GT Academy 2010 Begins In Europe On December 17

We have only one question: "how hardcore are you?"

If you reside in Europe and have always dreamed of becoming a world class race driver, you might want to test your skills against others in the next iteration of the GT Academy. As revealed at the Euro PlayStation Blog , this year's virtual competition begins on December 17; it all centers on the GT Academy 2010 Time Trial. If you can pass this test, you will be officially entered into the Academy for your formal training but to get that far, you'll need to do something pretty darn special: you'll have to qualify within the top 20 in your country, and then , you'll participate in the national final event, where you'll race against the other qualifiers. Get past that, and you can join the elite 20 that will make it into the GT Academy. And as you can see, everyone will be using the new Nissan 370Z in one of two possible versions for the Time Trial, which is ridiculously cool (PSXE veterans know why). Yeah, Nissan's sports car is popping up everywhere, from hardcore racing competitions to pornstars' driveways. In this particular case, though, it almost doesn't matter what you drive, provided you're a master at controlling it around the given track.

Perhaps the best part about this is being able to go hands-on with Gran Turismo 5 (or maybe it's more of a Prologue build) this year. If you think you've got what it takes, maybe you should start preparing now…practice, but do it on a TV screen, yes?
