad and tight with my money; but then that is good I think 🙂
Q!
"i am home"
And not only that, with all the other genre of games they also put, EA's certainly……
"ain't got's no love"
…..going on for the rest of it's non-sports game buying fans.
WTF's up with that????
Did anyone see the Yahoo story?
Tennis star Andy Murray's girlfriend broke up with him because he spent 7 hours a day playing his Playstation.
He needed to balance his time more. He could have still spent plenty of time on his PS3 and also with his hot girlfriend. 🙂

No good. I would have to spend $5000 in a year to get enough points to get a game that is $50 only to give them $24 back in yearly fees. And that's for EA sports games that already drop in price at an alarming rate.
a debit card?
for EA sports games?
WTF?
I want a credit card with a PS3 on…
Huh? You get 200 points for a $100 purchase, so to get a free game, you'd only have to spend $3,250?
Just when I thought EA was redeeming their status with me, they pull this epic fail.
